00:00Well, look who I got backstage hanging with me. Scotty McCreary, how are you?
00:04What's up? I'm doing good. How are you?
00:05Good. How are you loving this weather here that we have in Tampa?
00:08Pretty nice to me. Yeah, it's pretty chilly back home right now, so this is a nice break.
00:12Yeah, I can imagine. Did you do anything fun today while you were in St. Pete waiting for the show to start it all?
00:18Yeah, just got out, walked around a little bit, enjoyed the weather, got a little bite to eat, maybe some cold snacks, so we had a good time.
00:24So, what are we doing after this? Is your tours, is it winding down?
00:28You get to go home and spend some time with your family?
00:31Yeah, we're still going. You know, we've kind of always gone second week of January through the second week of December and go, go, go.
00:37Really?
00:37We're still chugging along and having a good time on the road, and then we'll get like a month off for family time and Christmas and all that good stuff.
00:44Okay, so how's the family doing? Everybody doing good?
00:46They're good, yeah. Our little boy Avery just turned one. We had a Toy Story party. I was Woody.
00:51He was just a little cowboy kind of thing. Gabi was Jesse. We had a really, really fun time.
00:55Okay, and how is Moose adjusting to not having all the attention at home?
01:01You know, he's doing okay with it, yeah. You can sense a little jealousy every now and then, but he's really a great big brother to Avery.
01:07He's always very patient when Avery's kind of being a little annoying, just gives a bunch of kisses, so yeah.
01:14I bet. Well, you know, I got to say, you know, I just, I love your music. You have, you've, how old are you now?
01:2130.
01:21You're 30 now. Well, happy birthday, 30. You have these great songs that, I mean, like, how does a 30-year-old know how to write this music?
01:31Like, what relationships, where are you learning all this stuff? Because you and Gabi, you've been like together for a long time, right?
01:37Yeah, we've been together a long, long time, since 2011, 2012. But, I mean, that's not to say I haven't had the heartbreak before.
01:45You know, I was young, but, you know, breakups and things to go through that I can pull from, and honestly, I got started so young at 16, 17.
01:52The first songs I wrote that I was putting out might not have been so great, but I feel like I've grown a little bit, learned how I want to say things, what I want to say, and I'm really enjoying kind of where we're at right now musically.
02:03Yeah, you've got some great lyrics and some great messages in a lot of your songs. I know people can really relate to them, and they grasp onto them coming, you know, from a guy, you know, when you were, you know, just on American Idol, and here you are, just number one after number one.
02:17And now you've got Cab and a solo out there that we are just loving. I can't wait to hear some more music from you tonight.
02:23Yeah, we're excited about it. Always a good time in these shows. I love telling the stories behind songs and all that, so these are like my favorite shows of the year.
02:29And what are your big plans for Christmas then? Are you guys going to go back to North Carolina?
02:33Yeah, we're going to the mountains in North Carolina, so we're going to hang out and just cross our fingers for some snow and just kind of kick back, you know, and relax a little bit and reflect on the year and look forward to next year and all that good stuff.
02:45Well, best of luck to you in the next year, and thanks again so much for coming and doing this show. The show sold out in one day, and I know you have a lot to do with that.
02:54Oh, my goodness. Well, we'll give you a good show. Let's have some fun.
02:58Scotty McCreery, everybody.
