Lakeland RN Honored By Her Mother

00:06Let's honor another first responder on 99.5 QYK.

00:12All right, we have Lindsay on the phone today who is recognizing her daughter, McKenzie, for First Responder Friday.

00:16Good morning, Lindsay. How are you doing?

00:18Good morning. How are you?

00:19I'm doing great. So tell me about McKenzie. How does she serve as a first responder?

00:24Well, she just graduated Wednesday, and also she works at Lakeland Regional Emergency Room.

00:30She just graduated as a registered nurse.

00:33It's always been her calling.

00:34That's just always something she wanted to do from the first occurrence back when she was in high school

00:39because she had asthma attacks and that she wanted to change lives.

00:42And a nurse is the first one that a patient sees practically that's with them the whole time.

00:48Well, this is great. And so where did she graduate from?

00:51Polk State College.

00:52And this just happened Wednesday. We've got to give it up.

00:55Class of 23. I love that.

00:58Yes.

00:58So you said, you know, back in high school, she knew she wanted to do this, huh?

01:02Yes. She just said, Mom, you know what? That's my call.

01:05And one day I'm going to become a nurse because I'm going to understand the terminology,

01:09and I'm going to change lives.

01:11And she's excelling at Lakeland Regional.

01:14And she couldn't be in a better spot as of today, I would say.

01:17I thank the God above.

01:19Well, that's fantastic. I love hearing that, Lindsay.

01:21And I love that she's following her calling.
