00:13the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazism in World War II.
00:18In South Asia, brutal attacks are reported between India and Pakistan after the Indian
00:27armed forces fired missiles at night, suspected terrorist facilities in the town of Yammu
00:33and the disputed region of Kashmir.
00:39And a group of 620 lawyers from Chile presented a new complaint against Israel to the International
00:45Criminal Court and other bodies for charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
00:53Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana,
00:57Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:10The Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro arrived in Moscow, Russia to participate in the commemorative
01:15acts of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazism in World War II.
01:22President Nicolás Maduro heads a delegation that will commemorate the heroic deeds
01:27of the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. Foreign leaders and envoys from 29 countries will
01:33attend Russia's Victory Day Parade later this week in Moscow. International guests are also expected to
01:40meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This year's historic celebrations will include a traditional
01:46military parade in the Red Square. The presidents of China, Brazil, Venezuela, Serbia, Egypt and Slovakia
01:54will be among the leaders attending. Moreover, military units from 13 countries will participate
02:00in the Victory Day Parade.
02:01Well, we come to bring the always firm, brave and supportive greetings of the Venezuelan people,
02:16from the spiritual strength of Simon Bolivar, of Hugo Chavez, our supreme commander and of a people
02:21that is fighting the battle, also, in the 21st century, against Nazi fascism, against imperialism,
02:28that is the people of Venezuela, the victorious battle. We come to commemorate, with much sensitivity
02:33and much historical conscience, the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War.
02:41After his arrival in Russia, the Venezuelan president stressed that 27 million human beings
02:47from the Soviet Union struggled, resisted,
02:50and resisted, and resisted, and resisted.
02:53In the last few years, the soldiers of the Soviet Union died to liberate Europe and the world from Nazi fascism.
02:56On April 30th, we were commemorating the taking of Berlin, and now we come to commemorate the
03:04surrender of the criminal Nazi German army to the Red Army of the Soviet Union.
03:1027 million human beings from the Soviet Union struggled, resisted, in Moscow, in Stalingrad,
03:19in Leningrad and then, millions of men and women arrived to Berlin to liberate Europe in the first place,
03:28and Europe has to thank the Red Army and the Soviet Union because they liberated them from Nazi fascism.
03:37The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, arrived in Moscow this Tuesday to participate in the events
03:45commemorating the Russian victory over Nazism in World War II. The Cuban president was received
03:51by the Russian authorities after his first stop in the city of St. Petersburg, where he honored the
03:56memory of the thousand heroes and martyrs of the siege of Leningrad. The head of state is leading
04:03the delegation that will commemorate the heroic deeds of the Red Army against Nazism during the
04:08Great Patriotic War. For this, on May 9th, the Russian Federation will hold a military parade for
04:14the victory in which leaders from countries such as China, Brazil and Venezuela will take part.
04:24In Santiago de Chile, a meeting was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet
04:29victory against Nazism. The conference was organized by the National Federation of Associations of
04:35Officials of the University of Chile and was attended by the Russian ambassador to Chile, Vladimir Belinsky.
04:42They gathered at the central house of the university and reviewed the historic events where the heroic
04:47deeds of the Soviet Union saved the world from Nazism. The Russian ambassador recalled that to defeat the
04:54German barbarians, the Soviet Union mobilized all the forces of the country. In detail, the
05:00meeting recalled historical battles such as those of Moscow, Leningrad, today known as St. Petersburg,
05:06Stalingrad, Kirk and Smolensk. The Great War lasted four years and cost the lives of 27 million Soviets.
05:14We cannot commemorate these 80 years without honoring the leading role of the Soviet Union,
05:27especially when in the irrationality and political cretinism in which the venerable
05:44Western Europe debates today. It has been pretended to celebrate this victory without the presence of
06:02those who achieved it. There are only a few hours left for the 133 cardinals who will elect Pope Francis
06:14successor to enter the conclave. Strong security measures are in place throughout the city and
06:19especially in the Sistine Chapel. The world conclave comes from the Latin conclave which means under lock
06:26and key and that is how the members of the College of Cardinals will be from 4.30 pm local time on Wednesday.
06:34133 cardinals from 71 countries will elect the 267th Pope of the Catholic Church that gathers more
06:43than 1.36 billion faithful. The strict security measures that must now deal with the technological
06:50challenges order via deactivation of cell phones starting at 3 pm local time.
06:56Signal jammers will also be activated in all areas surrounding the Sistine Chapel.
07:07In the Pauline Chapel in Vatican City, clergy and lady took an oath of secrecy in preparation for the
07:14conclave that will elect the new Pope. According to the University Dominici Greggis, reflected in the
07:21constitution, the Camerlengo and the three cardinal assistants have approved the observation of
07:26the officials on everything that directly or indirectly concerns the voting and the scrutiny
07:32for the election of the Supreme Court.
07:33And now we have a short break coming up but first remember you can join us on TikTok at
07:42Tel Aviv English where we will find news in different formats, news updates and more.

08:14To be right back.
08:20To be right back.
08:26Welcome back to From the South, Ecuador's electoral court filed a challenge against
08:56the results of the April 13 presidential run-off election submitted by the leftist Citizens'
09:01Revolution retro-collision.
09:03Judge Ivonne Coloma sentenced the case to be closed, accepting the request of Attorney
09:08Francisco Estrellas after the National Electoral Council rejected the request to review at least
09:1513,000 tally sheets with presumed inconsistencies.
09:20It should be noted that the Citizens' Revolution retro-collision challenged more than 28,000
09:26tally sheets, alleging numerous inconsistencies and lack of joint signatures in the sheets.
09:32Meanwhile, the Citizens' Revolution Alliance and Reto de Ecuador continues its legal fight
09:38to challenge the results, requesting the electoral court to open the ballot boxes due to the allegations
09:44of fraud.
09:49Panamanian workers are entering the third week of strike against the policies of President
09:54Raúl Molina.
09:55In addition, unions from different sectors are joining the actions in rejection of the
10:00law that seeks to reform the Social Security Fund.
10:04The Union of Construction and Similar Workers' contracts warn that the demonstrations in defense
10:10of Social Security will continue until the executive eliminates the norm.
10:15In this sense, the collective called on the different sectors to continue the strike at the national
10:20level despite the threats of repression by the authorities.
10:30Simultaneously, thousands of students of the University of Panama have been mobilizing since
10:35the morning, together with professors, graduates and administrative staff, demanding that the
10:41Molina government respect university autonomy and national sovereignty.
10:45In addition, the university community expressed its rejection of the Memorandum of Understanding
10:50signed with the United States, considering it a document that threatens national independence.
11:01In Argentina, a new transport strike is taking place after the national government rejected
11:05the salary proposal of the transport union Transviarios Automotor.
11:10According to the union, the pressure measure went into effect this Tuesday and will last 24
11:15hours in all the provinces of the country.
11:18In this context, the organization warned that if an agreement with the national government is
11:23not reached, the strike could last indefinitely.
11:27So far, dozens of transportation companies have suspended their services, which affects more
11:32than 15 million users throughout the country.
11:41In other news, Salvadoran police officers have arrested the heads of five boss companies
11:47for allegedly failing to comply with President Nayib Bukele's transportation decree.
11:52The presidential decree, which stipulated free public transportation service from May 5-11,
11:57was ordered to compensate for the closure of the Los Chorros section of the Panamerican
12:03Highway, which the Ministry of Public Works hasn't been able to solve.
12:08In this context, our studies unfolded that the detainees, among them the Chair of the
12:12National Transportation Board, Alex Sorto, would be charged with offences such as breach
12:18of duty, refusal of assistance and extortion.
12:25We recognize that we must provide a service.
12:29And we have not stopped providing it.
12:31We have shown, colleagues, how the 205 bus route has not stopped providing the service.
12:38Since the onset of this whole problem of Los Chorros traffic, we have not stopped providing
12:42the service.
12:43Bus routes, as 205 and 212 have been working.
12:48When authorities announced it yesterday, unfortunately, we were in a race against the clock.
12:53Indeed, it took us by surprise, especially when in the morning, we had meetings with governmental
12:58officials.
13:00And they had not mentioned this level of logistics was going to be carried out for today.
13:04A report by United States Intelligence Agency confirmed the lack of links between the President
13:09of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the extinct criminal group, Tren de Aragua.
13:13The document concluded that there is no evidence to prove that the Venezuelan President is associated
13:19with the organization.
13:20The announcement further denies these claims, stated by U.S. President Donald Trump, against
13:25his Venezuelan counterpart.
13:27Precisely since his return to the White House in January, Trump has promoted a narrative
13:33in which the extinct Tren de Aragua under the alleged support of the Venezuelan government
13:38constituted a threat to national security.
13:41These arguments have been used by Washington to accelerate the deportations of Venezuelan
13:46migrants in what constitutes a violation of human rights.
13:57On Monday, heavy rains caused a significant increase in the flow of the Dajabon River located
14:13along the Hadian and Dominican border, prompting alerts for residents of its surrounding areas.
14:19In this regard, no significant damage has been reported so far, but the constant rain and
14:24strong gusts of wind, which have left several areas without electricity, are keeping the
14:29community on alert.
14:31In this context, authorities on both sides of the border have set up a permanent monitoring
14:35system and are advising people to pay the utmost attention to the changes in the river
14:41and to take the necessary precautions, especially in the most vulnerable areas.

15:26Welcome back to From the South.
15:28In South Asia, mural attacks are reported between India and Pakistan after the Indian Arab forces
15:33fired missiles at nine suspected terrorist facilities in the town of Jammu and the disputed region
15:39of Kashmir.
15:41The Indian Ministry of Defense announced that its country carried out several attacks against
15:45presumed terrorist installations in Pakistani territory as part of the beginning of the
15:50so-called Operation Sindhu or aimed at eliminating this type of infrastructure.
15:55The agency specified that the offensive targeted facilities where attacks against India have been
16:00planned and perpetrated.
16:02It also stated that the operations indoor comes after the terrorist attack in the Indian
16:07town of Pahal Gham, where 25 Indian citizens and one Nepalese were killed, pointing out that
16:14they are fulfilling their commitment to defend the nation.
16:18In the aftermath, Pakistan launched a missile strike in response against the Indian territory.
16:23A group of 620 lawyers from Chile presented a new complaint against Israel to the International
16:50Criminal Court and other bodies for charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
16:55The multiple action is in addition to other denunciations already made by the group of lawyers where they
17:00previously obtained an arrest warrant against the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
17:06This lawsuit follows the attack of the Zionist troops against the Ahumanitarian Flotilla with a Maltese flag, which was carrying necessary supplies to the Gaza Strip.
17:15The complaint also seeks to ensure humanitarian access to the enclave.
17:24The Israeli army attempts to attack this fleet to prevent humanitarian aid access to Gaza, which is why, together with the lawyers Rodolfo Marconi,
17:45Juan Carlos Manriquez, Nelson Haddad, and myself, on behalf of the 620 Chilean lawyers,
18:01we have filed an action once again before the International Criminal Court to hold international crimes accountable and finally seek alternatives that will allow humanitarian aid to finally reach Gaza.
18:12But what worries and hurts us most is the silence of the international community, which, seeing this genocide being perpetrated day by day for the past 18 months in Gaza,
18:30maintains a complicit silence that challenges the moral conscience of humanity.
18:34Hundreds of Israeli protesters were on a picket line in front of the Knesset in rejection of the governmental plan of action to widen the conflict in Gaza.
18:46Local police escorted the picketers who opposed Monday's announcement that authorized colonial occupation forces to go on their offensive against the Gaza Strip.
18:56Israeli demonstrators accused the Netanyahu administration of prioritizing war escalation over a deal with a mass Palestinian movement.
19:03They further condemned their prime ministers in action to bring home the 59 Israelis that remain detained.
19:11Overall, the Sionist regime has rejected and broken all chances of a detained swap and ceasefire deal.
19:23The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced the end of the offensive against the Houthis in Yemen.
19:29The U.S. President indicated that the Yemeni group had capitulated after promising to end its attacks in the Red Sea.
19:37These statements come after the Israeli army attacked the capital city of Sana'a in retaliation for the same attack near the Tel Aviv airport.
19:45Since his arrival in Washington, Donald Trump has intensified the military campaign initiated by Joe Biden in an attempt to put an end to the Houthis attacks against military and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
19:57A soldier was killed in a clash with suspected terrorists after heavy gunfire in northwestern Pakistan on Monday.
20:08The Pakistan Army Information Office said that the 40-year-old soldier, whose identity was not disclosed, died after the clash that occurred in the middle of an anti-terrorist operation in the southwestern Pakistan district.
20:21According to the military dispatch, a total of four operations were carried out in the northeastern part of the country amid an upsurge in fighting between Pakistani forces and the resistance,
20:34leaving a total of eight suspected terrorists neutralized in addition to the soldier's death.
