00:00The lines in this speech from Biden, I thought, were a real blast from the past.
00:05A lot of them I heard on the campaign trail.
00:08Should the Democrats stop sticking to the script if they want to be an opposition force in the U.S. right now?
00:16Well, I think the issue with respect is beyond electoral politics.
00:19I think it's beyond Democrat versus Republican.
00:22I think it's not just simply Democrats.
00:24I think it's independents.
00:25I think it's members of other parties and, yes, indeed, Republicans who should be raising these issues that you and I are discussing.
00:33Donald Trump won, I think, in large part because of Americans' concerns over the economy, over their economic futures.
00:41And the reality here is that these effective cuts to Social Security, the cuts of almost $900 billion that are proposed for Medicare and Medicaid over the next decade,
00:52and the cuts of $230 billion for food assistance will mean many Americans are worse off.
00:57So Trump, who could benefit from those concerns while in opposition, I think once you are the president and administration, you have to carry responsibility for this.
01:08So whether or not the Democrats benefit from this, that's not my immediate concern.
01:13It's how many Americans lose out because of the damage that's being done to Social Security and to other programs.
01:19Yeah.
