00:00Happy Friday from DOST Pagasa. This is our weather update for March 7, 2025.
00:07The Northeast Monsoon continues to affect a large part of the Northern Luzon.
00:12This will bring cloudy skies with thunderstorms and rain.
00:17Below the wind is the shear line.
00:20This will bring cloudy skies with rain and thunderstorms.
00:29This will bring aurora and keson.
00:31On the other side, it will bring Easter Leaves.
00:35This will affect a large part of Visayas and Mindanao.
00:39In the western part, starting from Palawan, we have cloud blasters.
00:45This will bring cloudy skies and thunderstorms.
00:49In the western part, including Metro Manila, it will bring cloudy skies.
00:54but this is what we call partly cloudy, cloudy skies,
00:59and clear skies where there are still chances of thunderstorms,
01:05although the chance of thunderstorms in Metro Manila is low,
01:08but on the other hand, there is still a possibility of thunderstorms.
01:14We are not monitoring any typhoons inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility
01:19and this is what we expect until next week.
01:22As for our forecast for tomorrow,
01:24the effects of the north-east monsoon will continue,
01:29but it will also dissipate.
01:31After it dissipates, there is still a chance of a monsoon surge
01:36or a north-east monsoon where there is still a possibility of a last rain.
01:43Because it is a shearline,
01:45the eastern part of Luzon will continue to experience
01:48cloudy skies with rain and thunderstorms.
01:52In the western part,
01:54along with Metro Manila,
01:56there are clear skies,
01:58but there is still a possibility of rain and thunderstorms.
02:02The average temperature in Metro Manila is from 24 to 34,
02:06in Baguio it is 17 to 27,
02:09in Lawag it is 23 to 32,
02:11in Tuguegarao it is 24 to 31,
02:14and in Legazpi it is 25 to 30.
02:19In Visayas,
02:20actually this is in Mimaropa,
02:25but let's start here in Palawan.
02:28Because of the cloud cluster we mentioned earlier,
02:30there is still a possibility of continuous rain here in Puerto Princesa
02:35and in Calayaan Island,
02:36and there are chances of thunderstorms.
02:38The average temperature in Puerto Princesa is from 26 to 30,
02:42and in Calayaan Island it is 26 to 32.
02:46There are still clear skies with chances of thunderstorms
02:51here in a large part of Visayas and Mindanao,
02:54but in Cagayan de Oro,
02:58we will continue to experience cloudy skies with chances of thunderstorms.
03:04This can also be affected by what we call Orographic Lifting.
03:10What is Orographic Lifting?
03:11Because there are mountains here,
03:13what we call Dewata Mountains,
03:15so for example,
03:16there are mountains,
03:17and the easterlies will go to the windward side,
03:23and for example,
03:24before the wind goes here,
03:26the clouds brought there will rain here
03:28because they will not easily pass through the mountains.
03:31But the clouds that will pass through there
03:34will not bring rain.
03:36And that is what we call Orographic Lifting or Foehn Effect.
03:40And that is what happens when there are mountains
03:44and this can also be one of the contributing factors
03:49that is why we are expecting rain here in the Carraga region.
03:55The temperature in Davao is 24 to 31,
03:58in Cagayan de Oro it is 24 to 32.
04:01And for our Gale Warning,
04:06we are advising our fellow Filipinos
04:09to be careful especially here in the northern part of Luzon,
04:13specifically in Batanes, Baboyan Island, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.
04:18Our winds can reach up to 4.5 meters,
04:21that is why we should be careful,
04:23especially for those with small vehicles
04:25and fishermen,
04:27we should be careful.
04:30For our 3-Day Weather Outlook,
04:33in Metro Manila,
04:35from March 9 to March 11,
04:37the sky is clear with chances of thunderstorms.
04:41In Baguio, due to the influence of Northeast Luzon,
04:45we are expecting clear skies
04:48and only rain and thunderstorms on Sundays.
04:51But on Mondays and Tuesdays in Baguio,
04:53we are expecting occurrence or chances of thunderstorms.
04:57In Legazpi City,
04:59we are expecting continuous clouds
05:02and thunderstorm activity there.
05:06That is why we should be careful,
05:07especially in flood-prone areas
05:10and landslide-prone areas.
05:12In Metro Cebu and Iloilo City,
05:15we are expecting continuous clear skies
05:19and possibilities of thunderstorms or rains,
05:23especially in the afternoon.
05:25Because of this,
05:26we are also expecting continuous rain and thunderstorms.
05:33In Tacloban City,
05:34we are expecting clear skies on Sundays.
05:38But on Mondays and Tuesdays,
05:40the lower shear line will be affected
05:46and this will bring clouds and thunderstorms.
05:50In Metro Davao,
05:52we are expecting clear skies
05:55and chances of thunderstorms on Sundays.
05:58But on Mondays and Tuesdays,
06:00we are expecting continuous effect of easterlies.
06:04This will bring cloudy skies
06:06and higher chances of rainfall
06:08and occurrences of thunderstorms.
06:11In Cagayan de Oro and in Zamboanga City,
06:13we are expecting continuous clear skies
06:16and possibilities of rain and thunderstorms.
06:21Our sun will set later at 6.05 PM
06:25and will rise again at 6.09 AM tomorrow.
06:30For additional information,
06:32especially for those who are aware of the Heat Index,
06:35we can visit the Pag-asa website
06:38and click on the Weather tab
