00:00Hale storm I prevail and can you see me in the dark 105.5 WDHA Lizzy Hale is
00:22here everybody come on thank you so much for having me the amazing queen the
00:28Gibson ambassador the Grammy winner I mean yes I call the escalator she's the
00:35escalator and I've said this to you yes I'm the escalator for women in rock and
00:39roll there's no doubt because when Lizzy came in everybody got on that escalator
00:43and we were able to take a ride see you know what and and there's such a like
00:46hidden metaphor in that because an escalator can only become stairs so you
00:51know I'm just a lifer I'm gonna hang out here I might you know I love it until it
00:56gets like not cute anymore you know you guys have to drag me off the stage but
00:59it's so great to be here with you it is great to see you again we did this two
01:02years ago yes we can we probably did it 15 years ago and every year I think it
01:09just gets better because you get bigger and you're headlining tonight at PNC and
01:14this is kind of the hail prevail there's so many names like I prevail storm hail
01:21prevail you know we all know about high prevail I love it and so much camaraderie
01:27on this tour it's because I started watching you know some of the insta
01:31videos and stuff when the tour started which was just a week or two ago like
01:35not that long ago and it just seems like you guys are having a blast I mean
01:39they're really I mean everyone is so sweet and and I you know whatever I can
01:43say that I'm the girl on the tour but every you know all these men are so like a
01:48wonderful and everybody's got their little thing nobody is afraid to you
01:53know show off their weird thing like we've been kind of counting that down
01:57like we got a guy that you know oh he watches the dog show somebody's into
02:00baseball that's amazing their own silver you know we have a driver that like you
02:04know carries around a little you know a unicorn lunchbox it's it's great you
02:08know it's like everybody is we're all at a place like the crew everybody where
02:13we're all just in this rolling circus and some of us are high flying trapeze
02:18artists and some people stick their heads in lions but the show is the
02:21important thing so and I look at both bands you know and I look at millions of
02:25streams and billions of streams for you know some of the people that are
02:28streaming your music and I look at the fact that both bands have been Grammy
02:32nominated and you guys are Grammy winners and I don't sometimes think
02:36people realize you know the strides that have been made in rock and roll and
02:41whenever you know you hear a comment like oh you know rocking is dead and I'm
02:45like what are these people talking about you just have to say there's a lot to
02:48sift through but these things do happen and with us I mean we've been extremely
02:53inspired by I prevail over the years it got to the point where like every time
02:57we'd hear something on the radio be like oh that's really cool that's I prevail
03:00again and so we've been wanting to tour together and yeah from the first day
03:03everybody we trauma bonded over other tours that haven't gone so well on either
03:08camp and then we like we're just yeah we've been doing the the song we've been
03:13doing actually two different versions of can you see me in the dark from night
03:18tonight so it went up when I prevail is headlining I go up and I sing with them
03:23and then we have Eric come out for for our version so it's been just so much fun the
03:27fans have been amazing something that's kind of a first for me that I'm seeing as
03:33as more of a thing at our shows is the tri-generation thing that's happening now
03:39it's like is this a new experience for you starting to see that now yeah and for
03:44me it's a rite of passage we have a lot of people that are grown that had you
03:48know gotten into us when they were in middle school but now they're they're
03:51older and they have daughters that they're bringing to the show funny that
03:54you would say that I'm gonna read an Instagram message from somebody who sent me
03:58something today that's really funny that you would say that let me find Terry so
04:03well she says the whole family is going my girls and I haven't been to a show
04:07together since Mia was sick she is 20 now that is one that is an Instagram
04:12message from one of our listeners who was listening to and she put you know put
04:15it on her story so so Terry if you're on your way yes Lizzie saying Lizzie saying
04:20hi but yeah that's exactly what you're talking about but but see that's the beauty
04:23of it is that like it doesn't matter what age you are when this you know when
04:29music hits you in a certain way I mean it's it's the meet-and-greets have been
04:33so amazing we've had we've had to incorporate tissues into our meet-and-greets
04:36now because we get a lot of criers and always happy tears but it's it's just it
04:41blows my mind you know kind of like what we were talking about off air here that my
04:46brother and I started Hailstone when I was 13 and he was 10 you know and it was
04:51laughable for a long period of time in a lot of ways really is still laughable you
04:55know we have a lot of fun doing what we do but the fact that these silly songs
05:00that we write and these these things that we do on stage and this kind of
05:04gathering of the masses that we kind of put on the fact that people can be
05:09affected by those things and and you know maybe a bit get faced with the
05:14decision to better their life or maybe make a big decision you know to all of a
05:20sudden have a new career or something happens and this gets you through that's
05:24the power of music but just to be a part of it is so awesome hey guys that's not
05:27me that's not us you know we're just happy to be no you guys you guys make the
05:32connection I think connecting with the fans is what is the thing and and you
05:35guys do that I mean there's no doubt about it I'm not surprised that you get
05:39some tears at the meeting oh yeah and then I end up crying it's great you know we
05:42just have a big cry had that amazing connection you've never been afraid to talk
05:46about struggles mental health like you've been a very open artist people
05:50connect with that and I think it makes it totally makes a difference you talk to
05:54me about the Lizzy birds your your fan base of people that follow you around and
05:58they definitely have an impact on your life as you've had an impact on their life
06:02oh absolutely we share the weight you know when one of us you know can't carry
06:06it all on your own okay I'm strong enough now okay I'm not strong enough you
06:10help carry me and that's that's that's what it's all about and that's
06:13literally what we say by living to tell the tale because we are telling the
06:16tale and we're still here you know and we got some battle scars whatever but
06:21we've yet but we're here and and the fact that we're able to have that
06:25connection every single night is just so beautiful so we've been having a lot of
06:28grateful moments being here at PNC by the way you know where you are you're in
06:32skid row country oh yeah you are in skid row country baby you're like within 20
06:37mile radius and probably all of the guys I was like saying to I'm hoping like that
06:42snake makes a pilgrimage down he's in Long Island now he's not Jersey anymore
06:46but that's right we've heard from a few people there may be some guest you know
06:54sightings that might be tonight I was just thinking that I'm like oh my god
06:58she's in Jersey well Jersey has claimed you there are certain artists we claim
07:01as our own even though you're not from here and we have claimed you guys so
07:05that's the thing is that I can credit I mean and speaking of the skid row stuff I
07:08can credit all of my Jersey friends for introducing me to skid row when I was a
07:13kid for raising me on the music that ended up being my vehicle to where I am
07:19today and it's like there's been so many of those full circle moments over the
07:23past couple years and I mean especially you know post-COVID when we're all like
07:27dude hang on to every single moment you know and live in it don't forget to
07:32breathe you know and I don't know it's just it's it's been amazing and that whole
07:38experience was so incredibly soul-filling for me I love for them too
07:43is and for them too they love you they love you they let you take over their
07:47band and they adore you blows my mind yeah like like it was like the after
07:51effect like I can't believe they let me do that yeah but we had a great time and I
07:56told him like you know put up the bat signal whatever my equivalent of the
08:00glizzy maybe it's a hot dog glizzy hail you know put the hot dog up in the sky and
08:05and we'll see if we can make it happen I love that much fun and and introducing
08:09them of course to a whole generation so before I let you go because I know you're
08:12on a tight schedule I just wanted to ask you quickly about can you see me in the
08:15dark yes a lot of writers on this song you guys all kind of collabed on it
08:19together and I think that's why it works so well none of the aspects of the
08:23bands get lost oh that's awesome it's great to hear that because it we yeah it
08:28was it was kind of a mess putting it together because so many you know cooks in
08:31the kitchen but everybody did their part and and even even things that aren't
08:35necessarily like what people know are in their wheelhouse like the first draft of
08:40all of the lyrics was RJ and I you know that we were like in my closet with like
08:44a little rig you know because we didn't we were getting some construction done so
08:47my big rig wasn't down and we were getting those things together we wrote
08:50literally like three songs to a bunch of music and then we all traded ideas and if
08:57you can like just the lyrical paper trail you know just to get to to where we are
09:03today it was was amazing and maniacal and we really got to get to know each
09:07other yeah this process yeah and then we got it done and and then we we it was
09:12like right up to the last minute we got it done we released it and then we were
09:15like is it any good I don't even know you know and and the beautiful thing is
09:20that we were already out on tour you know performing it before we got to really see
09:23the fan reaction it's just been amazing and it's an amazing song I mean it's
09:28like is it like heading top 10 like yeah it's it's it's getting it's getting
09:32close you know it's climbing I keep hearing from my my little you know
09:35masters of whispers yeah you know on tour just like what's happening in the
09:40world I don't know I've been in a bubble but but yeah no it's it's amazing and
09:44we're doing two different versions on this tour so whoever's headlining gets to
09:48kind of host it yeah that's and which is awesome because they're two totally
09:51different beasts and it's it's beautiful to be a part of that with
09:54these guys I love it and I love you thank you so much for doing this on show
09:57day you're always make the pilgrimage out to us and just so happy to see you
10:02and you look amazing and we're so excited to have you as our headliner

10:09surprises there has been some last-minute changes are you mad are you like
10:14what are you thinking like I'm excited about this I just know I want to know if do I
10:17need happy tissues or sad tissues oh well maybe both I think there's gonna be
10:21happy tissues first and they're gonna be sad that the happiness like is only one
10:25night wow I think it's gonna be a historic night tickets by the way still
10:29available you know and I always tell any ways to use those tissues I'll pick up
10:32some napkins at Wawa often a night like this those are the best great to sit on
