00:00Help people at high risk of cardiovascular events to correct the most common mistakes
00:09in lifestyle, prevention and therapy.
00:11It is with this intention that Novartis launches the campaign from heart to heart, presented
00:16at the Policlinic of Milan and sponsored by the Italian Association of Cardiac Disabilities
00:20and the Italian Foundation for the Heart.
00:22Committed to the research and development of innovative drugs in the field of cardiovascular
00:26diseases, Novartis in fact supports the sensitization and information of the population.
00:31From heart to heart it wants to be a campaign that helps the general population to dose
00:40cholesterol and to have visits that allow to identify cardiovascular risk factors
00:51and to patients who have already had cardiovascular events that can in this way understand what
01:01the residual risk is and avoid that similar events can be repeated and therefore that
01:07the heart stops beating too soon.
01:10Among the main cardiovascular risk factors is LDL cholesterol, commonly called
01:15bad cholesterol.
01:16It is a causal link, because it is shown both by genetics, by epidemiology, by biology,
01:24by research studies, but even more importantly by clinical trials.
01:28The values to keep away from are all values above a value of 70 mg per person
01:35at high risk and 55 mg per person at very high risk.
01:39It is therefore particularly important to sensitize the population, especially those at risk,
01:44to respect a correct lifestyle and inform them about the therapeutic progress made in the management of bad cholesterol.
01:50For the fight against bad cholesterol we have many drugs that work, drugs that are statins,
01:58but also now new technologically advanced drugs, such as SIRN and monoclonal antibodies,
02:05which thanks to a subcutaneous injection, cholesterol really goes down a lot without problems to patients.
02:12Although effective and safe therapy is available, poor therapeutic adherence
02:17represents a serious obstacle to a healthy life.
02:20The importance of adherence not only to therapy, but also to lifestyles,
02:27also to follow periodic clinical exams during the year, is very important.
02:36Testimonial of the campaign, the Olympic champion of Canoe Antonio Rossi,
02:40suffered a heart attack in 2021 during a sports competition.
02:43So I had surgery, I put on a stent and from there my care began,
02:47also more attention for blood tests,
02:52especially on some values that are decisive to control for those who have had cardiological problems like me.
