00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05High pressure is building from the south, which means the weather will settle down.
00:10Even so, through the next few hours we continue to see a feed of cloud
00:15and also some outbreaks of rain associated with this frontal system.
00:19Showers will remain in place across the north-west until later in the day on Wednesday
00:24as high pressure extends towards Scotland and then Scandinavia.
00:29Then we develop an easterly wind across more southern areas,
00:32bringing in more cloud and a cold feel to things.
00:36So let's pick up on some detail.
00:38Here's that weather front. It's fairly patchy in terms of rain.
00:41A bit of a breeze through this evening, but it is clearing.
00:44At the same time, showery rain across the far north and east of Scotland clears.
00:48A rash of showers moving in across Northern Ireland,
00:51western and central parts of Scotland towards the north.
00:54The risk of thunder here, it could be heavy with hail,
00:58certainly some snow over the highest ground.
01:00And in shelter in rural spots, expect some frost as we start the day on Wednesday.
01:05But tomorrow, Wednesday, will dawn bright for many and dry with some sunshine.
01:11Showers from the word go across the north as well as the west of Scotland,
01:14some clipping the north-west of Northern Ireland.
01:17One or two isolated showers could just drift across England and Wales,
01:21but generally speaking, it's a fine day here with some sunshine.
01:24Eastern Scotland, southern parts of Northern Ireland also getting away
01:27with a fine afternoon with some sunshine.
01:29Perhaps more cloud across southern counties through the middle to the latter part of the day.
01:34Winds are light here by the end of the day, 7 to 9 degrees Celsius,
01:396 to 8 across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:41Still that breeze, though, coming in across the western side of Scotland,
01:45clipping Northern Ireland.
01:47And that will deliver one or two showers through evening time.
01:50But it will turn frosty through Wednesday night.
01:53Overnight, clearer skies, even some fog patches.
01:56That frost extends northwards and southwards.
01:59So a cold start to the day come Thursday morning,
02:03the fairly widespread frost away from where we see more breeze mixing up the air.
02:08Bright skies, though, through Thursday.
02:10It's a fine day with sunshine, blue sky across many areas.
02:14More cloud, perhaps, across East Anglia as well as the southeast.
02:17The winds will pick up here.
02:19Certainly on Friday, high pressure sits across Scandinavia,
02:22a squeeze on the isobars across central and southern parts of England and Wales.
02:26So quite a significant wind chill and there will be more cloud.
02:31Brighter skies always further north and northeast with some sunshine.
02:36But towards the south, yes, you'll see more cloud.
02:39There's a chance of one or two light showers here.
02:42So all in all, the weather, it remains fine and settled for the next few days.
02:47It does turn colder, though, with the risk of some night frosts and windy in the south on Friday.
02:53See you later.
