A clear and fine day across the country, maybe a touch cooler on coastlines in the east with moderate winds. Prolonged sunshine through today, so take care with plenty of sunscreen. Turning chillier overnight and into tomorrow morning. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 07/04/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Alex Burkill.

00:00Hopefully you're not tiring of the sunshine the blue skies because there is
00:04plenty more to come as we go through well much of this week high pressure
00:09firmly in control it does shift around a little bit as a result our wind
00:13direction changes and how much moisture how much cloud we're going to see will
00:17alter a little bit but on the whole high pressure is the story this week and so
00:22there is going to be lots of fine settled weather and that's the picture
00:25that we have through Monday afternoon barely a cloud in the sky for most of us
00:29albeit a little bit of cloud out towards the North Sea and across the far
00:33north of Scotland Orkney and Shetland having a bit of cloud here otherwise
00:36plenty of sunshine and slightly lighter winds than we saw over the weekend
00:41there was a bit of a nagging breeze for a few places albeit across some eastern
00:46and southern coastal parts a bit of a breeze here and so that's going to make
00:49it feel a touch cooler for some places but further west that's where we're
00:53going to see the highest temperatures peaking mid-teens for most of us highs
00:57of around 17 or 18 Celsius perhaps so feeling pretty warm indeed it is worth
01:02bearing in mind though the Sun does have some decent strength behind it now
01:05generally moderate UV levels so do take care if you're going to be out in the
01:10sunshine for any prolonged periods of time after a sunny day we have then a
01:14largely clear evening and mostly clear night still some cloud though for the
01:19far north of Scotland and there will be some low clouds and missed some fog
01:22patches pushing into areas around the Humber and even elsewhere with the
01:27clear skies light winds a few pockets of mist and fog are quite possible and
01:31with that we are going to see temperatures turning a little bit on the
01:34chilly side dropping low single figures in quite a few places could even be a
01:39touch of frost in some prone rural spots so a chilly start to the day on Tuesday
01:44for most and with that there's also likely to be a zone of cloud developing
01:48somewhere to the south of London similar to what we saw through this morning a
01:52Surrey sausage if you will but that shouldn't last particularly long that
01:55will clear away as will most of the mist and fog patches that will have
01:59developed overnight albeit some around perhaps southeast Scotland northeast
02:03England may linger for a little while through the day generally I think there
02:08will again be lots of sunshine lots of blue skies on offer as we go through
02:11tomorrow but perhaps the sunshine a little bit hazier a bit more high-level
02:15cloud around and actually across some parts of East Anglia Lincolnshire a bit
02:19more cloud in general but still it is going to be a pretty fine picture and
02:24actually temperatures are going to be a little bit higher than today towards the
02:28West is where again going to see the highest temperatures highs around 1819
02:33Celsius perhaps in the east where we get the cloud it will feel a little bit
02:37cooler but nonetheless feeling pretty warm in that spring sunshine as we go
02:42towards the end of the week we are sticking with high pressure and so that
02:46means we're going to continue to see some pretty warm days like I said at the
02:49start though the high pressure shifts around a little bit our wind direction
02:52changes and so where we see the highest temperatures that will shift a little
02:56bit in fact across some eastern parts of Scotland between Wednesday and Thursday
03:00temperatures are going to jump quite markedly but with the high pressure the
03:05clear skies we're going to still have some relatively cool nights for the time
03:10being towards the end of the week signs of some rain pushing its way in from the
03:14north-northwest but we'll firm up on the details for that near at the time if you
03:18want to know a bit more about what the weather is going to be doing through
03:21this week check out our week ahead forecast with honor which will be
03:24available on our YouTube channel later on this afternoon otherwise I'll see
03:28you again soon bye bye
