00:00When we talk about cardiovascular diseases, it is important to know that there are significant
00:08differences between men and women in terms of prevalence, clinical manifestation and response
00:13to treatments.
00:14These gender differences influence patient awareness, prevention strategies
00:20and therapeutic approaches, making it necessary to focus specifically on cardiovascular risk
00:25in women.
00:26Among the evidence brought to the event, Women Towards a Aware Heart,
00:30designed by Daichi Sankyo Italy and carried out in Milan, the different mortality rates
00:34for cardiovascular causes depend on the gender.
00:37In female sex, deaths from cardiovascular events represent 46% of the total,
00:44against 38% of the male.
00:46What is due to this high mortality?
00:49Probably also an underestimation on the part of women, but also by doctors themselves,
00:55of the symptoms that are linked to these diseases.
00:59Just think of the classic example of myocardial infarction, which is classically manifested
01:05in men with pain in the left arm, while in women the symptoms are often much more
01:11blurred, they are intestinal pain, nausea, great tiredness.
01:16Very often a woman finds herself going to the emergency room with these very strong disorders
01:20and is recovered in a gastroenterology department.
01:23This clearly translates into a delay in diagnosis, a delay in therapy and therefore
01:29a higher mortality.
01:30Cardiovascular risk does not only concern the post-menopausal phase, as is often thought,
01:36but the entire lifespan of the woman.
01:38In an assessment of cardiovascular risk, it is important to keep in mind,
01:44in addition to the traditional cardiovascular factors such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia,
01:49diabetes, obesity and smoking, also those peculiar risk factors, therefore specific
01:55genres of the moments of a woman's life, such as polycystic ovary syndrome, early menarche,
02:03complications related to pregnancy, therefore hypertension or gestational diabetes.
02:08And then those moments in the specific, typical phase of menopause that accompanies a process
02:17of symptoms such as the appearance of physical modification, therefore the probability of
02:23metabolic syndrome, the appearance of diabetes, the increase of cholesterol.
02:28So our task is to embrace and support women in their cardiovascular journey
02:34throughout their lives.
02:37With this event, Da'ici Sanchi Italia testifies to the commitment so that women's health
02:41is recognized as a fundamental social and economic investment and gender medicine as
02:47a strategic goal of Italian public health.
02:50We are happy to have organized this event today because for us as a company, for me
02:55personally, it is important to emphasize the centrality of gender medicine and cardiovascular
03:00prevention.
03:01Women can have different symptoms and have different risk factors.
03:05For us, it is very important to raise awareness on these aspects to support health care systems,
03:12doctors, and especially women, so that they recognize these symptoms, prevent them and
03:17treat them effectively.
