A man believed to be 18 years old has been shot dead during a fight in a carpark in Newcastle in the New South Wales Hunter Region.

00:10Bar Beach late last night. Emergency services were called to the car park just before midnight
00:16to reports a person had been shot and when they arrived found the man with a gunshot wound.
00:21Paramedics did treat him at the scene however he did die at the scene last night and while details
00:26as to exactly what happened here are still quite light on. Police say they believe a group of people
00:33were fighting in the car park when a man in a white SUV drove up to the group. The man got out of the
00:40car he was armed with a firearm allegedly took a shot and then got back in the car and fled the
00:45scene. Now a crime scene has been established as you can see there's police tape cordoned off parts
00:51of Memorial Drive here in Newcastle which is normally a very busy street here in Newcastle.
00:57Earlier investigators and forensics were scouring this scene just for any evidence and to try and
01:02put the pieces together as to exactly what happened here and locals waking up this morning coming for
01:07their morning walk and coffee down at the beach very shocked to find this this crime scene here

01:32is a family friendly environment and uh it's just a suburban beach area. So locals still just trying to
01:39figure out exactly what happened here in Newcastle awaiting to hear more details from police at this
01:43stage no arrests or charge have been made however police say they are still investigating.
