00:00We have a Rockets player who's taking a shot.
00:04Ooh, at whom?
00:06Taking shots down 3-1?
00:08You're allowed to, but...
00:11Amin Thompson, is this taking a shot at Draymond?
00:14Is it taking a shot at the refs?
00:17Or is it both?
00:19You decide.
00:20Amin Thompson, check it out.
00:23Just talking physical out there.
00:24You know, they're just going to let one dude do whatever he wants.
00:27So, he's not going to get it to me.
00:28He should have two texts offered.
00:30You know, he can talk to them about it if you want.
00:32Okay.
00:33What Amin Thompson basically said is it's rough out there, it's physical,
00:37and there's one guy they let say whatever he wants,
00:40and they're not going to do anything about it.
00:43Dylan Brooks.
00:44I mean, hello?
00:46Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:48I mean...
00:48Dylan Brooks.
00:49Dylan Brooks, so...
00:50Dylan Brooks.
00:51Dylan Brooks, Amin.
00:53And I love the fact that you're from the Bay, from San Leandro.
00:57And all the rest of it.
00:58But you are obviously a little bit biased, as are we.
01:03But I'm going to look at this from a little bit more of a global perspective
01:06and say there are two players who are able to, quote-unquote,
01:12say and do whatever they want.
01:14And it is Draymond Green.
01:15It's also Dylan Brooks.
01:16So, I think that Draymond got the benefit of some nuance from the officials.
01:22Could they have given him a second technical foul?
01:25Sure.
01:25I thought that it was a flagrant when he rat-a-tat-tatted Eason's head with his shoes.
01:30We've seen it before.
01:32It's one of those things where you're going to be a 14-year vet,
01:35and even though you have a reputation,
01:37the first tech that he got was a reputation tech.
01:40I don't think he deserved it.
01:41And the second incident, where maybe he would have gotten his second tech,
01:46they gave him a flagrant.
01:47And they probably gave him only a flagrant and not a tech
01:50because they don't want to have a star player drummed out of the game
01:54unless they absolutely have to.
01:56Yeah, I understand that.
01:57But then again, what do we mean they're going to let someone do whatever they want
02:02and not do anything about it
02:03when the guy has a flagrant and three technicals in the series?
02:08That is doing something about it.
02:09What would you like the referees to do?
02:11Call his mom?
02:13Probably give him more technicals and be a little bit harder on Draymond Green.
02:18But actually, to me, this is a sign of weakness.
02:23This is a sign.
02:24This is another sign of the Houston Rockets' immaturity.
02:29I guarantee you when Draymond hears this,
02:32that's a big, huge smile on his face.
02:34Like, the fact that Ahmed Thompson believes that Draymond Green is getting away
02:41with this, that, or the other on the floor
02:42is, quite frankly, hilarious.
02:47Hilarious.
02:47You don't get to feel that way if you're the Houston Rockets.
02:50You have Dylan Brooks on your team,
02:52you have Imei Udoka as your coach,
02:54and you are one of the most physically gifted defensive teams in the league.
02:58You have gotten to where you are by instigating.
03:00Now, if all you're doing is talking about talking,
03:04because Draymond is the biggest talker on the court,
03:08well, I'm sorry if that bothers you.
03:11That's literally what he's trying to do.
03:13And I don't believe that talking should,
03:16you and I have had this conversation before,
03:18I really don't believe that talking,
03:20unless we're talking about really excessive stuff,
03:23should ever lead to punishment.
03:25Say whatever the hell you want.
03:27I mean, if it really gets out of line,
03:31or if it just directly leads to fighting,
03:34okay, or if you just won't stop,
03:39okay, but talking?
03:42What is it you would like the league to do
03:44because someone's talking?
03:45Right, they're all talking.
03:47He can do whatever he wants.
03:48If you want to talk about who's talking,
03:50Jimmy Butler was the one doing the talking last night.
03:52For sure.
03:53When he was using the B word to talk about Dylan Brooks,
03:56and the B word that he was using was not Brooks,
03:58I don't believe.
03:59I'm not an expert lip reader,
04:01but I don't think that he was saying you're a Brooks.
04:03I think that he was saying you're something else.
04:06So Draymond Green leads the playoffs
04:08in technical fouls with three.
04:10So clearly, in three of the four games,
04:13the officials have decided that his talking,
04:15or his histrionics, his theatrics,
04:18whatever it is that Draymond is doing,
04:20they are rebuking him with technical fouls.
04:23Exactly.
04:24So if Ahmed is intimating that it is Draymond,
04:27I don't know who else he'd be talking about.
04:28Maybe he's talking about the chef,
04:30and they finally got him.
04:31He's talking about Draymond.
04:32Of course.
04:32So then what are we even,
04:34what are we doing here, Ahmed?
04:36Because Draymond's been in the league for 14 years,
04:38and if you want to total up all the techs
04:40over the last 14 years that Draymond's gotten,
04:44he's been in the top five in the league
04:46in each of the last 10 seasons.
04:48Well, and here's the way I would sort of,
04:51and again, this is painting with too broad of a brush,
04:54but at the same time,
04:55this is how I would describe
04:57the instigating nature of Draymond
05:00versus the instigating nature of Dylan Brooks.
05:03Draymond is much more of a talker.
05:05Draymond is probably the most talkative player in the league.
05:09Anthony Edwards actually said that recently.
05:11They asked him before the playoffs started,
05:13there's one team you could go against,
05:15who would it be?
05:16I said, Warriors, I want to get the Warriors
05:18because Draymond talks the most mess in the whole league,
05:22and I want it.
05:23So that's interesting,
05:24and let's leave that over here
05:25in case that series does actually end up happening.
05:28But Draymond is much more with the words,
05:31and Dylan is much more with the action.
05:34Dylan is much more physical.
05:36Dylan is, I think,
05:38pushes the line a little bit more with hard fouls
05:43and acts of,
05:46I don't want to call them violence,
05:47but similar to what he did with Steph last night,
05:51punching at the ball.
05:52Dylan leans a little bit more that direction.
05:54Draymond leans a little bit more the direction of talking.
05:57And to me,
05:58what's more legal?
06:00The talking part.
06:01I'd rather go up against that
06:04than somebody who's actually going to give you
06:06the shoulder shiver
06:07when you're running by.
06:09They're both capable of it,
06:10but Dylan leans that direction more,
06:12don't you think?
06:13He does it in a more direct way.
06:15Intense.
06:17It's urgent.
06:18Sports, man.
06:19You badly want to win.
06:21I do think that some,
06:23and I hate the word decorum,
06:25I really don't like it
06:26because it's too stuffy for my taste.
06:29Decorum.
06:29But on some level,
06:31you have to remember
06:32you're still,
06:34you're playing sports
06:35and there are rules.
06:37And you have to fit into that box.
06:40So,
06:41I could go over to the other team's huddle.
06:44I could intentionally try to hurt someone.
06:48I could go over to the other team's locker room.
06:50No one's going to stop me.
06:52I could do all of these things,
06:54but don't.
06:57It's almost like,
06:58and I don't want to get uber serious here,
07:00but like,
07:00I've always wondered about the phrase war crimes.
07:04I'm like,
07:04how do you,
07:05how do y'all go out there with machine guns
07:07and then you got rules?
07:09Well,
07:09there are rules.
07:10There are.
07:10There are.
07:11There should be.
07:12And supposedly,
07:13there's like,
07:14well,
07:14we,
07:14like we can shoot other people,
07:17but we're not supposed to cross that line over there.
07:19Okay,
07:19that's different,
07:20but this is the sports version of that.
07:22Like,
07:22dude,
07:23we,
07:23please,
07:24just fit in the box for a second.
07:26I get it.
07:27You're a live wire.
07:28You're an amazing athlete.
07:29You badly want to win,
07:31but yeah,
07:32don't try to hurt other people.
07:34Don't go get on the other team's bench.
07:36Don't be a moron.
07:38Like,
07:38we're trying to enjoy this
07:40and have it be entertaining.
07:42Be physical.
07:43Do what you need to do,
07:44but not by any means necessary.
07:47Yeah,
07:47exactly.
07:48Unwritten rules is another way to put it,
07:50and the NBA has the code,
07:52and Steve Kerr talked about how Dylan Brooks broke the code,
07:55and he absolutely did when he fouled GP2 in the head,
07:59when GP2 was exposed and in the air,
08:02he broke the code.
08:02There aren't that many other codes in the NBA.
08:06One of them is,
08:07if you're up by eight with seven seconds left,
08:10and you get the ball back,
08:11you don't go down and shoot a three or dunk.
08:13You just dribble out the game.
08:14That's the code,
08:15right?
08:16And you see it all the time,
08:17even though you might be on the side with the team up eight,
08:21and you're laying eight and a half,
08:22and you're thinking,
08:23just go shoot a layup.
08:24Just give me a layup so we can cover this number,
08:27but they don't do that because it's the code,
08:29and maybe the code also can be,
08:32or maybe it is.
08:33Like,
08:33if we're going to huddle,
08:34then you don't come and get in our huddle,
08:37because you're going to huddle,
08:38and if,
08:39okay,
08:39now I'm going to get in your huddle,
08:40and you're going to get in my huddle,
08:41now we're going to push each other.
08:42It's like,
08:43can we have a conversation with teammates,
08:45and not have you,
08:46like,
08:46ear hustling,
08:47and trying to get in the mix?
08:48It's just kind of lame.
08:49That's a very good example that you bring up.
08:51Like,
08:51I think it's kind of one of those things where you almost,
08:55despite the intensity,
08:57keep the headspace open for,
09:00look,
09:01they're trying to compete and win,
09:03we're trying to compete and win,
09:05let's do that with our group,
09:07and let them do that with their group,
09:09and then,
09:10right,
09:11like,
09:11then we go out there and compete,
09:12and may the best team win.
09:14There has to be some sort of a baseline respect for the process,
09:18I guess is what I'm saying.
09:19Yeah,
09:20I like your use of decorum,
09:21but it had me thinking about,
09:22like,
09:23which fork is the salad fork,
09:25and,
09:25you know,
09:25nobody knows that.
09:26Exactly.
09:27Nobody knows.
09:27Well,
09:27the one with the three tines,
09:28I think,
09:29but I never know if I'm setting the table,
09:31which one goes where,
09:32and the rest of it.
09:32I don't have a lot of decorum,
09:34so.
09:34Yeah,
09:34me neither,
09:35but I think,
09:36don't you,
09:37like,
09:37outside in,
09:38I believe,
09:38right?
09:38Like,
09:39yeah,
09:39as the meal goes,
09:40you get the silverware that's closer to your plate.
09:43Is that right?
09:44I think so.
09:44Yeah.
09:45Okay.
09:46I never went to any of those classes.
09:48Anytime I get to a restaurant,
09:50and there's more than just,
09:51you know,
09:51you can give me two forks,
09:53a knife,
09:54and a spoon.
09:54Okay.
09:55I can work with that,
09:56but if we've got multiple forks,
09:58multiple spoons,
09:59multiple knives,
10:00and if there's silverware across the top,
10:02now I'm going to get confused.
10:03Well,
10:03no,
10:03that's not supposed to be there.
10:05That's not,
10:05yeah,
10:05we're not doing that.
10:07Smaller fork is the salad fork?
10:08I thought so.
10:09Bigger fork is for the meat.
10:12Or the pasta.
10:13Yeah.
10:15Okay.
10:15Okay.
10:15Again,
10:16I'm not known for my decorum.
