There's no sign of spring across much of the Northeast this week, with wintry weather making a comeback in multiple states.
Transcript
00:00It's a cold pattern here for April in the northeast.
00:02That's right, the north central, the northeast, almost across the board,
00:05we're going to be tracking cooler weather with cold rainfall here as we head into this evening.
00:09Even some pockets of some snowflakes being mixed in with that cold rain as we head into this evening here
00:14across parts of the Midwest into the northeast.
00:17Temperature-wise right now, temperatures are starting to dip here for some areas.
00:20We have more cities in the 30s here as we head into sunset,
00:24but overall we're tracking a mix of 30s, 40s, and even some 50s.
00:28Some localized areas off to the south primarily.
00:30We will see some more snowfall here as we head throughout Thursday night, Friday morning especially,
00:35especially across parts of eastern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and northwestern parts of Massachusetts.
00:41So yes, we will see some more accumulating snowfall in the forecast here for parts of New England
00:46as we head into Friday.
00:48But overall this is primarily going to be a rain event here across this region.
00:52We'll see a couple of rounds and waves of some light to moderate rain,
00:55but as you can see here, some of these totals will be pretty heavy for some areas including
01:00New Jersey and the New York metro.
01:04So we will be watching up for some heavy rain across that region right there.
01:07But overall across the northeast, it's going to be cold and it's going to be wet here as we head into the weekend.
01:12Here's the overall setup for this evening and tonight.
01:14You can see this storm center is going to work its way to the south of the Great Lakes.
01:19So the center of circulation, we're going to be seeing some cold rainfall here as we head into tonight.
01:23But to the north, conditions will be favorable here, especially in the mid-levels of the atmosphere.
01:27It'll be just cold enough to where we can't rule out the possibility of some snowflakes being mixed in
01:31with some of that cold rain here as we head into the overnight hours.
01:34And that cold rain with that snowfall being mixed in will work its way across other portions of New England
01:39here as we head throughout your Thursday.
01:41But Thursday is going to be a wet forecast day here across the majority of the southern portions there
01:46of the northeast with severe weather there off to the south and off to the southwest.
01:50Temperature-wise, we're going to see temperatures widespread below historical averages here
01:54with cloudy skies and some rain and even some snowfall chances here across the board.
