00:00Here we are, we're doing quick sports from east side, Dave, as we get ready for the money shot code word about 15 minutes away.
00:05Dave, sports, what do we got?
00:07Okay, well, we're going to start with some football, where the Chicago Bears played the Washington Commanders last night, Thursday night football, and the Bears destroyed Washington 40-20.
00:19This after somebody on the show yesterday said I should put all my money on Washington.
00:24Put it all on the Bears, oh yeah, on Washington, right?
00:28That goes my whole life savings.
00:31All $18 are gone from the Gotts Bank account.
00:36What happened? The Bears actually scored a bunch of points, huh?
00:38Justin Fields threw for 282 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions.
00:42They look good.
00:43I mean, people were suspecting that the Bears are trying to tank, as everyone wants Caleb Williams out of USC, who is projected to be a walk.
00:52People were saying that yesterday.
00:53Yeah, even me, even me, I'll be honest.
00:55The Bears improved to 1-4, Washington drops to 2-3.
01:00We are going to stay with the Bears for a second, as legendary Chicago linebacker Dick Butkus has died at the age of 80.
01:07Oh, no way, really?
01:08Legendary player, of course.
01:10That dude.
01:11Someone just still got up from one of his hits.
01:14When I was a kid, I would watch the NFL bloopers and hardest hits type tapes that you could actually rent at your local video store.
01:24It was all over that, right?
01:25And Mike Dick played like a WWE guy.
01:29Like, it was like clotheslines and body slams.
01:33He wanted you to match.
01:34If you got hit by him, you felt it for months.
01:38Literally, like, 90% of, I mean, I shouldn't say, not Mike, Dick Butkus, literally, like, 90% of Dick Butkus' tackles would be outlawed in today's game.
01:49Right, right, right.
01:50That dude was badass.
01:52But it was a different game.
01:53In 65 to 1973, he played with the Bears.
01:55He earned eight Pro Bowl selections, five first-team All-Pro selections, and, of course, the Hall of Fame in 1979, first ballot Hall of Famer.
02:04So, Dick Butkus passed away at the age of 80 years old.
02:07And then everything they did on SNL with the Bears and that whole regime.
02:12Yeah, Butkus and Ditka.
02:14That's why, between Mike Ditka and Dick Butkus, there's some weird names there.
02:21You had to be tough if your name was Dick Butkus.
02:26He was the toughest SOB in football for, you know, a decade.
02:30And, by the way, he was from Chicago.
02:32I looked it up.
02:33Wow.
02:34This Sunday, so, RIP to Dick Butkus.
02:37This Sunday, Giants take on the Dolphins in Miami, 1 o'clock.
02:41Uh-oh.
02:42Giants, yeah, they're 1-3.
02:43Miami's 3-1.
02:45You might be getting a new quarterback at the end of the year.
02:47Giants and Bills are the next two, I mean, Dolphins and Bills are the next two matchups for the Giants.
02:52And if they don't win both games, that's 1-5 is what they're looking at.
02:58Things don't look good there.
02:59Now, 4 p.m., the Eagles go against the Rams.
03:01Philly's still undefeated.
03:03Yeah.
03:03L.A.'s 2-2.
03:04And then at 4-25, the Jets play the Broncos in Denver.
03:09Both teams come into the game at 1-3.
03:11Obviously, some bad blood.
03:12Jets are already talking about wanting to get revenge after Broncos head coach, now head coach, Sean Payton,
03:22just verbally eviscerated Nathaniel Hackett, who is the Jets offensive coordinator.
03:30But last year, he coached the Broncos, and Sean Payton said he did the worst job, the worst head coaching job in NFL history.
03:41Payback time, bitch.
03:43The Jets are looking at payback time.
03:44And how is it that I have gone from calling for Zach Wilson to go park cars?
03:50I think for the Red Bulls, not even the Jets, for the Red Bulls, to now picking him to win on Sunday.
03:57Well, yeah.
03:58How does that happen?
03:59I don't know.
04:00I'm an idiot.
04:01I think if he wins, then Jets fans have to be okay with Zach Wilson just for a little bit.
04:08Yeah, no, absolutely.
04:08But if he doesn't win, if he doesn't beat the Broncos, who have really sucked this year,
04:15then, again, that is going to be a question of why are we sticking with Zach Wilson?
04:19Because the Broncos are bad.
04:20I hear you.
04:20Jets need to win this game.
04:22Yeah.
04:22They should win it.
04:23They should win it.
04:24Their defense should easily solve Russell Wilson.
04:28Who just does not look like the same player that he was on the Seahawks.
04:31And maybe it's a defensive win.
04:33Maybe it's a couple of pick sixes or some forced fumbles.
04:36Ten to three.
04:37That's what you want.
04:39Baseball.
04:40Saturday MLB postseason resumes with four divisional matchups.
04:45One o'clock.
04:46Orioles play the Rangers in Baltimore.
04:49445.
04:50Astros matchup against the Twins in Houston.
04:536 p.m.
04:54We like this one locally, I guess.
04:56Phillies take on the Braves in Atlanta.
04:58And then 920.
04:59The Diamondbacks play the Dodgers in L.A.
05:01Basketball.
05:02Joel Embiid said yesterday that he is happy that James Harden's back on the team.
05:07He says Harden has not been a distraction.
05:10Embiid says he wants to focus on winning a championship.
05:13But if Harden does become a distraction, what will Embiid think?
05:18I'm hoping he'll think I got to leave Philly and come to New York and win a championship with the Knicks and Jalen Brunson.
05:24So that's what I'm hoping.
05:25You are really dreaming, aren't you?
05:25I am.
05:26I have all my hopes in a fantasy scenario where Joel Embiid becomes disgruntled as a Philadelphia 76er, demands to be traded.
05:3620-something other teams on the planet and he's going to come straight to New York.
05:38Well, I have a fantasy in my head that this is possible.
05:42And the Amtrak goes right under the guard.
05:44And then hockey players and teams are allowed to celebrate and support specialty causes, according to the NHL.
05:52They passed a new rule that said that players don't have to wear anything that celebrates a cause.
05:59But if they do, they are allowed to celebrate a cause as long as it falls within each team's respective dress code.
06:09So there you go.
06:10Because there were some issues last year.
06:11Certain causes or this or that were, you know, trying to be like stuff.
06:16Yeah, with the NHL and then some certain players, especially Eastern European players, were like, I don't, you know, I don't want to.
06:22I remember back in the day, the only thing Scott Stevens, the great Scott Stevens of the New Jersey Devils wanted to wear was the opponent's blood on his shoulder pad.
06:32What a player.
06:33I miss him.
06:34And that is your quick look at sports.
06:37The money shot code where it comes up.
