00:00We know the hard work and sacrifice they go through serving our community and keeping us safe.
00:06Let's honor another First Responder on 99.5 QYK.
00:11I've got Patricia on the phone today for First Responder Friday.
00:14She's honoring her mom.
00:15Good morning, Patricia.
00:16How are you?
00:17Great.
00:18How are you doing?
00:18We're doing great.
00:19So your mother's name is Margaret, right?
00:21Yes.
00:22All right.
00:22Well, tell us about Margaret.
00:23What does she do as a First Responder?
00:25She is an RN, and she's been doing it almost 40 years.
00:30It will be 40 years this year.
00:32Wow.
00:33Wow.
00:34Yeah.
00:34So she's been everywhere from pediatrics to home health.
00:38She did trauma ICU and CVICU.
00:43Did the whole COVID pandemic and took care of a bunch of patients during that.
00:49So she's done a lot.
00:50Yeah, absolutely.
00:51So your mom being a nurse growing up, is this something that inspired you to be a nurse
00:55too?
00:56I'm actually a nurse because of her.
00:57There you go.
00:58Oh, I love this.
00:59We get to honor you too then.
01:01Yeah.
01:03So, you know, obviously she's helping people every day.
01:06She's around people every day.
01:07What is something that you have learned from your mom that you've applied to yourself as
01:12far as being an RN?
01:14Always having compassion for people.
01:16Okay.
01:17Never judging them just because of how they look.
01:19I love that.
01:20Yeah.
01:20It takes a very special person to, you know, do what you guys do on a daily basis and to
01:27have that compassion for somebody who is, you know, going through such a traumatic experience,
01:32whether it's, you know, in the ICU or whatever.
01:34I mean, you have to have that compassion for complete strangers.
01:37And I love that.
01:39Yes, you have to.
01:40And you have to be able to deal with a lot and handle a lot when you're seeing people
01:45that might not make it.
01:46Well, Patricia, again, we want to say thank you for you being a first responder as well.
01:52But I think it's so cool that you're honoring your mother, Margaret.
01:55Tell us something that you guys like to do when you guys aren't working.
01:58We hang out with my kids.
02:00You hang out with your kids?
02:01Yeah, I have one five and seven-year-old girls and she loves hanging out with grandkids.
02:06Oh, wow.
02:07You're busy.
02:08Yes.
02:08And all girls.
02:11All girls.
02:11Oh, bless you.
02:14Do you think we got some more nurses in the family?
02:17I don't know.
02:18I've got one that wants to be a teacher and one who loves to follow what mommy does.
02:22So, you know, could be.
02:23There you go.
02:24Could be a fourth generation.
02:26I love it.
02:26Well, listen, here's what we want to do.
02:27We want to give you $200 in Visa gift cards to give to your mother.
02:31This is thanks to our friends at Crown Buick GMC and Demesman and Dover Law Firm.
02:35Just a small way for us to say thank you to both of you, actually.
02:39For what you guys do for our community.
02:41Thank you so much.
02:42I appreciate that.
02:43You can have, like, a mother-daughter night or, you know, maybe a nice dinner.
02:46Mother-daughter grandkids night.
02:48Or go get some pedicures or something.
02:50Yeah.
02:50Yeah, whatever.
02:50That'd be awesome.
02:51But spoil your mom for us, okay?
02:53Awesome.
02:54Thank you so much.
02:55You got it.
