00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today defended Economy Minister Rafizi Rahmi's decision to go on leave, describing it as a non-issue.

00:10He said Rafizi would only be on leave for a few days and questioned whether there was a rule barring ministers from taking leave.

00:18Anwar also said that he himself was considering taking a short break after the ASEAN summit, noting that he has yet to go on leave.

00:27News of Rafizi's leave surfaced after Malaysia Kini quoted an unnamed cabinet minister as confirming it but dismissing talk of his resignation.

00:37The break came amid speculation over Rafizi's political standing, especially after the defeat of several alleged allies in PKR's recent divisional polls.

00:47A slew of prominent incumbent divisional leaders were also knocked out as members elected lesser-known figures.

00:54PKR Vice Presidents Nick Nazminik Ahmad and Kay Saraswati, PKR Youth Chief Adam Adli and several MPs were among those who lost.
