00:00So, after Tyrese Halliburton made this insane game winner over the Cavs in Game 2, he did, well, this.
00:08It was just right in the moment. It was right in the moment.
00:12Yeah, man, I've been waiting for that. I'll take that fine, gladly.
00:15This celebration, popularized by Sam Cassell during the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals,
00:20has typically incurred a $15,000 fine from the NBA.
00:24I believe the last person to do it was Fred VanVleet in 2021,
00:27but numerous other players have done the celebration since.
00:32This got me thinking, what are some other celebrations that are banned, and what are the respective fines for them?
00:38The league came after LeBron for his version of the Sam Cassell celebration after hitting a clutch shot against the Pacers in 2021.
00:46This one cost him $15,000.
00:48Another $15,000 fine was levied against Jimmy Butler when he wasn't even playing for doing this after Max Struess hit a big three.
00:57Earlier this year, Ja Morant incurred a $75,000 fine for doing a finger gun celebration after hitting a three.
01:08The steep fine was more because he ignored the league's warning for him to not do the gesture after the first time he did it against the Warriors a few days earlier,
01:16but still a hefty amount for finger guns that a lot of players seem to do.
01:20The NBA appears to have gotten tired of Ja because they aren't addressing the grenade celebration.
01:28However, there is precedent for finger guns being a no-no.
01:32In 2015, Gerald Green was fined $25,000 for pointing finger guns at the Wizards bench.
01:38Later in his career, when he made his home debut for the Bulls, Dwayne Wade hit this throat-slitting celebration after nailing a big shot.
01:48Classic good guy Dwayne Wade, he later apologized for the celebration, saying he was caught up in the emotions.
01:54They still hit him with a $25,000 fine.
01:56Then there's this classic moment, when Kyrie Irving flicks off the Celtics' crowd in retaliation against the booing and jeering he got in his return to TD Garden.
02:06This one ran Kyrie $50,000.
02:08And lastly, this is kind of a funny one, but back in the day, former commissioner David Stern wanted to stop Dikembe Mutombo's iconic finger wag celebration by fining him $5,000 each time he did it.
02:19But Mutombo didn't care and kept wagging, so finally the NBA and Dikembe came to an agreement that he could keep doing it as long as it was at the crowd and not directly in the player's face after he blocked them.
02:32Thanks for watching. Let us know in the comments which one is your favorite band's celebration, and if you think these fines are fair, like the video and subscribe for more.
