00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04We have a lot of wet weather to contend with over the next 24 hours and also some higher temperatures.
00:10Now here's your rain warning through Tuesday evening extending from the West Country,
00:14clipping the West Midlands, much of Wales towards Manchester and Liverpool.
00:19Now the winds are coming in from the south, bringing with it that wet weather
00:22and eventually we'll see a rain warning across the south-east of Northern Ireland
00:26from midnight and into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
00:30Now it will be mild everywhere, there will be a lot of cloud around
00:34but also some outbreaks of rain which will be heavy.
00:37It clears on Thursday, yes we'll see some showers move in from the west
00:40but a much better day all round with some sunshine.
00:43Although hang on to your hats, into Friday winds pick up significant strength
00:48and again rain arrives across the north-west.
00:51Now for the time being, Tuesday evening, you can see where the heaviest pulses are.
00:55They're extending across the West Country, central-southern England,
00:58covering much of Wales and clipping Northern Ireland.
01:01Now through the night, that wet weather will push ever northwards towards Northern England,
01:06eventually reaching parts of Scotland.
01:09Towards the north of Scotland, you'll see a drier night, that includes Orkney.
01:14A windy night though for Shetland as eventually we'll see that rain arrive across the central belt.
01:20Temperatures will be on the mild side wherever you are
01:23and those warning zones extend to 6am for Northern Ireland
01:27until midday across more southern and western parts of England and Wales.
01:32So it's a wet start to the day across many northern and western areas
01:36and again heavy pulses can't be ruled out.
01:38Dry skies from the Midlands, East Anglia as well as the south-eastern Lincolnshire.
01:43Although over the higher grounds, lots of low clouds and some patchy drizzle.
01:47But notice more wet weather feeds in across the West Country as well as Wales
01:51as we head through the afternoon as this first batch arrives across central and then northern parts of Scotland.
01:57Always filaments of rain across Northern England, southern Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
02:02Heaviest bursts always towards the east.
02:04But look at these temperatures, well above average for this time of year.
02:08So after a mild start, we'll see 15 or 16 for Scotland, 17 for Northern Ireland,
02:1418 for Wales and Northern England and 20 or 21 down towards the south-east.
02:19It's a breezy day, rather muggy though and always a lot of cloud away from more south-eastern areas.
02:26So that's the picture through Wednesday afternoon.
02:28Into evening time, it remains wet across many areas.
02:32So as we head through the night, you can see more wet weather moves up from the south.
02:36This time extending further east and marching its way across Scotland's system.
02:41Heavy downpours likely, windy towards the south, particularly the West Country into the first part of Thursday.
02:47Brighter skies on Thursday, it's a milder day.
02:49But notice showers always in the mix towards the west and showery bursts of rain across the far north.
02:55Your outlook then through Friday.
02:57As you saw on that synoptic chart, we'll see stronger winds come in from the west.
03:02Outbreaks of rain persistent across western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
03:06Showers ahead of it, cloud spills towards the south of it.
03:09But some brighter weather across central and southern parts of England and Wales.
03:13And temperatures still up to the mid-teens, if not 16 or 17 degrees Celsius.
03:18I'll see you later.
