00:00We know the hard work and sacrifice they go through serving our community and keeping us safe.
00:06Let's honor another first responder on 99.5 QYK.
00:12All right, so we got Allison on the phone. She is honoring her boyfriend today. His name is Riley.
00:16Good morning, Allison. How are you doing?
00:18I'm doing good. How are you guys?
00:19I'm doing great. So tell us about Riley. How does he serve our community?
00:21It looks like he's in Palm Harbor. What does he do?
00:24Yeah, so he's a firefighter medic for about three years now.
00:28He went to school for a fire academy and then went to a medic school and found his way up here to Palm Harbor.
00:36And each and every day, he serves our community in a special way, spending lots of hours at work.
00:43I guess a little time at home, and sometimes those hours can be rough, but trying to help those people out there that need it.
00:49Well, that's exactly why we want to honor him today. So how did you guys meet?
00:53We actually met at a country concert.
00:55Well done. Let's give it up.
00:56Oh, the concert!
00:56So people, you know, this is great. You're a great testimonial, Allison, because some people go, I don't know about country, I don't like it.
01:02And any guy that tells me that, I go, just go to one, and you'll see why it's a good place for you to be if you're a single guy.
01:07Absolutely. Who, what was the concert?
01:09It was a Brad Paisley concert about a year ago now.
01:12Oh, I love it.
01:14Yeah.
01:15What do you do for a living, Allison?
01:17I'm actually a dolphin trainer here at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
01:20Who are you talking about?
01:21Oh, my gosh. That's so awesome.
01:23Geez.
01:24Sorry, Riley, but we're talking about the Dolphins now.
01:27What a great job you have.
01:29Yes. And now we have your phone number so we can call you.
01:33Yeah. I'll get you tickets anytime.
01:36All right. Very cool. Well, let's get back to Riley.
01:38You know, you talk about first responders and how they work these long hours and, you know, their dedication to their jobs and the community.
01:44What do you think motivates him every single day to go take on these long hours and serve our community when sometimes it could be a thankless job?
01:51I think just like his heart and how he cares for people a lot.
01:56And he has a lot of care for me as well.
01:58And he puts that towards his job and he puts them first, which is really inspiring.
02:03And just spending that time and that much time trying to help people.
02:06You know, it's just amazing what these men and women go through on a daily basis.
02:10You know, then they come home and, you know, everything's just normal.
02:13Meanwhile, you and I, we probably wouldn't be able to process half that stuff that they go through.
02:17I mean, you know, you just hear the stories and how their day went and the little sleep that they got in the past 24 hours.
02:25And they'll still be like, hey, I'm going to mow the grass or, hey, I'm going to run to the grocery store for you.
02:29And you're just like, how do you do it?
02:30It's pretty crazy, but he's a trooper.
02:33Do you find it harder to communicate with a dolphin or Riley?
02:38It's debatable.
02:39I bet you, so do you ever bring Riley out to, you know, to your work, maybe to see the dolphins?
02:45Yeah, if it's a fire, for sure, he goes out there.
02:48Well, I was, they would completely calm me if it was, you know, if I was Riley.
02:52Yeah, he loves coming.
02:53He's actually been a couple times and we do the whole encounter and he gets to meet all my work, my work flipper friends.
02:59This is so cool.
03:00I mean, the fact that they are such like a specific jobs.
03:03I know.
03:04But so different at the same time.
03:05Right.
03:06What an interesting dinner conversation you guys always have.
03:10Yeah, we have conversations about, you know, our kids in the future.
03:13Like, hey, what do your parents do?
03:14A dolphin trainer and a firefighter.
03:16Right.
03:17You will be at every career day and show and tell day ever.
03:20Just be ready for that.
03:21Okay.
03:22Yeah, for sure.
03:23Hey, well, listen, Allison, it was great to actually learn about you and to get to learn about Riley and the fact that he is a fire medic in Palm Harbor.
03:30We appreciate so much what he does.
03:31And I'm so glad that you reached out to us.
03:33And thank you, Brad Paisley, for bringing people together.
03:36Absolutely.
03:36And give the dolphins a big hug for us today.
03:39Absolutely.
03:39Oh, I will.
03:40Well, listen, thanks to our friends at Crown Buick GMC.
03:43We want to give you a $100 Visa gift card so you guys can go do something you love.
03:46But we'll also give you another $100 Visa gift card from our friends at DeMesman and Dover.
03:51Small way for us to say thank you to Riley for what he does.
03:54And I don't know what you guys are going to do because I don't know how you top your guys' jobs.
03:57They're going to buy tickets to another country concert with it.
04:00Boom.
04:00Like it.
04:00Yes.
04:01Smart.
04:01All right.
04:03Allison, thanks so much for your time today.
04:04Please tell Riley we are so grateful for him as well.
04:06And we appreciate you coming on.
04:08All right.
04:09Thank you very much.
