WWJ's Tim Pamplin reports a pair of Detroit firefighters were honored Monday on National First Responders Day for saving the life of a young boy who was trapped in a house fire on the city’s northeast side last winter.

00:00We're outside Ladder 18's quarters today. This is Seven Mile and John R Road.
00:06There's a special guest of honour. There he is, little JV on and his mum Jasmine,
00:10one-year-old little boy rescued from a fire.
00:12This story all started back here in January. This house boarded up. It was where they lived
00:17with some friends. Jasmine's friend and her children lived in here and the fire broke out.
00:23And when they called me, I came rushing back to the house.
00:30Yeah, it was a horrible sight. Fire and smoke coming out of the windows.
00:37Today, Lieutenant Howard and Firefighter Winter, there you see in the background,
00:41meeting JV on for the first time after that encounter that January morning.

01:02Today is National First Responders Day. I think it's quite fitting that we have this
01:07story on this day and Jasmine just wanted to let these two firefighters know how much they mean to
01:13her. I'm just so thankful that they saved my baby.
