00:03Every year on April 28, people around the world come together to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work,

00:10a reminder of the critical need to uphold safety standards and prioritize employee well-being.

00:17The day shines a spotlight on work-related injuries, illnesses,

00:21and the urgent call to create healthier, safer environments all across the sectors.

00:27PTV correspondent Bien Manalo has this report.

00:57...that will protect the welfare of all Filipino workers,

01:00as well as to strengthen the implementation of occupational health,

01:04which centers on giving assistance to work-related injuries and illnesses.

01:09President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the government's commitment

01:16to continue prioritizing the protection of our workers

01:21and the promotion of safety and health in all workplaces

01:26guided by international labor standards and conventions.

01:31The celebration also recognized the significance of utilizing modern technology and innovation

01:38in effectively implementing workplace health and safety programs in working environments,

01:43as well as the effects of digital technology and innovation in workplaces.

01:48In fact, DOLE targets to achieve a universal broadband coverage

01:52that will create more job opportunities for Filipinos,

01:55including digitalization, which will assist in increasing the employment rate in the country.
