00:00Good morning.
00:01Welcome to your latest Met Office weather update.
00:03There's mixed fortunes across the UK today.
00:05For some of us we'll see plenty of rain but for others it's actually going to be a largely
00:09fine day to come.
00:11And that really is the case for parts of eastern England and especially so for East Anglia
00:15and southeastern England.
00:16Plenty of sunshine to come here today.
00:18It might well turn cloudy for a time but that will be soon gone again with some late sunshine
00:24to come here.
00:25But elsewhere we'll see this line of rain developing from eastern Scotland down into
00:29northwest England, parts of Wales and maybe parts of Devon and Cornwall too.
00:33So quite a miserable day to come here.
00:36To the west of it for western Scotland and Northern Ireland we just continue the mix of
00:39sunshine and showers what we saw on Sunday.
00:43Temperatures in the north we'll probably reach low double figures maybe 13 or 14 in a few
00:49spots but where we do see the sunny skies down towards the southeast a little bit warmer than
00:53what we saw on Sunday could see highs reaching around 19 or 20 degrees in a few spots.
00:58Into the evening now as we continue with this band of rain.
01:02It will weaken a little bit as we go through the course of the night but at the same time
01:06we start to see pulses of heavy rain spread their way northwards across eastern areas.
01:10Could even hear the odd rumble of thunder too.
01:13So all in all as we start Tuesday morning for much of Scotland, England and Wales it's
01:18going to be a bit of a cloudy and damp picture.
01:20Especially across parts of Wales, south west England and over towards the far east.
01:24But with a cloud cover in place it will be a milder night for most of the UK.
01:29Some parts of the south could even stay into double figures.
01:31Exceptions over towards Northern Ireland and western Scotland where we continue that mix
01:35of clear spells and scattered showers so we could just see a touch of frost in the countryside.
01:41But it's here on Tuesday where we'll see the best of any sunshine.
01:44But again we just still need to cater for a few showers here.
01:48Elsewhere rather grey skies with some further pulses of heavy rain.
01:53Maybe another pulse just moving into parts of Wales as we go into the afternoon.
01:57So we're keeping an eye on this area of rain over the next couple of days.
02:02But for most of us with the cloud cover in place down a couple of degrees compared to
02:07Monday with highs maybe just reaching around 15 or 16 degrees in a few spots.
02:12Further north generally a very similar feel to things as what we'll see today.
