00:00What is Digital Media Arts?
00:03At Spexhoward School of Media Arts,
00:05digital media is bringing video to life.
00:07From pre-production to post, it's telling stories.
00:10It's scripting, shooting, and editing.
00:13Creating motion graphics in After Effects.
00:15Editing and color correcting footage in Premiere Pro.
00:18And designing end slates in lower thirds in Photoshop.
00:21Do you have the desire to become a visual storyteller?
00:23Get started now by calling 866-61-SPEX
00:26or by visiting spexhoward.edu.
00:30Oh my god, that meeting was so boring.
00:33The worst.
00:33And they ate all the good pizza again.
00:35I know.
00:36Oh, I have a pizza in our office.
00:38Oh, thank god, because I would punch a n*** right in the t***y
00:41for a slice of pizza right now.
00:42You know what I would do for a piece of pizza?
00:44What?
00:44I'd take my fist.
00:45I'd s***, I'd rip the s***.
00:48Jeez, that's graphic.
00:50Yeah.
00:58Pizza time!
00:59Ha ha!
01:00Woo!
01:06Mortal Kombat!
01:12Christ!
01:14This is supposed to be the punching button, but...
01:18I'm trying to dropkick you in the face, but it won't let me.
01:21Taste these dogs!
01:22I just don't even want to do this anymore.
01:28Is this even a real game?
01:35Sorry, sweetheart.
01:37No balls down there.
01:38Yes.
01:39Yes.
01:40No.
01:41No.
01:42No.
01:43I'm gonna rip your heart right out of your s*** hole.
01:54What the hell?
02:05How did you do that?
02:06No idea.
02:07I thought we were friends.
02:08Nope.
02:19Hey, what's up?
02:20Welcome back to another edition of Two Guys, One Video Game.
02:25Uh, James, James, James, James.
02:26Can't unzip your mouth, man.
02:28No one can understand you.
02:29You can't understand it?
02:29No.
02:30Hey, welcome to another edition of Two Guys, One Video Game with Chuck the Freak and James
02:35from Dave and Chuck the Freak on WRIF.
02:38We reviewed this time Mortal Kombat X or 10.
02:42Is it 10?
02:43Is it 10?
02:43I don't think there's been 10 Mortal Kombat.
02:45No, I think you just put X when you, like, didn't make a video game for 15 years.
02:49Okay.
02:49And then decide, well, we're gonna put it up.
02:51We gotta call it something.
02:52Somehow, there's some other crazy evil overlord in some other realm that has caught wind of
02:57something, so they decided they needed to make another Mortal Kombat game.
03:00What do we do?
03:01We call for the help of...
03:03Johnny Cage.
03:04Johnny Cage.
03:05Johnny Cage.
03:06That would be like calling the situation.
03:10And say, hey, situation, we are in trouble.
03:13Graphically, it's awesome.
03:15Uh, the fatalities, the detail in the fatalities.
03:19Now, if you played a game like, uh, Sniper Elite 3, I feel like they ripped off a lot of,
03:26like, the finale stuff.
03:28But, they're still pretty cool.
03:30Yeah.
03:30Well, the fatalities are fun to see happen.
03:33Um, you know, you have to go and, like, probably look them up, unless you want to spend your
03:37whole time mashing keys and watching your character do this all the time until you got it figured
03:42out.
03:42Well, this is the first Mortal Kombat game I've played in a long time, where you can
03:47tell the difference between Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile.
03:50They no longer look like the same guy in different colored pajamas.
03:54You don't see other Jimmy Deft Nuts walking around with different colored gift masks.
03:58You know, it's a different person.
04:00They have different personalities.
04:01They look different.
04:02And I think they did a much better job with it.
04:04Uh, the fighting style of the game.
04:06Exactly the same as, I guess, the first Mortal Kombat that ever came out, where you had a
04:12stick and you were playing it in an arcade.
04:14Before, I played a version on the PlayStation 2, where it's almost like the world, the whole
04:18environment was, like, three-dimensional.
04:20So you could sidestep and move and really over-complicate the thing.
04:23So I think with this Mortal Kombat X, they took it back to the basics.
04:27They simplified it.
04:28And the fighting is more true to the arcade style.
04:31You know, you move left to right and you jump.
04:33And that's pretty much all you have.
04:34Yeah.
04:34There's a little bit of interaction with some of the stuff in the background, but it's not
04:39major.
04:39You could play as Jason.
04:41Yeah.
04:41Or you could play as Predator.
04:43And I thought that would be sweet to play as those two.
04:45Yeah.
04:46But alas, it's locked.
04:48And I just really didn't have the time or the energy to try and play.
04:51Well, my problem was that I would have had to unlock things.
04:55And I think I only won one fight.
04:57Johnny Cage, who you're forced to play with at first, which I would never pick him anyway.
05:02He's not a good fighter.
05:03One of his moves, he does the splits and he punches you in the nuts.
05:07That's the f***iest fight move I've ever heard.
05:10And he's going to fight in another realm?
05:12Yeah, we can't trust...
05:13Against monsters?
05:13No, we can't trust Johnny.
05:15No.
05:16Against the god of lightning, Raiden?
05:17He's going to punch him in the balls?
05:20Is that your goal move?
05:21Is that what you go to?
05:22Does a lightning god have nuts?
05:24When you think you're moving back, you'd move like kind of back, but a little up.
05:29So you'd jump backwards.
05:30Yeah, so you're like doing a jump backwards.
05:31I'm not trying to jump backwards.
05:33I'm trying to do the backwards move so I can do some attack.
05:37And it just didn't work.
05:38Yeah.
05:39You could skip your fight.
05:42I never even skipped a fight.
05:43Yeah, see, so I played through the scoring mode.
05:45You fight Scorpion.
05:46I ended up beating him.
05:47I got to Sub-Zero.
05:48He kicked my ass.
05:49He kicked my ass.
05:50Like anytime you go to punch the guy, he freezes you.
05:52Yeah.
05:52How is that fair?
05:53It's not fair.
05:54But then in like the little cut scene that they show beforehand, Sub-Zero attacks Johnny
05:58Cage with an ice sword.
06:00And Johnny Cage is able to block it with just his bare hands.
06:02Yeah.
06:03I don't know how that works.
06:05But yeah, he can freeze you every time you go to punch him and hit him in the nuts with
06:08the splits kit.
06:10Actually, I don't really know if there's a lot of good things this game is good for.
06:13Other than being a very expensive coaster.
06:15Me personally, I'd rather invest my time in like Marvel versus Camp Com.
06:18Um, maybe because I like the characters more, but I love the fighting style and I love calling
06:23those guys in, you know, to help you fight stuff.
06:25Yeah.
06:26And that's really it.
06:27It, it, there was no change.
06:29It was a graphic update to the same old game.
06:32I think they used the Unreal Engine, which you can do a ton of stuff with that as a gamer.
06:37And, uh, it's just, it was boring.
06:40It was boring.
06:41I, I hope I never had to play the game again.
06:43No, I never, I'll never play it again.
06:45Uh, thumbs down.
06:47Two thumbs down.
06:49You end up like uppercutting somebody up into the, uh, like outer space and then you
06:53fly up and you electrocute them and then you fly back down and then you slam them.
06:58Then it like shows like closeups of like their vertebrae is breaking and like their, their
07:03back breaking and their arms like coming apart.
07:06They're destroyed.
07:07Yeah.
07:07And then you look at their life.
07:09They lost like that much life.
07:10I did that to someone and I'm like, Oh, I killed that guy.
07:13His back is broken.
07:15He's dead.
07:16And he was still there and fighting me and he still beat my life.
07:18And they lose like an eighth of their life.
07:20Unrealistic.
07:21I mean, I know we're fighting in another realm to save the earth, but still most unrealistic
07:26fighting game I've ever played.
07:27And I'm a fan of Marvel Bruce Camp Cobb.
07:31That has the Incredible Hulk.
07:33We've got to get James in the shower right now.
07:36I'm full of Mortal Kombat rage.
07:38He is.
07:38He's furious.
07:39But if you want us to review a video game, go ahead and email us.
07:43DaveandChuckTheFreak at WRIF.com.
07:45So what do you want me to say?
07:47Just like, so that'll do it.
07:48Oh, so that'll do it.
07:52So that'll do it for this edition of Two Guys, One Video Game.
07:55We'll see you again next month.
07:56Two Guys, One Video Game.
