00:00Expo 2020 Dubai is a very important opportunity to engage firstly with our friends here in the UAE
00:10but also of course with the great global audience that will be part of Expo 2020. This was something
00:15that was always going to be extremely important for us but in the world that we live in today as
00:20we hopefully come out of pandemic and into better times the chance to re-engage with the world
00:28from this great international hub this great city that is Dubai is something that we were
00:32determined not to miss and we are very much looking forward to engaging in a very positive
00:39a very active way. For us international solidarity is very much the theme of the moment we very much
00:47see this as an opportunity to ensure that the conversations around sustainable economic
00:54recovery this is going to be a tremendous venue coming at a really important time so for us this
01:01is a huge priority. Our theme for the pavilion is very much Ireland the island of inspiration
01:06and this evokes the great Irish tradition of creativity. We will be bringing our visitors
01:13right up to date with modern developments whether in terms of technology allowing them an opportunity
01:19to see Irish creativity in the arts in crafts in food and fashion and so on so it's for us it's
01:25this is a wonderful platform in order to reach a very important audience. What we are reminding
01:33everybody is that our journey of creativity began a very long time ago that our ancestors even 5,000
01:40years ago were doing some wonderful things in terms of looking at the sun and enjoying inspiration
01:47and enjoying learning from that and that tradition is very much part of our DNA it's very much part
01:53of what Ireland is and what Irish people have to offer so we hope that our oculus and that very
02:00interesting design that we have on our pavilion will evoke that and that's something that we are
02:04we're particularly proud of. We were very conscious in designing the pavilion which was done by Irish
02:09architects that we wanted to very much present a fusion a combination of the Irish and the Arab
02:15tradition and so as we talked about the the oculus and the evoking our great historical
02:22sites we were also very conscious that from the Arab point of view the cloistered garden is itself
02:29something that evokes a very strong Arab tradition. These in many ways symbolize represent that
02:38sense of friendship and openness and understanding which marks the relations between the Irish and
02:44the Arab worlds.
