00:12Hi, we have Amanda on the phone for First Responder Friday, and she's honoring her friend Mike this morning.
00:16Good morning, Amanda. How are you doing?
00:18I'm great. How are you?
00:19We are doing great. We are excited to learn about Mike. Tell us about Mike and how he serves our community.
00:24So Mike is a captain with Tampa Fire Rescue.
00:27Okay.
00:28He is down at Station 19, which also has a boat, which is kind of cool.
00:34So he's out on the water helping save people on the water, too, not just on land.
00:39He's been doing this for 19 years?
00:4119 years, yeah.
00:42Wow. Very cool. How did you guys become friends?
00:45We're neighbors.
00:46Very nice.
00:47So hang out a lot, let the kids play.
00:49We all, you know, usually sit outside and watch the kids play and just have gotten a good friendship from that.
00:56It's probably nice having a neighbor like Mike because, you know, you kind of feel a little bit safe with him around.
01:03And if you ever need anything, you know, he's a good person to ask for that kind of stuff.
01:06Totally, totally. And his wife, up until very recently, was a pediatric ER nurse at St. Joe's Children's.
01:13Oh, wow.
01:14That's even better.
01:16That's great.
01:16Well, I'm glad that you hear about his wife being a first responder as well.
01:20Yeah.
01:20Tell us about Mike, and you can tell us about Mike and his wife as well, but just tell us about them as people.
01:25Just good, great people, always willing to help anybody.
01:30You know, we do dinners together, the kids play together, always willing to do anything for a friend, both of them.
01:38Just really great people to have as friends, neighbors, and as part of our Tampa Bay community, helping out with their job.
01:47And I suppose Mike's that kind of guy that doesn't want any praise for anything that he does.
01:51Oh, no.
01:52It's just my job.
01:53He's like, I just do my job, and that's it.
01:56But, you know, it's nice to recognize those people that do do their job day in, day out for 19 years, helping our community thrive the way that Tampa is.
02:05Absolutely.
02:06Well, we are so thankful for Mike, and we're so thankful for you, Amanda, reaching out and telling us about Mike and his wife as well.
