00:00And welcome back to AccuWeather Early, thanks for watching on this Tuesday morning.
00:08We do appreciate you being here and hopefully the morning has been safe for you as we've
00:11been watching a lot of snow squalls and areas of some dense fog.
00:15Yeah, dense fog in the southeast, snow squalls in the northeast as we've been tracking this
00:19cold front pressing eastward here this morning, dumped a quick couple of inches of snow across
00:25central and western New York State.
00:27Now behind that front the sun is out, pretty cold though right now, gusty winds have been
00:34accompanying this front, but the wind has calmed down a little bit here in Syracuse
00:38out ahead of the next storm later tonight.
00:40Yep, don't hold your breath too long, we're going to see another one, you can see so many
00:43crews and roads out there.
00:44I always love this shot, the bright blue sky with the dark red there of the brick buildings
00:49looks pretty out there, but yeah that 20 degrees, not all that friendly.
00:53Yeah, the current radar here is we did see those snow squall warnings earlier this morning,
00:58still some snow showers falling on down across Pennsylvania and southern New England at this
01:02hour and we had some higher amounts, more of some lake enhancement outside of the Watertown
01:06area this from yesterday mostly.
01:09So from a few inches this morning to a foot of snow over the last 24 hours in the rain
01:14New York, Adams and Martinsburg about 4 to 8 inches of snow, so it's just going to be
01:18a repeat in a lot of these areas with the snow starting to pile on up.
01:23It was windy yesterday too, wind gusts 55 mph in Dunkirk, Buffalo 63 mph wind gusts
01:29and a lot of the blowing snow, even if the snow wasn't falling, just some of the snow
01:35pack there blowing around with these powerful winds and still rather gusty out there at
01:39this hour.
01:40Portland, 26 mph winds, speaking of the wind, there you go, you can hear it in Buffalo and
01:44see it.
01:4525 mph winds gusting in Burlington and it's gusty in Pittsburgh with winds at 24 mph.
01:50Yeah, that's the blowing snow there dealing with the plows to are making their way through.
01:55Of course, experts there in Buffalo with the wind.
01:59It's also cold out there.
02:01Accurate, the real field temperatures into the single digits at times, so adding additional
02:05layers and checking that number before you go out the door is a great idea.
02:10Temperatures stay near the historical average in Pittsburgh in New York City today, but
02:14below that in Burlington of Portland, 16 is the current or the temperature by this afternoon.
02:20DC down to Virginia Beach.
02:21It stays rather mild for a late January day with highs near 50 degrees taking you into
02:27the future where the next couple of hours were snow free for most of us will start to
02:31see those snow showers, though we're turning into Buffalo by this afternoon and this evening
02:36and then pushing east as we head into tonight, making its way across New England as we head
02:41into early tomorrow morning.
02:43So a lot of the same areas that we were dealing with the snow squalls this morning across
02:47Pennsylvania and New York.
02:48We could be dealing with that again tomorrow morning.
02:50So if you got to work safely, if you were very ahead with the weather, do the same thing.
02:54Hopefully that was using the AccuWeather app or checking in with us here as we'll continue
02:58to watch some slippery spots, reduce visibility and certainly leading to some travel disruptions.
03:04Looking at snowfall accumulations here and all is said and done from snow tonight through
03:08Wednesday night.
03:09We'll see some areas across western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania and downwind
03:13of Lake Ontario where we get closer to the 6 to even 12 inches of snow falling through
03:21tonight into tomorrow night and some elevation more based here across the Green and White
03:24Mountains.
03:25More like 3 to 6 Pittsburgh, about an inch or so, and then we take it into Boston where
03:29we could get an inch to three inches of snow.
03:32The next couple of days will have quite a roller coaster ride of temperatures.
03:36It stays cold in Burlington, but we'll come up a little bit tomorrow at 24 back to 18
03:40on Thursday and then up to 38 on Friday, Boston 42 on Wednesday, 26 on Thursday and
03:46then 44 on Friday.
03:47So we're all over the place here and as we can check several different storms moving
03:52across the Northeast.
