Tesco in Cradley Heath have funded planters for Cradley Heath in Bloom across the town.
Transcript
00:00So we're here in Craley Heath on the High Street and Tesco behind us, there's a big cheque there from Tesco.
00:06Paula, what's this cheque all about?
00:08We are doing the planters down the High Street and we've raised the money from our community book table in store.
00:17So people donate books and all the money from the table goes back into the community.
00:22So we've given £700 from our book table to put the planters in the High Street for the year.
00:29So we've got Councillor Tipper here with you in the middle, say hello Councillor.
00:33Hi all.
00:33How do.
00:34And then we've got three people from Craley in Bloom, is that what we're calling it, yeah?
00:38So Vicky isn't it?
00:39Oh yeah, I'm Vicky.
00:40Vicky, so Craley in Bloom, how long's it been going for?
00:43Firstly it's Craley Heath in Bloom.
00:45Yes, I'm testing you, I'm testing you.
00:47Please don't call us Craley, no offence to Craley.
00:51We started the group in 2021, during sort of partial lockdown, had our first meeting on Teams.
00:59And it's gone from stress to stress really, it's a lovely group.
01:02So working alongside Tesco, what have you been able to give to the town?
01:06Do you know roughly how many planters that you work on?
01:09Yes, we have four or eight, we have around 11 planters I think it is now.
01:14Yeah, and that really helps just brighten the place up doesn't it?
01:19It does, it does.
01:19They look lovely in the summer I have to say.
01:21And it's just really, really nice to see a bit of colour, a bit of life in the High Street.
01:27Yeah, totally, totally.
01:29And you guys at the back there, what do you get out of helping with Craley in Bloom then?
01:34So it keeps your day busy.
01:36I've got to say, a lot more of the community are involved than me, I just sign checks.
01:41Yeah, yeah.
01:42I do stuff, but it keeps the High Street a bit cleaner.
01:46Yeah.
01:47You know, we pop up and down and because it's Tesco as well,
01:51every time we come shopping it's just check the planters out,
01:55make sure people haven't left bottles in it.
01:57Yeah, yeah.
01:58That sort of thing, you know.
01:59And Karen, so this is a great example of the community and business working together,
02:03isn't it really, to improve a place, yeah?
02:05Yeah, I think so.
02:06I think anything you need to make the High Street a more attractive place to visit
02:10is good for everybody in the town and for the businesses as well.
02:14Yeah.
02:14It might give people, it gives people a reason to stay, the more pleasant the environment is.
02:20And everybody's worked really hard on it, it's a community-led project.
02:24Yeah.
02:24And yeah, hopefully it'll go from strength to strength.
02:29So there's no plan of finishing, we'll be here next year.
02:32Hopefully.
02:33Hopefully, fingers crossed.
02:34Keep donating them books.
02:37Yeah, so people...
02:37And we always need more volunteers too.
02:39So important, you know, that people, I guess they drop the books off and they think,
02:43oh hopefully it'll do some good, but here's the physical sign of what that good, that has done.
02:49Yeah.
02:49Get me words for that.
02:50It'll make the High Street look lovely as they come shopping.
02:52Exactly, exactly.
02:53Well, well done to all involved.
02:55Guys, well done.
02:56Cheers guys.
02:56Bye bye.
