00:01And Will, let's just look at Andy Robertson.
00:03And before we go into his future, let's just have a look at his impact
00:07and him obviously coming in from Hull City.
00:09He was a signing, we've mentioned before,
00:11that I don't think many people really expected the heights
00:14that he could have gone to.
00:15An unbelievable career, only over 300 appearances for Liverpool
00:19through an incredible era under Jurgen Klopp as well,
00:22such a stalemate in that team.
00:24What do you sort of make of Andy Robertson's time at Liverpool
00:27and his impact and his growth as a player as well?
00:31He's been excellent, as you say.
00:32I don't think anyone expected him to have such an impact that he did.
00:36There were probably people when he signed from Hull who were relegated
00:39thinking, what are we signing him for?
00:41Because it was a problem position left back for a long time, Liverpool.
00:46They never really had anyone you trusted fully.
00:50There was Alberto Moreno there, there was Jose Enrique.
00:53Before that, players like, I don't know, John Arnarese,
00:58was he a left-back, was he a left midfielder?
01:00Fabio Aurelio has injury problems.
01:03So you're going out the back a long time.
01:05Liverpool really had a stable left-back who you can rely on.
01:10It took Robertson a little bit of time to settle in,
01:13like a lot of players did under Jürgen Klopp.
01:16But towards the second half of that first season, he was excellent.
01:19Obviously, he helped Liverpool get to the Champions League final.
01:22From there, he, without a doubt, was one of the best left-backs in the world.
01:28You know, the buccaneering performances that he delivered week in, week out,
01:33high octane, it takes a lot in a Jürgen Klopp system to do that.
01:38Consistently delivering in the final phase.
01:42There's one stage where him and Trent Alexander-Arnold were going back and forth
01:46for the amount of record assists from a defender in the Premier League.
01:52I think he was about £8 million.
01:53But that's got to be one of the best signings, pound for pounds,
02:02that Liverpool have made in this era.
02:04You know, they've made quite a few, haven't they?
02:07Your salads, your man-eats, your fans are even £75 million.
02:11But Andy Robertson for £8 million was an absolute steal.
02:14He's been an excellent service, serving for Liverpool, about to win his Premier League title
02:20and he deserves it.
02:22But I'm sure we'll get on to it.
02:23There are some questions, I might ask, but what next for him?
02:26Yeah, obviously, you know, a fair few outstanding left-backs this season
02:32that Liverpool are going to be, have been linked with in terms of Andy Robertson's successor.
02:36Do you feel maybe it is time to look at other options and just maybe, as you say,
02:41you know, Schlott's going to have a summer window.
02:43He's going to have a chance to make some rotations in this side.
02:46And Andy Robertson, I'm sure, would be happy being a squad player still for Liverpool
02:50as long as, you know, they are still high ambitions in terms of, you know, pushing for trophies.
02:56Yeah, I don't think he'd be quite happy being a squad player.
03:01I think he'd still want to be pushing himself to play, but maybe he accepts that he's 31 now
03:07and he can't play as much as he can.
03:10Look, I mean, looking at the season overall, he's recorded one assist in all competitions
03:15and that's very unlike Andy Robertson.
03:18Now, is that down to the way that he's been asked to play by Arna Slott?
03:23Perhaps.
03:25But I'm sure he'd be disappointed with those numbers.
03:28And there have been a few errors, you know, the one against West Ham recently,
03:33getting a mix-up with Virgil van Dijk and giving a couple of penalties away.
03:37And the red card against Fulham.
03:40He made a mistake at Arsenal for a goal there earlier in the season.
03:44So, it has been unlike him, making the errors that he has.
03:50And maybe it is, you know, how much ground he did cover under Jürgen Klopp,
03:56the high octane style of football.
04:00Perhaps it is just starting to catch up on him.
04:03He's still massive in the dressing room, but can Liverpool get a successor in the long-term successor?
04:08Someone who can maybe come in and rotate from next season
04:11and then play more the following season.
04:13I mean, Milos Kirk has it.
04:15Bournemouth is the name on everyone's lips, isn't he?
04:18He's had an outstanding season for the Cherries.
04:20Two goals, six assists in a side that are pushing for Europe.
04:25And he's only 21.
04:27So, his better days are very much ahead.
04:32He was signed by Bournemouth when, by Richard Hughes,
04:35Liverpool's current sporting director, when he was in his role on the south coast.
04:39So, clearly, there's a link there.
04:41He played for AZ Alkmaar.
04:43Arna Slott will be aware of him from the Dutch League.
04:47£40 million.
04:48It is a lot of money for a full-back.
04:51A significant amount, especially considering how much they signed Andy Robertson for.
04:57But maybe that's a go-on rating full-backs now, how important they are.
05:01And if Liverpool really won, you know, a top one who, in theory,
05:07could be Liverpool's left-back for the next nine, ten years,
05:12if he's only 21 now.
05:14There's, you know, look at Andy Robertson, who's 31 now.
05:16He could be the next left-back for ten years.
05:19So, maybe that would represent value for money in the long term.
05:24Another one linked to Jarrell Hato at Ajax.
05:26He's a left-back slash centre-back.
05:31I think Liverpool maybe will go for a centre-back,
05:34but they need an out-and-out left-back, really.
05:35He'll obviously leave the future of Costa Simicast somewhat up in the air
05:39if a new left-back did come in.
05:42But, yeah, you can definitely see a fresh addition arriving in the summer.
05:46So, let's see.
