00:00The Philippine Coast Guard is in doubt about the true origin of a Chinese research vessel
00:05that is sailing in the Philippine Ocean.
00:07Even though it followed the protocol,
00:10its movements are well-known and it even has an automatic identification system.
00:15Not only did it enter the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines,
00:18but in a closer place to the ocean, which is called the contiguous zone,
00:23Chino Gaston was spotted.
00:27Even though it followed the protocol of the Innocent Passage,
00:31it responded to the radio challenges of the Philippines
00:34and it quickly and unceasingly sailed northwards.
00:37The Philippine Coast Guard is still in doubt about the true origin of the China Research Vessel Lanhai-101.
00:43From Buntutandau in the BRP Cabra of the PCG,
00:47the research ship is already close to the ocean of Luzon.
00:51It seems that it is doing something different in the so-called contiguous zone of the country.
00:57The contiguous zone is the 24 nautical miles of the ocean from the end of the territorial sea
01:04where there is limited law enforcement power or the coastal state can enforce the law,
01:10just like the Philippines, in accordance with international law.
01:13What is suspicious is that she keeps on the average distance of at least 23 to 24 nautical miles
01:21off the coast of the entire Luzon Island.
01:24It keeps on entering the contiguous zone.
01:27The automatic identification system of the Lanhai-101 was turned off
01:31when it reached Pangasinan and Huling na Mataan,
01:34which is sailing north towards Babuyan Island, which is part of Batanes.
01:39The BRP Cabra returned to Zambales so that the China Coast Guard 3304 can reach Buntutan again.
01:46Meanwhile, another Chinese Coast Guard ship arrived in Bajo de Macinloch earlier.
01:51It was said that it came from China on February 10.
01:54In total, there are four Chinese Coast Guard ships there, including the so-called monster ship CCG 5901.
02:02To counter the increasing incidence of illegal, coercive, and deceptive actions of China,
02:08AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Bronner said,
02:11the AFP plans to add the BrahMos missiles purchased from India
02:16and invite South Korea to join the alliance of the US, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines
02:23that regularly participates in the EEZ of the country.
02:27In addition to this, other military cooperation in other countries,
02:30such as the deployment of ships of the US, Canada, and the Philippines
02:34in the Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity or MMCA inside the EEZ earlier this morning.
