00:00my name is saran ramea i'm from west wales small place called lampeter and i've been a lawyer for
00:1120 years working in sport for the last 14 years so my job title is head of legal at the wru i've
00:18been here for three and a half years and it is a role that encompasses lots of different things
00:24not just your usual sponsorship contracts and promoter agreements but it's everything that
00:30comes through the door i was really lucky that this opportunity to come and work for the wru came
00:36about during covid i was on maternity leave at the time and i wanted to pursue the opportunity to
00:45come back to wales i'm a welsh speaker so it was a great chance to be able to pick my welsh back up
00:51and to practice law within the rugby sphere it's so important for us to share our stories
00:59because sometimes we're not very good at championing our own successes we often continue to work hard
01:06achieve well but without the recognition so we are reliant on ourselves to promote our own profile
01:12and on others to help lift us up too my biggest lesson so far has probably been uh you don't have
01:19to respond to something straight away take your time because quite often you can get a much better
01:25result if you take people along with you and have a much more considered um position on something
01:32my proudest moment at the wru is when i shortly after i joined the organization we were putting in
01:38place the first ever professional rugby player agreements for the women's team and seeing those in
01:45place and um without having gone from strength to strength was a great achievement the advice i
01:51give to my younger self would be dare to dream you don't always have to take the conventional route
01:57into being a lawyer working in sport take risks you never know what might come your way and just be brave
