00:00The yearly thing, just want to say happy birthday to my nephew Gavin Newsom.
00:04And that's what life's about.
00:06Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:10One of a kind.
00:11Let me do this first.
00:14Crossovers brought to you by Abundant Life Weight Loss.

00:22Go to AbundantLifeWeightLoss.com
00:25Gavin Souza, my nephew.
00:28Welcome to Dipson.
00:29I've always been like, you guys look a little bit alike.
00:35A little bit.
00:36I would give you an early four.
00:37It's like when you smile.
00:39I'm like, yeah.
00:39Got the hair.
00:40A little like, right?
00:41A little crinkle next to the eyes.
00:43I'm like, they look.
00:44I can see the resemblance.
00:46I can see it.
00:48How your boys doing?
00:50Better than the Warriors.
00:52Disappointing.
00:52They're fine.
00:53But I want to give Dips some credit.
00:54You said the Rockets had action.
00:56Yeah.
00:57And I want to commend you.
00:58And I just look at the way things go in a series.
01:03And the Rockets were really bad shooting the ball in game one.
01:07And to think that they would be that bad again, I thought was far-fetched.
01:11And Jalen Green, eight threes.
01:13Okay.
01:13That is the other end of the spectrum.
01:16What do you think?
01:17Jalen Green, game one, to Jalen Green, game two.
01:21Will the real Jalen Green please stand up?
01:24And please stand up?
01:25And he probably will in game three.
01:27Because the real Jalen Green is between those two, right?
01:30Right.
01:30I mean, he's not.
01:31Game two, Jalen is like, okay, you might be the greatest player of all time.
01:35So, beyond that, the physicality is something that I looked at the ref assignments.
01:41And you look at what they've done as a crew.
01:43They don't call a lot of fouls.
01:45And they called fewer fouls than the playoff average this year.
01:4938 total between both teams.
01:51Right.
01:51And that's a little bit below the average.
01:53And so, I looked at the matchup and the desperation and all the rest of it.
01:56And I thought that it was a game that Houston could win, needed to win.
02:00And then, yeah, the Jimmy Butler thing happened.
02:02And Pods was sick.
02:04And so, you had Pat and Guy and Quentin.
02:07And, I mean, what are we doing at this point, right?
02:09You're going to lose.
02:11You're going to lose.
02:11And Kaminga, Willard.
02:13And I owe you an apology.
02:14Mark, your thoughts?
02:15Real quick, Sonny.
02:16What are you going to owe me an apology for?
02:17My intel had you, and I said it on air, is you thinking the play on Butler was dirty along with dibs.
02:22And you hadn't said that.
02:24And I let the person know I ain't going to dime him out.
02:27I let him know.
02:27No, I didn't see it that way.
02:29I didn't see it as, like, just a total nothing.
02:32Exactly.
02:33But I didn't see it as, like, targeted, strategic and dirty.
02:36Too much was going on.
02:37Yeah, I mean, the guy, he lost his balance.
02:39He's going down.
02:40Draymond gave him a little OG.
02:42I didn't really see Draymond giving him a shove either.
02:44Like, it's just bodies getting tangled, and he started to get launched forward.
02:48And it's super, super unfortunate.
02:51I did not have a huge issue with Ahmed Thompson.
02:56And quite frankly, the physicality of the game, it is what it is.
03:04And the Warriors are plenty guilty of all kinds of physical behavior out there, too.
03:10So I have no issue with that.
03:11But I do have an issue with something that both of you have been saying.
03:16Go ahead.
03:17I don't understand why you guys twofold.
03:21Why are you blowing off the way that they are clearly, the way that they have been coached to guard Steph?
03:29And why are you saying that because he said in front of a microphone, no big deal, that means no big deal?
03:37Of course he's not going to whine in front of a microphone.
03:40He's a legit superstar, and he's not a baby.
03:44You don't go to the press conference after game two of a series, oh, they're holding me.
03:50You don't do that.
03:51But we used to see that with Phil Jackson and all coaches.
03:53But that's for the coach to do.
03:55And you may see that later on, or you may, who knows what's happening behind the scenes.
03:59But to me, there's two separate issues here.
04:02The physicality of the series, everybody's guilty.
04:04But there's only one person who's being guarded that way.
04:10I'll let you take it, Stiney.
04:11There's only one person who clearly, because it's not even just physicality, it's the same maneuver.
04:18It's the wrapping of the arms at the waist as you are in front of him or as he goes by.
04:24It's a slap.
04:25It's a tug.
04:26It's a pull.
04:27I don't, Pods didn't get in guard that way.
04:29And Jalen Green is not getting guarded that way.
04:32It's been coached.
04:33It's not legal.
04:35And the referees who have a ridiculous assignment in this series have not stopped it.
04:40And that is not good.
04:42It's not good for viewing, and it's not good for the Warriors, obviously.
04:45What you're talking about where they wrap around the guy, I've seen more and more of that in the league from a bunch of other teams.
04:53Now, Curry may get it more than anybody else.
04:55Why did Draymond and Curry say game one was more physical?
05:00Because they're Draymond and Curry, and they're not going to use press conference microphones to complain about calls.
05:06But why wouldn't they say, yeah, it was as physical, it was more physical.
05:11Do you believe them, that it was less physical?
05:13I have no reason not to.
05:15But what I'm talking about with Curry is not an umbrella idea of the physicality of the game.
05:21That is simply the way the Rockets have clearly decided on a chalkboard how we're going to guard and what we're going to do to Steph Curry.
05:32And we're going to dare the officials to call this both on and off the ball.
05:36And for the most part, they haven't.
05:38I'm being real.
05:38He's getting to.
05:39He's getting to.
05:40Did you say this?
05:41And I'm asking.
05:41Absolutely.
05:42That's dibs.
05:43Absolutely.
05:44I've seen it every single day.
05:45In fact, you see it from more people than just the Rockets.
05:47They're probably the best at it and they're the most consistent with it.
05:51And now we're going to see a bunch of games in a row.
05:53And so that's going to ramp up everybody's emotions about it.
05:56But the guy's getting tackled.
05:58He's getting tackled when he tries to dribble by Pete.
06:00That's a foul.
06:01It's a foul.
06:02And it doesn't usually get called because they're not calling a lot of fouls.
06:07Where are you at on that, Dibs?
06:08Well, if that is the case.
06:10And, you know, the premise is one that is probably accurate.
06:14And so if I'm Steph Curry and this is the reality of the situation and going about it the way he goes about it, which is gentlemanly.
06:22Yeah, he ain't saying a word.
06:24He's not going to go and, quote, cry at a press conference.
06:27Whatever he's doing is not working.
06:30It's not getting the results that Mark and many other people want, which is more calls.
06:36So maybe at this point it's time to get a little bit more aggressive with your approach to how things are going.
06:42Willard, just give me a letter grade for this.
06:45A couple Sundays ago they came in here and won and the world heard Udoka say when they complain and Steph was a part of it, that means you got him up here.
06:54I'm wondering if the Warriors are kind of holding back from doing that, playing into that, or what other reason did Dibs mention?
07:02Would Steph not go to that podium or even Kerr for that matter and say, this is ridiculous.
07:07So I got to feel like they're a good defensive team, the Rockets are.
07:12Maybe game three after Saturday we hear more from the players.
07:17I don't think we will.
07:18Even the quote-unquote complaining that Udoka talked about two weeks ago wasn't at a press conference.
07:25It was on the court.
07:26These guys are champs, dude.
07:28They're not going to do that.
07:29It's a total sign of weakness.
07:30You might as well take a bullhorn and go to the opponent's locker room and be like, we're scared.
07:37They're not going to come out and complain about calls because they're way too professional for that.
07:44And it would be letting Houston see that you're sweating.
07:47So they're not going to do that.
07:49They're always, I feel like, in the press conference when you see these guys, almost always, they're always going to have that look in their eye like, we got this.
07:57We're fine.
08:00Just leaving the part out about whether he's getting manhandled or not, I don't think it's just Houston.
08:11No, it's not.
08:11I mean, if you get Minnesota, McDaniels is going to do it.
08:15If you get L.A., Vanderbilt's going to be a wild man.
08:20If you get OKC, Caruso and one of their athletes is going to take that role.
08:25And who's the other team?
08:26Denver?
08:27Well, Denver might not have somebody quite like that.
08:29Denver's not going to get out of this round.
08:31But anyway, like, you're not wrong.
08:34But that's where, and again, I'm not, I have no interest in coming down the road of the officials today.
08:39This is, this is.
08:40I thought that's where you were going to.
08:41No.
08:42Impossible job.
08:43Just like it is.
08:45This is an impossible situation because every player is fouling someone on every play.
08:50And I'm getting that from the Clippers in Denver.
08:52It's out of control.
08:53Like I'm hearing the thugs on the floor.
08:55Yeah, it's worse in this series.
08:57And I don't know if it's the approach is more physical or if it's just the technical players that are in this series.
09:04But you heard a lot of people say this, and I kind of agree with them.
09:07That did not look like a basketball game last year.
09:10No, I'm hearing that left and right.
09:11It looks like a football game.
09:14And that's not great.
09:15That's not what the league wants.
09:17But how do you fix it?
09:18I don't want the officials to stop the play on every play.
09:21So is that why the Warriors, this was the fifth time in seven games, not playoff games, all of them,
09:26that they've yet to hit the C-note 100 points against the Rockets because they're finessing the refs?
09:31I don't know.
09:32I don't think they're finessing the refs.
09:33It's just this matchup.
09:35That's this matchup.
09:36It is two of the best defensive teams in the NBA.
09:40So, you know, yeah, they're good.
09:44You're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGMZ FM and HD1 San Francisco, always live on the free Odyssey app.
09:51Now broadcasting from the Laughing Monk studios, Laughing Monk righteously brewed in San Francisco.
09:58I mean, we saw Kaminga last night, played 26 minutes.
10:02Incredible.
10:02I don't think you can expect any more out of him than he tried to give last night.
10:09He wasn't great.
10:10Nobody was.
10:11But it looks like if Butler misses Saturday's game, there's no doubt he's got to play.
10:18If Butler does not play, he has to play, right?
10:22Has to.
10:23And Willard, how it comes from a circle.
10:25I just wanted to make sure.
10:27But if Butler does play, he has to not play.
10:30See, I don't know.
10:31I want to make sure that stays in the conversation, too.
10:34But do you think that's on the board?
10:36I'm starting to wonder.
10:37Which?
10:38Butler playing?
10:38Butler plays.
10:39It's completely on the board.
10:40And curse.
10:41Like, we need some length.
10:42We need.
10:43He can't give us 38.
10:45And again, Butler wasn't out there to get the 38.
10:47Yeah.
10:48You guys are right.
10:50I don't think there's any room to come at Kaminga today.
10:52None.
10:53What an impossible situation.
10:55Rusty.
10:56Mentally hit.
10:57And then it's like, okay, dude.
10:59Asking for a challenge.
11:00Stiney pointed that out.
11:01Don't do it.
11:02Go bring us back from down double digits in the second quarter.
11:05Impossible.
11:06Impossible situation.
11:07So he did some good things.
11:08He did some things that remind everybody why he's on the bench, too.
11:11And that's fine.
11:13As you just said, Stiney.
11:14Nobody else was great either.
11:16But this, like, I felt like we had all agreed on this.
11:23He said we agreed.
11:24We had reached the end of the conversation.
11:27It was over.
11:28That when Jimmy and Draymond are out there together, there is no, like, they have a lot of data here.
11:35There's no Kaminga.
11:36It doesn't work.
11:37And last night should not change anyone's mind on that.
11:40That's what I see.
11:41I mean, that's the way it's going to be.
11:44And I do think that when you look at the severity of the Butler fall and what we know about pelvic contusions, for me, it's a tailbone bruise.
11:53But whatever you want to call it.
11:54Yeah, exactly.
11:55And, you know, having suffered through an injury like that myself, never having tried to play basketball through it.
12:01But what do we know about the other injuries like this?
12:05Well, Steph Curry missed a week, and could he have come back sooner if they were playoff games?
12:10Maybe.
12:10But even when he came back, he had a pad on his tailbone, and Kaminga got hurt, and he missed a game or two, and then he was out of the rotation anyway.
12:18So for me to think that Jimmy Butler will be ready for game three is hopeful thinking.
12:24I would expect, based on the severity of the fall and what we know about these injuries, I would expect that he doesn't play game three.
12:32And, Stony, go ahead.
12:33Well, you know what I'd like to see now that you brought it up is, when Curry came back from the back, how'd he play?
12:40I can't remember, because I can't remember the exact game he came back.
12:44Remember, he missed Miami and Atlanta.
12:46Those were the games, right?
12:47And they lost them both, right?
12:48He came back into a couple of real patsy games.
12:51Isn't it Charlotte?
12:52It was New Orleans and San Antonio, and then he had 56 in Memphis.
12:57But the New Orleans game, they were sleepy.
12:59That's right.
13:00Remember?
13:00That's right.
13:01That's right.
13:02They were shaking them.
13:03That was nasty.
13:04You're right.
13:05They didn't pull away until those five minutes to go in the game.
13:09Yeah, that's right.
13:10I forgot about that.
13:12Yeah, I don't know.
13:14I mean, I know it looked like it really hurt.
13:18Oh, yeah.
13:19My goodness.
13:20Don't you think, though, we were talking about this just down the hall.
13:23Let's go back to that road trip when Steph had this injury.
13:26He sits out in Miami.
13:27Remember, he worked out before the game, and he was questionable, and he sat out.
13:32If that's a playoff game.
13:34That's what Stani was alluding to today.
13:36He's in.
13:37When Div said that, I'm like, but that was a bad spiel.
13:40And that was five days after the injury.
13:43That was five days later, not three.
13:44Right.
13:44So, yeah, I agree that Jimmy is very iffy Saturday.
13:49I would be surprised if he misses more than that.
13:52Right.
13:52But what the hell do I know?
13:54That's just tea leaves reading.
13:55Yeah, and stay tuned to Willard and Dibbs, and hopefully the MRI results will come out.
13:59And based on the fall, and maybe we can get an emergency docpandia, and I know he'll weigh in via text and whatnot, but that sort of an injury for me is more of an x-ray thing where you do the x-ray to see if there's a bone that's broken or fractured.
14:15An MRI for that sort of an injury, unless there's like a muscle pole or, I don't know, ligament or tendon, I don't know what the MRI is going to show that the x-ray doesn't.
14:25So, for me, it's obviously precautionary, but...
14:28It's pain tolerance.
14:29Yeah, right.
14:30It's pain tolerance, but that's one of those weird ones where...
14:33Range of motion, too.
14:35Well, that's what pain tolerance prevents.
14:38I mean, anybody's got a bad back, it's like when you get it, that's it.
14:43I mean, it hurts, and so you don't keep going in the direction that makes it hurt.
14:49Like, he's probably in more pain today than it was last night.
14:51Oh, no doubt.
14:52And I'm going to keep it real.
14:53He's changed everything.
14:55Jimmy Butler.
14:56So, let's just say he doesn't play Saturday.
14:59I'll look at all three of you and be honest.
15:01With this rocket defense and kind of what we saw yesterday, and I'm the Warriors in five guy, I'm nervous.
15:08And Stani was like, well, why would you be nervous?
15:10But I'm just putting some respect on Jimmy's name.
15:13Without him, he's changed everything.
15:15What I said was, if Jimmy plays, it's still not an automatic win.
15:21No, and I don't think it's an automatic loss if he doesn't.
15:24Exactly.
15:25Here's what I would say, especially because it's game three energy.
15:28Anybody who plays their first home game of the playoffs, there's a big wave, right?
15:33That's a tidal wave.
15:35And also, the role players tend to play a lot better.
15:37So, I could completely see Pods and Moody hitting a bunch of threes on Saturday.
15:41All right.
15:42Or, if Jimmy's out, Kaminga could have a night.
15:46Could absolutely have a night.
15:47So, I think that they could win game three without him.
15:52I don't think they can win the series without him.
15:55If he were to miss the rest of the series, or if he were to miss three or four games,
15:59I think they're cooked.
16:01I think they're not that great of a team without him.
16:03This was kind of a sidelight, let's say, of the game last night.
16:08But, as it relates to Pajemski, so Pajemski's got, let's call it food poisoning.
16:15Okay.
16:16So, he's got two choices.
16:18He cannot play, and people will say, you're not playing?
16:23Food poisoning?
16:25Well, Jordan had that in game six, and he played.
16:27And so, you know, oh, you've got to play.
16:30You've got to be a gamer.
16:32He goes out and plays, and he's the worst player on the court.
16:35And he hurts you.
16:35Now, he didn't cost you the game, but, like, it's just a lose-lose situation
16:42for both the player and the team in those situations.
16:46It's just, you can't win.
16:48If you're not feeling great, and you don't play, you're so,
16:53how could you sit out game two with a little tummy ache?
16:57But he played, and he clearly was not.
17:01He was not.
17:01My boy Spencer showed up.
17:03You know, he was bad, and then he goes out, and he goes in the locker room,
17:07and he gets an IV.
17:08So, clearly, whatever he was going through caused him to lose, shall we say, fluids.
17:13Right.
17:13Yeah.
17:13I'm not saying if it was north or south or maybe both directions where he was losing
17:18fluids, but you get an IV, and you go back out there, and you're still not very good.
17:24You're still not doing nothing.
17:25Yeah, but at the same time, and I'm going to invoke Doc Pandia again, because he had
17:30a great tweet after Pat Spencer went out there and was on fire.
17:35It's classic Doc Pandia, jersey in the cart.
17:37Oh, that's his thing.
17:38Number 61.
17:40So, look for Pandia in a Pat Spencer.
17:44Patty!
17:44I mean, because Pat came in there.
17:46It's like, oh, my God.
17:47And they got into it.
17:48Pretty fun, yeah.
17:49Make those.
17:50Oh, you can get one, yeah.
17:51Jersey in the cart with no name, and you've got to take it somewhere and have a name.
17:56I don't think that's one purchase.
17:58That's two purchases to get a Pat Spencer jersey.
18:00Maybe not after last night.
18:01Maybe not.
18:02You made this point in the green room about, like, so Jimmy gets hurt first quarter, and
18:06Pods is mostly useless, and Steph is subpar, and yet you're in it in the fourth quarter?
18:13Like, if you're looking for the glass being half full, that for me is the glass half full
18:17where two of your five starters were mostly unavailable, and then your superstar was, I
18:23mean, Steph was, he was all right.
18:25Six turnovers.
18:26And you know what?
18:27I don't know if you guys have said it.
18:29I haven't heard of the whole show.
18:30I've been in the office since 10-01, but Draymond Green was awful.
18:34He was very bad.
18:35I didn't use that same word.
18:36He was very bad.
18:38He was frustrating last night.
18:40Wow.
18:40All of the Draymond ways.
18:42Throwing the ball away, getting into multiple tussles, technical foul.
18:46And he got the tech, as I predicted yesterday.
18:48Yep, he got that.
18:48You didn't get both, right?
18:49Dillon didn't get one, did he?
18:50No, but he probably should have and could have, but.
18:53Totally.
18:53Totally.
18:54He used your words.
18:55He said awful.
18:56Draymond was, Draymond was not good.
18:59And you also left out, Jalen Green careered it.
19:03I mean, I know you said that off the top.
19:04He, yeah.
19:05He shoved me.
19:06Yeah, that belongs in that conversation.
19:08Like, good for him.
19:09He was the best player on the floor, and the best player on the floor usually wins a playoff
19:13game, and last night it was him.
19:14I just wonder if they, because again, I keep going back to that Sunday, a few Sundays ago,
19:18the regular season.
19:20Did they figure something out, or is the mindset, their psyche like, we got action, we can't
19:26wait?
19:27Because they're so young.
19:28I don't want to say basketball dumb.
19:30They're so young.
19:32Will they play better and freer outside of being at home?
19:35I just thought, you know, sometimes that happens.
19:37Like, Tupac, it's us against the world now.
19:40Let's go.
19:40We got one, Dibs.
19:42Let's play free, like we did a couple Sundays ago.
19:46I don't know, but I felt like they were tight.
19:48Even with that lead yesterday, they got it done.
19:51Shocked me.
19:51But I'm like, I don't like that part about this game Saturday, where they feel like,
19:56you know what?
19:56We can just kind of let it hang.
19:58It depends on who's playing for the Warriors.
20:00And if you've got Jimmy Butler, then I don't think that Houston's going to be able to free
20:03wheel it like that.
20:04But you look at yesterday, and the Warriors turned it over five more times, and Houston
20:09had 14 more rebounds.
20:11And Houston shot it better from the floor, and better from the foul line, which is the
20:17thing.
20:17But the Warriors, 43 of 80 shots, threes, that's how important.
20:23Diversify your portfolio with these.
20:25That's too many threes, man.
20:27And you're down.
20:28I mean, you're down.
20:28You're down by double digits the whole game.
20:30Yeah.
20:31Because you're down 8-1 with that, too.
20:33As for the Rockets playing free, I don't know.
20:37I don't see it.
20:39And here's why.
20:40This will be, and I know that they played their first playoff game ever.
20:45Of course, Van Vliet, but the big boys, first playoff game ever.
20:50Well, you know, it's their first road playoff game.
20:53Prime time.
20:54And I'm imagining, if they're up five, with nine minutes to go, and here come the Warriors,
21:03and the crowd's going crazy, I don't see them playing free.
21:07All right.
21:08All right.
21:08That's all.
21:08That's all.
21:09I'm in possession.
21:11I agree with you.
21:12No, Saturday's going to be hard for, and Monday will, too.
21:16Saturday and Monday are going to be really hard for the Rockets.
21:20All right, gentlemen.
21:20We'll have a great show.
21:22You out?
21:24Oh.
21:25I just love what we do, and I don't even look.
21:27You can see.
21:28Hey, I'm getting a little touch-up on the hair today at 2.30.
21:32Look at him.
21:33Jackson Square Salon.
21:35Don't sleep on it.
21:36On 95.7, The Game.
