A much wetter picture as we head into this evening. Bands of rain that moved through southwest England and Wales will continue northwards bringing outbreaks of rain across northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Central and eastern areas of England should remain dry until the early hours when they too may see some rain, particularly in the far east. With the cloud around, feeling milder than recent nights, bar in the far north of Scotland where clear skies may result in frost and chilly conditions overnight- This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 12/04/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Craig Snell.

00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04As we go through the next few days, the weather is certainly going to be much more changeable
00:08than what we have been used to over the last few weeks, with rain already moving in across
00:13many western parts as we go through the course of tonight, and actually reaching all areas
00:18as we start Sunday morning, but probably not too much in the east, but still a few splashes
00:24I think here.
00:25But with the cloud and rain around, it'll be a milder night for most of us compared to
00:29recent nights, exceptions up across the far west of Scotland, we could just see a touch
00:33of frost here as we start Sunday morning, but elsewhere generally looking at temperatures
00:38not much lower than about 5 to 7 degrees.
00:41So overall as we start Sunday across England and Wales, more in the way of cloud in the
00:46sky, with some outbreaks of rain continuing to clear their way eastwards.
00:51More of a cheery start across Scotland and Northern Ireland, but even here as the day
00:55goes on we start to see some showers moving from the west, and really for most of us into
01:00the afternoon it's going to be a mixture of bright spells and a scattering of showers.
01:04Some of these showers will be on the heavy side, potentially the odd rumble of thunder, and maybe
01:09turning a little bit wintry across the mountains of Scotland.
01:13For all of us, temperatures down on recent days, generally reaching the low teens, could
01:18still just hang on to a little bit of warmth in the southeast, could see highs here reaching
01:22around 16 or 17 degrees.
01:26Into the evening hours, for a lot of England and Wales actually it should turn fairly dry,
01:31with some lengthy clear spells developing, but for Scotland and Northern Ireland an increase
01:35in wind, with some further outbreaks of rain working their way in from the Atlantic.
01:39So quite a wet and blustery night for some parts here, but that will help keep temperatures
01:44up here around 6 to 7 degrees as our lows, but under the clearest skies further southeast we
01:50could see a touch of frost as we start the new working week on Monday.
01:54So Monday itself, for many parts of East Anglia, southeast England actually, should be a fairly
01:59reasonable day, with some spells of sunshine.
02:02Elsewhere we will see further outbreaks of rain moving, interspersed by maybe a few brighter
02:07moments from time to time, and still fairly blustery out towards the west.
02:11So if you're stuck under the cloud and rain, and in that breeze, it's going to be fairly
02:16disappointing compared to recently, but still potentially up to about 16 or 17 degrees in
02:22the southeastern corner.
02:24If you want more detailed weather information for the weather where you are over the next
02:28couple of days, you can always check out our website or our app.
