00:00My name's Sarah Lewis, I'm the Women and Girls Rugby Officer for the Ospreys region.
00:10I first started rugby when I was about 11 years old, so I was in year 7 in comprehensive school,
00:16and I joined a 560 club, it was tag rugby I think, so I started going to those sessions,
00:24it wasn't long, about 3-4 sessions I think, we started a girls rugby team in the area,
00:30so I joined rugby since then.
00:34I think it's super important to share our stories because we're inspiring the next generation of girls coming through,
00:40but also there's a lot of women out there that are starting rugby at an older age if you like,
00:45so I think it's really important to see women not only playing rugby but being involved in rugby
00:51from a coaching, refereeing, administration, volunteering perspective,
00:56so the more women that are involved in the sport, the more exposure we get in the sport.
01:01The biggest lesson in my role so far, so I've been in the role for four years this year,
01:07and at the start when you first come into the role you think it's a big job to take up,
01:13but I think I'd like to think since coming into the role I've been able to, you know, increase participation,
01:20do my role, so I think that's the biggest lesson personally has just been able to complete my role.
01:28I think my proudest and biggest achievement in the role has definitely been seeing the increase of girls participation in the region,
01:38so in the Ospreys region we've increased massively over the last couple of years.
01:44We've gone from three hubs, so girls' hubs away, girls obviously participate in rugby,
01:51so we've grown from three to six hubs, and we're growing hopefully one more in the next year,
01:57so to increase to seven hubs is a big achievement,
02:00and being able to see that and see the girls, you know, participate in those hubs is massive.
02:09I think since being in the role it's just allowed me to express myself,
02:13really encourage myself to take bold moves and, yeah, just enjoy the role.
