24.Hours in Police Custody S01E04 (20 Oct 2014)
Transcript
00:00Satsang with Mooji
00:30That's your last to stop out on the phone call.
00:45What's that?
00:46It's good, Jay.
01:00Once a suspect is in custody, the police have 24 hours to investigate and interview.
01:09After that, it's either charge or release.
01:14You have been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking.
01:17On suspicion of stalking.
01:19On suspicion of GBH.
01:21Position and making of indecent images of children.
01:23On suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
01:26Start explaining.
01:30It's the police's job to ask what really happened.
01:33Where were you on the 28th of March?
01:35It was not me. I was not there.
01:37That could have been a hundred and one people.
01:40But it's nothing to do with me.
01:44Police!
01:45Open the door now!
01:50Who's innocent?
01:52Who's guilty?
01:53Why would Pete say that you'd assaulted him?
01:56Because he's deluded. He's a drunk.
01:58Well, that's nonsense.
02:00Police! Show me your hand!
02:02From the streets to the interrogation rooms.
02:05Where's the knife?
02:06Did you have a knife?
02:07He makes a specific threat that he is going to kill her.
02:10From the suspects to the head of CID.
02:14That's one hell of a shirt, David.
02:15I'm loving it.
02:17What is wrong?
02:19These are the men and women who have just 24 hours to find the evidence.
02:24I'm not letting him get away with it.
02:25I want him nicked and charged.
02:27If he kicks off on that at all, I'm a lover, not a fighter.
02:32Will they discover it before time runs out?
02:37Good news.
02:40Yeah.
02:40I'm going down to get the drugs.
02:57They're on me, sir.
02:58Cocaine worth thousands of pounds has been dropped in a petrol station and handed in to Luton police.
03:06How are you?
03:06How are you, mate?
03:10It's become a job for the serious crime team.
03:13I've been told once or twice I have a miserable face and I'm a bit dour.
03:23Here we go.
03:23The dream team's on there.
03:24But I call it worldly wise.
03:31Can you book us out, Roger?
03:33Yes.
03:34I don't think I would make a very good victim liaison officer.
03:37But I'd make a pretty good investigator.
03:41I've always found myself as a bit of a Jack Frost, Inspector Morse type character.
03:45Here he is.
03:49Man of the moment.
03:51What?
03:52I don't know.
03:52It's your job.
03:55Do you want me to run the phone through the NNPR as well?
03:58Yes, please, yeah.
04:00I was just filling it in.
04:02Does this phone hold a pin?
04:04Quite an old one.
04:08DC Colin Knight will be assisted by PC Ollie Tomlinson.
04:11I think I'm probably, yeah, I'm probably like the young, enthusiastic one that actually,
04:18you know, is excited still about things that come in, whereas he's a bit more level-headed
04:23than me.
04:24Ollie, do you want to come and have a look at this CCTV?
04:27Yeah, sure.
04:29Do you know the job?
04:31No, I don't, mate.
04:32What have you got?
04:32This chap here, he's seen coming into the petrol station in Dunstable.
04:39And just watch the passenger.
04:42Just watch him.
04:44See?
04:45Oh, he's dropped, yeah, yeah, he's dropped something there.
04:46And that package here gets recovered, which ends up being that package there.
04:51Heh.
04:58There's quite a lot in here, isn't there?
04:59Bloody hell.
05:00It's been tested for cocaine.
05:03Positive?
05:04Yeah.
05:08Heh.
05:08So he's literally just, the package has just fell out of his pocket?
05:12Yeah.
05:15Embarrassing for him.
05:20You know, you don't go to college to learn to be a criminal.
05:23You know, there's no, there's no training in it, I guess.
05:25So they do make mistakes and silly errors.
05:29You can't help but have a little bit of a smile, because you think, oh dear.
05:33You know, imagine being in, I can only imagine when they drove off and thought, where's the drugs?
05:41Oops.
05:42Don't always deal with the smartest of criminals, do we?
05:45No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
06:02You switch your phone off, mate.
06:04Is it off?
06:07The suspect has been arrested for shoplifting steak from a high-end supermarket.
06:14It's been observed on CCTV to select quantity of meats to the value of £94.59.
06:26Right, this is the important one for me.
06:31Have you consumed any alcohol, taken any drugs in the last 24 hours?
06:34No, I wish.
06:35Nothing, no?
06:36No.
06:37When was the last time you used, buddy?
06:39Yesterday.
06:40Okey-doke.
06:44You can just call me a bit of care as well, couldn't you?
06:46Sorry?
06:47You can just call me a bit of care as well.
06:49Probably not, mate.
06:51You might get it in prison now, I very much doubt if you get it here.
06:53You actually get people in the custody environment that are actually at rock bottom.
07:09And whether we like it or not, we don't normally see Mr Average coming through the doors.
07:14We've got people with mental health issues, we've got people with drug issues.
07:19Custody and the police station is probably a last resort for those people.
07:23What am I going to do about not being able to score?
07:31If you're here for any length of time, the doctor will come and see you.
07:34Yeah.
07:34But hopefully you won't be here that long.
07:36All right, thanks.
07:36All right.
07:37All right.
07:37Detectives in CID are struggling to identify the man seen dropping the drugs.
07:59But the car has been traced to an address in Houghton Regis.
08:08And who have we got out of these two?
08:09Nathan Jones.
08:12This is his vehicle here.
08:13We steal the Corsa.
08:15Is that him, the driver?
08:16No, it's the passenger.
08:17Oh, the one thing.
08:18Well, we think it's the passenger at the moment.
08:19Yeah.
08:23Luton has a massive, horrendously massive drug problem, which has got worse over the years
08:29that I've seen, that I've been a police officer.
08:31Drugs is just so readily available.
08:35And the peer pressure, I think, within youngsters nowadays is massive.
08:41So has the vehicle been stopped?
08:42And that's how you've caught him?
08:44No, they've done some work on it, ran the index number.
08:49Everyone's getting their drug from somewhere.
08:52It's really important to catch the dealers because these are the people that are dishing it out.
08:56There's always a chain.
09:00And if you don't put a stop to that, you've got to try and put a small dent in it at least.
09:04The initial evidence points to one man.
09:08DC Knight must bring his chief suspect in for questioning.
09:26All right, time for rest.
09:38Nathan James has been arrested.
09:40His car is the vehicle seen in the CCTV.
09:45What's he been arrested for?
09:47Possession intent to supply.
09:51What drug has it come back to?
09:54OK.
09:54OK.
09:56DC Knight suspects Nathan is involved in the supply of cocaine.
10:03Just take a seat on the bench, please, mate.
10:05We'll get all the paperwork together, all right?
10:08Yeah, and go and get the drugs.
10:10They're on me table.
10:12When you've got it on CCTV, it's a good starting point to identify him.
10:17We had the registration vehicle.
10:19But just because we've seen the offence occur, there are many doors that open that need to be shut to prove the offence.
10:24So he can't say, I didn't know they were there.
10:27They're not my drug.
10:27Someone put them there.
10:29We're ready to go and spend the jeep.
10:31I've always had a good reputation through school, being a drug addict.
10:32I've always had a good reputation through school, being a drug addict.
10:48It all depends on who you know and where you live.
10:52In this area, it's quite easy to get drugs.
10:53It's quite easy to get drugs.
10:54I don't know.
10:55It's always around them.
10:56When I'm with my mates or go out, go to parties.
10:57I swear they're easy to come by.
10:58It's always around them.
10:59When I'm with my mates or go out, go to parties.
11:03I swear they're easy to come by.
11:04I don't know.
11:05It's always around them.
11:06I don't know.
11:07It's always around them.
11:08When I'm with my mates or go out, go to parties.
11:10I swear they're easy to come by.
11:13I don't know.
11:14I don't know.
11:15It's always around them.
11:16I don't know.
11:17It's always around them.
11:18When I'm with my mates or go out, go to parties.
11:20I swear they're easy to come by.
11:25I don't know.
11:26It's a lifestyle, really.
11:40OK.
11:41Obviously, I've given your solicitor some stills.
11:44There is CCTV.
11:45It shows a silver Vauxhall Corsa put into the Dunstable BP garage.
11:50The passenger gets out and from his left side jacket pocket, a package falls out.
12:00So the packaging recovered is Exhibit JD01.
12:05We can see six bags of, I call them button bags, you know, the bags you get in your suit
12:11and they've got buttons in them.
12:13Yeah?
12:14OK.
12:15You usually find buttons in them, suit buttons, but on this occasion we find white rocks.
12:20And then we have these little tubes.
12:22And in their little mini tubes, I would say, they look to be white powder, stroke white crystals.
12:29They've been tested and they're cocaine.
12:34What can you tell me about that?
12:38No comment.
12:39This gentleman, do you recognise him?
12:43That's not me.
12:47Who is it?
12:48No comment.
12:50Would you not agree with me that that gentleman's got a strikingly similar description to what you have, facially wise?
12:57No.
13:01I can tell you now, this chap has a tattoo on the right side of his neck.
13:08Where's your tattoo?
13:16Nathan.
13:20You know.
13:23Sorry?
13:24Right side of my neck.
13:25Right side of your neck.
13:27Because if you recognise this gentleman and you know who he is and it's not you and you have nothing to do with this offence,
13:32now would be a good time to tell me so we can maybe go and speak to this gentleman regarding the offence that you've been arrested for.
13:39So who is he?
13:41No comment.
13:42OK.
13:44Brother?
13:45No comment.
13:46Cousin?
13:47No comment.
13:48Related to you in any way?
13:49No comment.
13:50OK, the vehicle is seen to leave the petrol station.
13:54We've run an insurance check on it.
13:56Who did we find was the registered owner to that vehicle?
14:03Would you like to tell me?
14:05No?
14:06You must think.
14:07Who do you think we found was the registered owner?
14:14It was Mr. Nathan James and Hound Regers Dunstable.
14:17Who's that?
14:18No comment.
14:19It's you isn't it?
14:20OK.
14:21I don't believe you were the driver of it because I believe you are this person who clearly is seen on CCTV not driving it.
14:27So why are you not driving your vehicle on that day in question?
14:30That's not me.
14:32Who is it then?
14:33No comment.
14:35OK.
14:36Let's look at the facts that we know.
14:37Your vehicle registered to you that you've owned since February 2014.
14:41Pulls into a garage.
14:43This gentleman leaves the passenger's front side.
14:47Drops this item.
14:49Comes in.
14:50Pays.
14:51Gets into the vehicle.
14:52Drives off.
14:53Yep.
14:54He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck.
14:55The same place that you have a tattoo on the right side of your neck.
14:58What do you say about that?
15:02That's a common place.
15:03That's a common place.
15:04OK.
15:05He's in your vehicle.
15:06You're saying it is me?
15:07Yeah.
15:08I am saying it's you.
15:09It's not.
15:10OK.
15:11So who is it then?
15:12My comment.
15:13OK.
15:14And you're saying that these items of clothing won't be found at your highest address?
15:15No.
15:16OK.
15:17I've got no further questions.
15:18I'm now concluding this interview.
15:28Yeah, it looks like 2003 is when it all started for you, wasn't it?
15:43Yeah.
15:44Four, five, five, five, six, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven.
15:51And then it all went quiet.
15:52Yeah.
15:53That ain't bad though, is it?
15:55It's actually 2010, isn't it?
15:5829th of the 11th, 2010.
16:00So you've done well.
16:01Yeah, it's been all right.
16:02Just need to keep it up, buddy.
16:11I don't think I'd get pizza.
16:13That'd be the meat piece, which is tango and cheeky, spicy beef, pepperoni and lamb donna.
16:18Ooh.
16:19Lamb donna?
16:20Investigating officer Phil Stanton will interrogate Darren about the stolen meat.
16:33He's not even subtle, this bloke.
16:35He's literally gone in with an empty carrier bag, chucked as much meat in as he can and just run away.
16:42He's literally...
16:50Oh, he's tried to sidestep the big security guard at the end.
16:53And the guard's just literally thought, I'm not having this.
16:56Bang.
16:57Just rugby tackled him round the waist.
16:59Oh, sorry, you shouldn't laugh at that sort of thing, but that is funny.
17:04sort of thing but that is funny I'll take you just take you just smoking not
17:13injecting or anything like that what recently are they clean yeah we still
17:21need a needle exchange where they got some really good wipes I don't know if
17:25there's any in here I'm gonna put some of these in your property mate all right
17:32yeah the beauty of the custody environment is it stops at the gate once
17:41they're there they're there they're in the cell they're in the custody area it's a
17:44good place to get into people so to speak and if we can give them just that little
17:49bit of help I mean that's what we join the job for in it it really is what we
17:53join the job for how much are you using bud trying to do one a day one bag a day
18:01easy you're getting looting in it that's the problem yeah don't tell me I get
18:09messages off about 10 dealers every day yeah I'm banging I've got banging gear
18:15I come to me company unbelievable in it that's the problem in it yeah so she's got
18:23to be strong my mom and dad split up when I was a baby and my mom I had a bit of a
18:36nervous breakdown just after that and left me on my nana grane's doorstep and I
18:44didn't have any contact with her up until I was about 10 or 11 let's find you
18:49somebody sit down for half an hour while the officers sort sort their bits and
18:53pieces out all right my nana granddad they they kept me out of going into care
18:59and did the best that they could do for me and probably raised me better than my
19:04mom could have done oh sorry but they just wanted what's the best for me they
19:11wanted me to live a normal life I just feel so sorry for them the way that I've turned out
19:19all right Nathan is waiting to be interviewed for a second time detectives need to positively
19:43identify the man seen in possession of the drugs and Nathan is refusing to confirm it was him
19:49you think he's the driver now look at his build we said he looks a bit shorter time
20:06we had the vehicle registration and it come back to the chap's name and the address it had to be him
20:20but why would the owner of the vehicle not be driving
20:25they're quite distinctive at the back those trainers I mean those jeans are really distinctive
20:37all right we'll do the section 18 see what we get from there
20:41without further evidence the case against Nathan will collapse
20:48all right we'll see when we get back find something here make sure you find something
20:53don't come back empty-handed please
20:56I'll try to
20:58left here yep
21:00hello
21:08I'm PC Shane from Leeson Police Station does Nathan live here
21:11there's your in there
21:13I reckon they're the trousers
21:30yeah they are
21:32they've got black boots at the bottom yeah
21:35has anyone come back while we've been here
21:40it's looking like he's got a younger brother
21:43he's got the tattoos and same sort of description and he's smaller
21:48where do you have us on
21:50and what's it is it Daniel or Danny
21:53it is Daniel James
21:56has he ever been in trouble with the police before
21:58hello mate have you had a look at the picture of his brother Danny
22:05do you know what he looks like
22:06now Danny's out he's not here but we found a jacket and shoes that
22:12as soon as Sam was talking and said oh
22:15they look like the shoes are after to be fair to her
22:17and um
22:19they're Danny's shoes and then we found a jacket that belongs to Danny that
22:22looks like the jacket
22:23and uh the mum said
22:25the mum says he's got tattoos as well on his neck
22:28when you're interviewing someone and you truly believe that is the person
22:34uh to then find out that's not the person through mistaken identity
22:39will weaken the case
22:42I know the defence will play a big part in that
22:45I've got piles of evidence for Colin to go through
22:48police have found their evidence
22:52but it points to a different man
22:54so you picked our daddy and you think it's him
22:58it must be now
23:00and the mum said he's got his rose tattoo with writing
23:03to be honest it's mostly the first time ever I've had a case
23:07a case of mistaken identity
23:08and I like to think it's a mistake on every repeat
23:12well I'll go down and speak to Sabrina and say we can have another interview
23:16yeah
23:34there you go
23:35I'm going to be there
23:37I'm going to be there
23:38I'm going to be there
23:39who's got the guns
23:46I'm the brains
23:50who's the brawn
23:51I'm like a mini Colin
23:54in your dreams
24:09i am not going to go over old ground we've covered a lot of stuff in the first interview
24:18nathan and you had plenty of opportunity to answer my questions some which you did and some
24:23which you refused to um we spoke in the first interview about whether you had brothers you
24:29know in fact asked does anyone look like you or resemble you and you decided to go no comment
24:35uh you do have a brother don't you and his name is daniel james that's correct isn't it
24:42daniel james is your brother do you want to tell me about daniel
24:44um i would say he again he looks in his late teens early 20s
24:52um in height i would say he's smaller than you um and the most distinctive thing is he has a
24:59tattoo on his neck because it's of writing isn't it and a rose the correction sign that wouldn't i
25:04and it's maybe more prominent than what your tattoo is in fact it's a lot more prominent than what
25:08your tattoo is
25:09it's safe to say nathan that daniel was that person in your car 3rd of march 2014
25:23it's correct isn't it nathan
25:25and you're the driver
25:29and i get nathan i get why you're not telling me it's your brother
25:36because you don't want to drop in a minute i totally get that um
25:41he's your brother and you wouldn't want to be seeing grass and your brother up
25:46anything you want to say to the place nathan
25:52i've got no further questions
26:00if i found out my sisters were drug dealing
26:13of course that would be so difficult so difficult to say would i drop a minute or not
26:18to drop your brother sister dad mum in it yeah of course it's hard and
26:26that must be a very big moral dilemma that they have to sort of live with
26:32police have no choice but to release nathan now they want to speak to his brother danny
26:46um we're gonna bail you out um if she said anything about your brother
26:52that is my contact number and that's the hours i'm working tomorrow
26:58it would be nice that's what it helped yeah and he's not going to be here as long as you
27:04because a lot of it's done anyway
27:05well done thank you sarge i shall see you in may if i don't need to i will be in touch
27:16to let you know all right take it easy
27:19hello darren um do you want to come up we'll get uh we'll have a chat
27:33bear with me no i don't know that's a good guess
27:37okay i've got a choice of three keys right one first time
27:44okay cool
27:50okay you've been arrested on suspicion of theft from shop um and the grants for that are that
27:57you were seen to select goods by staff for m&s to a value of just under 100 pounds um and
28:02staff have identified you as being a serial offender and have detained you when leaving
28:06the store so if you can tell me what happened leading up to a restaurant um i left home
28:14knowing that i was going to go to mikes and spencer's and try and rob it i needed some money
28:19to get some heroin so i went into this store just put a load of meat in the bag was caught on my way
28:31out so and that's us you said you knew you were going to rob mns yeah tell me tell me why mns
28:41uh because mns do the best food okay
28:47it's not any meat it's mns mate isn't it okay fair enough tell me a little bit about your heroin
28:59addiction i first tried heroin uh about six years ago when i was in jail tried it and loved it loved it
29:09from the off i was using it for a couple of years but i give it up for like three years but i picked up
29:17drinking habit instead so i came to loot and to stop my drinking habit my family paid for me to go
29:24into rehab i came out of treatment and decided to stay around here and started taking heroin again so
29:35okay yeah i mean beyond these incidents do you think there are any more that you want to get off
29:42your chest now before we find out about them no no okay is that because there aren't any or
29:50you're chancing your arm chancing fair enough the time is now 21 45
29:59and i'm concluding the interview okay
30:09i mean you get any help for for this no no i did last year uh like i gave up for 90 days
30:21and the pain's too much
30:29terrible life like once i started yeah because i didn't again like it's miserable like
30:36hmm i mean you settled in luton could you go back to your family or anything yeah i'm thinking
30:41about doing it anyway because luton's not the greatest place to be if you're on the drugs
30:49sounds like they're quite supportive of your family if they paid for your rehab for the alcohol stuff so
30:53you're just ready to be let go
31:10i don't know why i'm gonna do it i'm dreading it what do you mean to tie yourself over yeah
31:23i put my family through all sorts like during my drug use i just want to make my family proud like
31:37i want a job but i've got a criminal history and people don't want to give criminals jobs because
31:46they think that they're gonna get ripped off
31:51no i can't blame them at all but anybody deserves a check-in to the chance i think
32:01it's confirmed it's him on the cctv so what do i do well i can't see there's any other option than
32:07to charge him i did say to him that my starting position would be that i don't think we necessarily
32:13need to keep him and then he turned around at the end of the interview he said i don't know what i'm
32:18going to do when i get out of here and said what do you mean he said oh i've got no drugs
32:21i thought right okay so does he want to stay no he doesn't want to stay he wants to get out
32:27and i and i would have fully supported it had he not told me that and now i'm starting to think well
32:31if we let him out he then goes off on a massive spree i'm a bit of a sap but i do feel a bit sorry for
32:37the guy
33:00danny nathan's younger brother has handed himself in for questioning
33:04i'll be down in two minutes all right cheers back
33:11he's just handing himself in now
33:16i'm going down to custody hannah
33:26okay daniel empty all your property up there and then i will give you a search
33:29time of rest 10 past four
33:37have you had any alcohol in the last 24 hours any drugs are you dependent on alcohol or drugs
33:42you depend on you an alcoholic or you're a regular drug user
33:50so you're saying no to that i need to put yes or no in an answer it's just so we can look after you
33:55that's what i'm going to try and trip you up in relation to whether you're doing things or not
33:58being involved in this case
34:02thank you appreciate it
34:04right well i'm going to go and give him disclosure and show him the video and then um i'll be back
34:13do you have questions first or um just in terms of volume and how many is the number of items of white
34:19um there are there are very small tubes about that big
34:26what do they look like like that sort of thing yeah a bit uncanny that you've got that right
34:3312 of them um with finely crushed powder and i would say about nine dill bags of rocks
34:43this is guys do you know where it is dunceville high street so this is the vehicle in question
34:51we do get a good close-up of the number plate so we're happy that it's his brother's vehicle
34:57you can see on sort of frame by frame that he has a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck
35:04that's a tattoo yeah it's thin isn't it let's be honest uh you'll say that's a tattoo what would
35:16you say is then say it's poor quality cctv what it's not conclusive cctvs or that okay
35:25well he's unblemished on the face you can clearly see facial hair and i would say that it's lighting
35:30from above okay we clearly done in section 18 yesterday and we have recovered a coat jeans
35:42and trainers that all match the poor quality cctv just watched and mum's confirmed they are daniel's clothes
35:54colin knight's one of the officers um that i've seen on a number of occasions and we actually get on
35:59fairly well we both understand that we're both there doing our jobs professionally and uh yeah we
36:05can we can certainly have a bit of a laugh when we're in police custody together yeah
36:12okay all right okay yeah let us know when you're ready he's a bit cocksure of himself he wears a nice
36:21suit we've got his designer stubble and his hair's neat and tidy and yeah he's all right and
36:29he's a bit of a white boy when i was doing the risk assessment with him i said to him going through
36:35it are you dependent on alcohol and he just looked even now you depend on drugs and he looked at his
36:39solicitor and then he looked at me and didn't say anything he said he said he won't be answering
36:42that question so he's obviously he's got a coke habit probably yeah pretty large one yeah
36:49i started smoking weed and like little things but through upper school i started going on to
37:05the stronger stuff what are the main drugs that you take caring really caring and coke
37:19well i've got a problem i do doing frequently how much money do you spend on drugs a lot pretty much all
37:27more wages
37:31i'd like to control my addiction but i'm just not ready to yet
37:36you got a set of keys there yes okay
37:48okay what's this
37:49uh darren darren darren hello darren how you doing all right darren i'm the custody officer
37:56um i just want to seek some clarification uh and based on what you tell me it kind of like
38:02gives me an idea as to how we deal with you as far as tonight's concerned yeah okay um
38:07so what does life look like for you now then sir if you get bail and stuff yeah where are we going
38:12to go you're going to engage yeah i think i've been talking about giving up for
38:19i don't know how long um but yeah seriously um i'm i'm looking at you're looking at getting charged
38:24we're going to bail here yeah but but i'll be honest with you though i want to be crystal clear
38:29um that you're not going to find yourself in the position where if i bail you that you're straight
38:33out there and commit the fences again okay all right we're just going to sort a few things out
38:40and we'll get you up and deal with you all right oh my good grief so i say he did you know i wouldn't
38:55have thought anything of it had he not made that comment at the end and i think well but then as
38:59soon as he says that you know i've got to be fair exactly and raise that exactly then goes up on a
39:05massive screen oh don't don't
39:23um sergeant it's calling right about and we're ready to come to interview i shall get hold of it
39:30thank you i've got a few tattoos on you what's your best one the ribs
39:42my nephew started uh apprenticeship um doing tattooing and somebody asked him to do a weir rabbit
39:50okay daniel if you want to take a seat on the other side please mate
40:03everyone is good to go we'll crack on
40:11we'll go to the item that was dropped on that day in question um it's a picture of the package that was
40:19dropped um i ain't no drug dealer um but what i would say is it looks like they've been prepared
40:29to sell would you agree with me were you in possession of these drugs on the third of march
40:37no comment
40:40um i think we'll go on to the cct there i think it'd be a good time to show you
40:43can you see the screen
40:49what i want to do is get off my chair and come around and explain to you
40:53okay it says the date and time and this vehicle has just pulled up
40:59the passenger front door opens and a male gets out on the phone wearing a black jacket and as he
41:04turns around a package has dropped to the floor is that you
41:08okay i'm not expecting you to identify yourself via that footage because clearly we don't get a very
41:15good view of the gentleman
41:18what i'm going to do then daniel show you a second bit of footage there's a camera inside the shop
41:27okay so if i stop it there it's a good clear picture of the gentleman who's that
41:33i want you to look very closely at the right side of that gentleman's neck please daniel
41:50now i take it we all have our own opinions of what that may be on the side of your neck
41:55i describe as a tattoo that you can distinctively see three lines
42:02and i would say then three lines pretty much match three lines of writing on the right side of
42:09your neck daniel
42:16daniel you're clearly under arrest on suspicion of possession of the intent to supply a class a drug
42:22and in my opinion and it is only my opinion quite a large amount of drugs
42:29if i've got it totally and hopelessly wrong daniel and it's not you
42:35now would be a pretty good sign to tell me where you were give me an alibi or any information that
42:40would take you further away from this incident
42:42i've got nothing further to add daniel i'm now concluding this interview
43:03you're going to stand there a sec here he is ah hello
43:19okay you know what's going to happen going to be charged with three counts of theft
43:23stormed meat to the value of 102 pounds 70 belonging to marks and spencers

45:00need another mobile phone, he needs money, I'll give anything and throw it back now.

45:09and a time.
45:14You're going to be bailed out okay, I've spoken to Matt Lickard, he's fully aware for a date
45:33and a time.
45:35There's always a trigger offence of why something's happened, I truly believe that there's a fight
45:49because alcohol is involved, a drugs job because people are addicts or they need money, I don't
45:56think that they're a bad person, you know, not all bad people commit crime.
46:03Well you're done Sarge, thank you everything's all done, thank you very much.
46:11I believe that everyone on a daily basis has a decision to make and I think they need to
46:17be accountable for their decisions.
