00:00Good day. Welcome to the Gulf News Update for Monday, June the 5th. Here are the top
00:06stories at this hour.
00:07Four Arab states have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of destabilizing the
00:12region. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt all announced they would withdraw their
00:16diplomatic staff from Qatar. Saudi Arabia also said Qatari troops would be pulled from
00:21the ongoing war in Yemen.
00:23The UAE has given Qatar's diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi 48 hours to leave the country
00:28over Doha's several policies which destabilize the security and stability of the region and
00:33manipulate the commitments.
00:35All four states said they planned to cut air and sea traffic, while Saudi Arabia said it
00:39would also shut its land border with Qatar. Saudi Arabia said it took the decision to
00:44cut diplomatic ties due to Qatar's embrace of various terrorist and sectarian groups
00:49aimed at destabilizing the region, including the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda, Daesh and
00:55other groups supported by Iran in the kingdom's eastern province of Qatar.
01:00British police have made several arrests today in two dawn raids following the London attack.
01:05Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack, which left seven people dead.
01:09Ariana Grande, meanwhile, held a benefit concert in Manchester on Sunday night to honour those
01:14who died due to the attack at her May 22 concert. The concert also featured some of the biggest
01:20names in music, including Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Liam Gallagher.
01:25Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli said he felt like an amateur next to teammate Yuvraj
01:30Singh in yesterday's 124-run victory over Pakistan in Champions Trophy.
01:35Yuvraj's 53-off, 32 balls enhanced his reputation as one of the best cricket players.
01:42And finally, weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 39 degrees Celsius, dropping
01:47to 28 degrees at night.
