00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Plenty of unsettled weather as we head towards the weekend. Multiple
00:06Met Office warnings in force, including two for snow and ice across much of England and
00:10Wales over the weekend, so do make sure you stay up to date with those on our website
00:15and also on our app. To end the day on Friday though, there's actually plenty of sunshine
00:20around. High pressure stretches across the UK, bringing us a cold northerly flow, so
00:24we still remain in this cold air mass, so although plenty of sunshine, it's still going
00:28to be feeling chilly. Then it's all eyes on this area of low pressure as we head into
00:32Saturday, pushing up from the southwest. It will bring in a brief mild spell, yes, but
00:36that any of this rain is falling into colder air, so likely to see some snow as we head
00:41towards the weekend, particularly for northern areas. Once again, it is going to be falling
00:45to lower levels too, not just over hilly areas. To end on Friday though, as I say, there's
00:50plenty of dry weather around, plenty of sunshine, though it is still feeling chilly. Still can't
00:54rule out some showers though, particularly around western coasts, northern coasts of
00:58Wales, northwest England, also around coasts of Northern Ireland, and particularly showers
01:02across Scotland too. These likely falling as snow, once again mainly over hills, but
01:07we could see some flurries to lower levels too. Into the afternoon though, there should
01:12still be, for the majority of the country, plenty of sunshine around. Feeling cold though,
01:16highs only reaching around 4-5 Celsius in the south. Into the evening, as soon as that
01:22sun dips away, it is going to be turning cold again. Once again, a widespread sharp
01:26frost likely, including a risk of ice, particularly across the northern half of the country where
01:31there is a Yellow Met Office warning in force. Plenty of dry weather, plenty of clear spells,
01:35but once again, can't rule out some showers around western coasts. Once again, it is going
01:39to be a very cold night on offer, widely temperatures dropping below zero, particularly in rural
01:44areas. Once again though, to start on Saturday, there will be plenty of dry weather to start,
01:50plenty of sunshine, still those showers around those north-western coasts. And then it's
01:54from the south-west as we head towards the middle part of the morning that we'll start
01:58to see that change. Clouds spilling in here, also some outbreaks of rain, and we may just
02:02start to see some flurries of snow across high ground, across southern parts of Wales
02:06and south-west England. But away from this, once again plenty of dry weather around, just
02:11still those showers in the far north-west, and it is still going to be feeling chilly.
02:16Then for Saturday, that's when we start to see the unsettled weather continue to move
02:20in its way from the south-west. This area of low pressure will push in these frontal
02:24systems, once again moving into that colder air mass, so seeing some outbreaks of snow
02:28and also a risk of freezing rain across southern parts of Wales in particular. So, likely to
02:34see some icy stretches by the time we reach Sunday, so do take care if you're out and
02:38about this weekend. But generally, the unsettled weather is going to be more widespread. As
02:42I said earlier, there are a couple of amber warnings in force for snow and ice across
02:47parts of Wales and England too. So, widespread disruption likely, outbreaks of rain, sleet
02:52and also snow, particularly to lower levels across northern parts of England, perhaps
02:56later on into Northern Ireland too. So, an unsettled weekend ahead. As I say, warnings
03:02already issued and likely to see updates over the coming days too, so make sure you keep
03:06an eye on our app and also our website. Bye for now.
