00:00Oh yay! Oh yay! Oh yay!
00:10Eighty years ago today, the United Kingdom and its allies from around the globe celebrated VE Day, the end of the war in Europe.
00:25Today, as we come together to commemorate what came to be known as VE Day, our thoughts turn to thanksgiving and remembrance of those millions that gave so much to achieve the freedom we all enjoy today.
00:45We remember those we lost, those who were wounded or scarred, those whose lives were forever changed by the war.
00:57Nobody was immune from the impact of that terrible conflict, so we pause to remember their sacrifice.
01:06We reflect too upon the words of our late and glorious Queen Elizabeth,
01:12Never give up, never despair.
01:16And so we offer our thanksgiving for the selflessness of those who gave up so much in order that future generations should enjoy the blessings of freedom, democracy and peace.
01:33And so now I crave your indulgence as, according to the King's wishes, we now have two minutes of silence and reflection as we remember those who have given themselves in service.
