00:00Now, David, with that sort of lead-up, here you are with Quick Sports.
00:02Well, it's a fantastic lead-up for a fantastic college championship game last night.
00:07If you were a Georgia Bulldogs fan, holy cow, it was a historic beatdown.
00:14Georgia destroyed TCU in the championship 65-7.
00:20What, they got no mercy rule there?
00:22Oh, my goodness, no, they don't.
00:2465-7.
00:25They were even, listen, they took out the starting QB, the starting running backs,
00:30starting receivers, and a bunch of the starting offensive line when they had like 48, 49 points.
00:36Wow.
00:36They put in all their scrubs, and even their scrubs, and they stopped throwing the ball.
00:42They got the freshmen in.
00:43And their freshmen running backs were even running all over TCU.
00:47At that point, it's like, you're not even trying to run up the score.
00:50You're literally just handing the ball off.
00:51But Georgia was so much better.
00:54They were in such a higher class.
00:57I hate to say it, but now some of the college pundits are all, you know, anti the Cinderella story
01:03because the championship game was such a blowout that they're all like, you know,
01:08did TCU even deserve to be there?
01:10I do remind them that they beat Michigan in the semifinal, so I think they deserve to be there.
01:15But this Georgia team is going to go down in history as one of the greatest.
01:20They are just the fourth team since 1990 to win back-to-back championships.
01:26They do so this year with a record of 15-0.
01:30They were 14-1 last year.
01:32They back it up with a 15-0 season this year.
01:35Quarterback Stetson Bennett, an amazing game where he threw for four touchdowns,
01:40ran for two touchdowns, and then pretty much sat the entire fourth quarter because the game was over.
01:46The guy was lights out.
01:48It was an unbelievable season for Georgia.
01:51Great season for TCU, but their Cinderella story ended last night.
01:55Congrats to Georgia on a remarkable year in college football.
01:59They are your champions.
02:00Now over to the NFL where we've got some more good news regarding Bill's safety, DeMar Hamlin.
02:07Hamlin was released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center yesterday.
02:11He's on his way back to Buffalo.
02:14He will have to go to the hospital there, but it's less intensive.
02:18It's not the ICU.
02:20They're saying, the doctors are saying, quote, miraculous recovery.
02:25Well, that's awesome news, man, for a guy who literally, I mean, lost his life on the field and had to be revived.
02:32That's incredible.
02:33Cardiac arrest last week, and it was insane that he has recovered this quickly.
02:39The news was shared with his teammates who said they were inspired by the update.
02:45So absolutely amazing story with DeMar Hamlin.
02:48And on a football note, I mean, the Buffalo Bills, they might be the team of destiny.
02:53I mean, the first play, they run back for a touchdown.
02:56My God.
02:57And then they ran it back again.
02:58Yeah.
02:58And then later in the game, the same dude ran it back again.
03:01It was like unbelievable.
03:03Basketball, the Knicks lost to the Bucs last night, despite 44 points from point guard Jalen Brunson.
03:10Final score, Bucs 111, Knicks 107.
03:13They just can't get past Milwaukee.
03:15It's something they need to do to join that elite group of teams in the East.
03:19Giannis Antetokounmpo had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks in the game.
03:24The Nets and 76ers were inactive.
03:26Hockey, the Flyers shut out the Sabres.
03:28Four to nothing, Philly goalie Samuel Erson had 28 saves to pick up the shutout win.
03:33Joel Farabee had a goal and an assist.
03:36The Devils and Rangers were off.
03:38And lastly, baseball.
03:39What does being a Yankee captain have in store for Aaron Judge?
03:42Well, Ron Guidry, who was Yankee captain from 86 to 89, says Judge will now have to deal with annoying things like teammates complaining about airplane food.
03:51Airplane food.
03:51That's what happened to him in the late 80s.
03:54Apparently, at one point, there was a players' meeting that had to be held, and they all had to go up to Ron Guidry, the captain of the time, and they said,
04:03the reason why we're asking you for this meeting is the airplane food is crappy.
04:09They were complaining about the peel-back meals.
04:12They went there to get first-class meals on the Yankee charter plane.
04:15I don't know.
04:16So Guidry had to go to the boss.
04:18Oh, my God.
04:19George Steinbrenner.
04:20He went to Steinbrenner himself and complained.
04:22Steinbrenner said, do we have a problem?
04:25By the way, Steinbrenner sounds like Tony Soprano in this story.
04:28No kidding.
04:29Apparently, Steinbrenner says, do we have a problem?
04:31And Ron Guidry said, no, we don't have a problem.
04:33They have a problem with your food on the airplane.
04:36Can you get something better?
04:37So he says that's the type of stuff that people don't see that Judge will actually be dealing with.
04:42That's funny.
04:43Anytime some little tiny nonsensical thing happens, you go to the captain and be like, you know, I'm out of white socks, captain.
04:51You know, this two-ply toilet paper ain't quite good enough.
04:55Can we get some Charmin in the team clubhouse, please?
04:58You know, where's the soda machine, captain?
05:01Right, right.
05:02You know, I want a Pepsi in the house.
05:05That's right.
05:05I didn't realize that, you know, I just thought, you know, you kind of were the captain in the dugout.
05:12Like, hey, guys, let's go get him.
05:13You bring a player in from Japan, you better have some damn good sushi for that player.
05:17I mean, yeah, this is actually pretty fun.
05:19I actually want to know more of this behind-the-scenes type of stuff of what the captain does,
05:24because I thought it was just like, you know, cue Larry David and his Seinfeld-era Steinbrenner impression.
05:33Exactly.
05:33Airplane food.
05:34Right.
05:35And that is your quick look at sports.
