00:00It's one of the biggest events in the social calendar for a lot of people who live in nearby
00:06stations, but also attracts a lot of people from other parts of WA and the eastern states.
00:11Organisers are telling us that they expect that more than 800 people are going to make
00:15the journey here to the Nullarbor for the event.
00:17We're in a pretty remote part of the country as well, we're in the eastern corner of the
00:21federal seat of O'Connor, that's near the South Australian border, and it's a pretty
00:25big electorate.
00:26It's the third largest in the country at more than one million square kilometres.
00:31It's a pretty safe Liberal seat as well, with incumbent candidate Rick Wilson currently
00:35holding that seat.
00:37And whilst not everyone here is from WA, what is common to a lot of people is that they're
00:41from pretty regional and remote parts of the country, so we ask them what matters to the
00:46most ahead of the federal election.
00:48Oh, I just want to go to Coles and block a cheese for ten bucks, I mean, what are you
00:51doing Coles?
00:52Like, get a grip.
00:53Other than that, yeah, I don't know a whole lot about politics.
00:57Me and my family have always supported Labor, but since we've always been around the outdoors,
01:02Labor's kind of putting that off us.
01:05They're trying to take away our gun laws, fishing spots and stuff.
01:07This election, a lot of it's dealing with all the sheep and all that.
01:11I want to keep the sheep, because that's quite a major part of WA's economy and all that,
01:16you know, plenty of mates that deal with sheep all the time and I kind of want to support
01:21them as well.
01:22So, yeah, keep the sheep.
01:23Having, like, your mental health care covered under Medicare, so when people are struggling
01:27who can't afford, like, their money to go and pay for a counsellor, they can have it covered
01:31through Medicare and not have to worry about all the, like, big costs that they have under
01:35them.
01:36I've already set up camp here for a weekend full of bull riding and country music and
01:41whilst a lot of people will be heading to the polls next week, at least for now, rodeo
01:45goers are a little bit more focused on what judges will be voting on in the arena tonight.
