The Express & Star's Beverly Rademacher visits RunFlat International Ltd, Cradley Heath, who have won the King's Award for Enterprise.

00:00Hi we're here today at Runflat International in Cradley Heath. They've

00:05just won a King's Award for Enterprise and I'm here with Eric, the MD. So tell

00:11us a little bit about what you do Eric. So we're a company making

00:16Runflat Systems. It's a system that enables a vehicle to keep

00:21going even if the tire is deflated and you can see all sorts of examples

00:26around you here. So here we do the fitting of all the

00:30systems that we are manufacturing at the other side in Cradley Heath.

00:34So if you could tell us a little bit about your Cradley Heath site.

00:37Okay so we have one site where we install all the Runflat Systems

00:42inside the tires and on the wheels. We supply a lot of wheels as well as

00:47tires in addition to the Runflat Systems which we are manufacturing at the other

00:51site in Cradley Heath also just a few minutes away from here.

00:55We have a chemical plant and we make everything from design stage all the

01:00way to fitting on the vehicle itself. We're talking military and heavy vehicles.

01:07And how important are these products on the world stage?

01:10Pretty critical. In the wars that are occurring right now in the world we've got a lot of systems

01:17fitted and basically if the vehicle gets shot at the easiest way to stop a vehicle is to shoot at

01:23the tires to stop it. With our system the vehicle will keep going and will escape from danger.

01:30But we also do the same principle. We follow the same principle on VIP vehicles.

01:36So high dignitaries and you know ambassadors and so on around the world.

01:42Presidential suite and so on. It's the same principle just different sizes

01:47and slightly different designs and as I said we listen to what the customer wants and we make

01:56exactly the will that's required along with the specific Runflat that will go long distances,

02:02short distances depending on the requirement.

02:04And how thrilled are you to receive this recognition?

02:07It's great you know I mean we've only been in existence for 25 years as Runflat International

02:13alone and and we've gone a really long way now we recognize all around the world and I think this

02:19is this is the pinnacle if you like you know it's recognition that yes you are growing around the

02:24world and and we're giving you this this award so we're delighted absolutely delighted.
