00:00I'm Harrod Collins, Head of Places Welsh Rugby Union. My son has played rugby pretty much all his life so I've been involved in volunteering in rugby in various different clubs and saw an opportunity come up for Head of Places to work with the clubs across Wales and put popped an application in and here I am.
00:30It's important to share our stories because there are so many roles available in rugby that are maybe not related to on the field so there's so many different aspects of rugby on and off the field and it's important that we spread that news as far and wide as possible to get as much of a diverse workforce as we can.
00:48I think my biggest lesson so far has been that change is really difficult for people to cope with so if things need to change and things need to evolve as society changes we need to take a slow approach to introducing different aspects into rugby.
01:10So we've introduced like an online learning platform called DuskyWRU and we've introduced a toolkit so it's introduced in things slowly to ensure that the volunteers in our community game can cope with any change and they can embrace the change and we can bring them on the journey with us.
01:27So my biggest lesson in summer nap is just to do things in the right way and remember that volunteers are the hearts of our communities.
01:36They are the lifeblood of our community clubs and they're really important to us so it's important we nurture and mentor and support them as much as possible.
01:44I actually think the proudest moment is actually getting the job and I remember three years ago driving into the Principality Stadium through Gatlands Gate to come for the interview and thinking oh god I have no chance of getting this job and having a telephone call then from Geraint our community director to say that I got the role.
02:09That was probably the proudest moment and I'm three years into my post now but there's not a day that doesn't go by that I don't pinch myself when I drive into the Principality Stadium because I count myself quite lucky to be working in Welsh rugby so yeah I think the proudest moment is actually just getting the job and just working for Welsh rugby we've got a really good team year.
02:30In Ted Lasso he talks about the goldfish so you don't overthink things for more than 10 seconds and I think that's really important to keep on moving forward and also I think I tell myself when I was younger
02:46I never thought that I would be as brave maybe as I've been going through certain roles in my career and everything so I tell myself be brave and I would say remember what Ted Lasso said about the goldfish and don't overthink things for more than 10 seconds.
