20 April - National weather forecast presented by Greg Dewhurst.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good morning, welcome to your latest Met Office forecast.
00:04It's been a changeable mixed Easter weekend so far.
00:08The day ahead is looking dry and brighter as we're in between weather systems though through Easter Monday and then into next week it is looking rather changeable still.
00:17Further low pressure systems bringing showers and longer spells of rain across the country.
00:21Some stronger winds at times too.
00:23But this morning a fairly chilly start, some early frost in one or two spots but this quickly clearing.
00:29Got low cloud down the eastern side of England and Scotland.
00:32Again this should clear and then the rest of the day looks dry and bright.
00:36Plenty of sunny spells.
00:37However, we do have thicker clouds still across parts of Northern Ireland, northwest Scotland where a few splashes of rain are possible.
00:44Perhaps some longer spells of heavier rain across western parts of Northern Ireland.
00:48But eastern Scotland, northern England, down into parts of the Midlands, Wales and the west country, generally sunny skies.
00:56Though eastern coast still at risk of some low cloud.
00:59Some cloud will also spill up from the south through the day.
01:02It could be thick enough for one or two showers but it will be bright here too.
01:06And in the sunshine, temperatures lifting towards the mid-teens.
01:10Northwest England likely to see the highest temperatures around 17 degrees.
01:13Cool along the eastern coast.
01:15A bit of a northeasterly breeze here and some low cloud could keep temperatures around 9 or 10 Celsius at best.
01:22And rather cool under the cloud across northwestern parts of the UK as well.
01:26Into the evening time, still one or two showers across central southern parts of England.
01:31This system just moves a little further northwards, bringing some cloud and patchy rain into Wales during the early hours.
01:38A weather front moves in from the Atlantic as well to give further rain across Northern Ireland, bumping into western parts of Wales and the southwest too.
01:46Elsewhere, generally cloudy skies and that will stop temperatures from falling too low overnight.
01:51Generally 5 to 10 Celsius, the lowest temperatures across the glens of Scotland.
01:57But here are some sunny spells to start.
01:59Easter Monday for most, a grey damp start to the day.
02:02This weather front will only then slowly push north eastwards across the country as we move through the day.
02:08Starting to break up more into showers across parts of the middle and south east England.
02:11One or two of these could be heavy at times.
02:13Brighter skies following from the west.
02:16Northern Ireland, Wales, the west country seeing some sunny spells but also the risk of some heavy showers too.
02:22The driest weather likely across northeast Scotland up into Orkney there where we could see some sunny spells until the rain arrives later on in the day.
02:31And temperatures a little lower under the cloud but still in any brighter break, 16, 17, possibly 18 Celsius possible across parts of central southern England.
02:42Still a little bit cooler along some northeast coasts where the breeze does remain light but just comes in off the North Sea there.
