00:00Protestants tried to disrupt the 45th London Marathon.
00:05The elite male runners were coming over Tower Bridge
00:08when two activists from Youth Demand jumped over the barrier and threw paint.
00:20They were arrested by police.
00:24Fortunately, it didn't deter the athletes
00:27as Kenya's Sebastian Soar finished first in the men's race.
00:31Ethiopia's Tigist Asifa won the women's,
00:35setting a new women's-only world record.
00:38And Swiss wheelchair racers Marcel Hug and Catherine Debruner clinched gold.
00:43With 56,000 people taking part overall,
00:47this year could set a record for the world's biggest marathon.
00:50All the strenuous, sweaty hours of training finally paying off.
00:56Just absolutely elated.
00:59I just want to say thank you to my coach and my mum and dad,
01:03because I'm so proud of myself and they've supported me the whole way through.
01:08And my coach really told me to believe in myself.
01:11Temperatures reached 22 degrees Celsius.
01:15Many struggled with the heat,
01:17particularly those in costumes fundraising for charities.
01:20The hottest day, just the hardest, toughest marathon.
01:27But the cheering crowds in London help motivate the athletes
01:31as they race past the city's most iconic landmarks.
01:35Far exceeded my expectations.
01:36I did Boston on Monday, so this is my second marathon this week.
01:40And I have to say London's a lot better than Boston.
01:42For some, the London Marathon is an important professional moment.
01:47I'm so proud.
01:50I'm so proud.
01:51For others, it can be a more personal journey.
01:54Either way, they're always relieved to finally cross the finishing line.
01:59Alice Porter, Sky News.
02:02Thank you, Mr. demand list.
