00:00Good afternoon Sadler's fans, I'm inside what was a very cold Beskot but thanks to the ground
00:08staff, the surface survived the freezing conditions to put on what was some fantastic lunchtime
00:17entertainment and Walsall did not freeze under the pressure of setting a club record eight
00:22consecutive league wins as they cruised to a 5-1 victory over Tranmere Rovers. Matt Sadler
00:29made three changes from the New Year's Day victory over Notts County as Jamil Matt came
00:36in alongside Taylor Allen and Osher McEntee who made his first league start since August
00:42the 31st and Walsall made a very bright start and they then capped that with the opening
00:48goal in 14 minutes. Jamil Matt at the back post towered above his marker to cushion Taylor
00:54Allen's cross into the far corner with a clinical header and seven minutes later Walsall
01:00were two ahead. Taylor Allen worked the corner short to collect his second assist in quick
01:05succession and Brian Sturck drove a long-range effort from distance into the far bottom corner
01:12and Walsall were very impressive in that first half and dominated proceedings and things
01:19went from bad to worse for Tranmere when Finlay was shown his second yellow card for
01:25grubbing the ball as Jamie Jealous threatened to break away but with ten men Tranmere did
01:31half the deficit on the cusp of halftime. Connor Jennings drove the ball past Tommy Simpkin and
01:37hauled Tranmere back into the contest but it proved that that was only a brief reprieve. Jamil
01:46Matt with his second of the afternoon four minutes after the restart. Fantastic run from Liam Gordon
01:52down the left-hand side brought down Taylor Allen's floated ball, danced and twisted and turned to
01:58turn former Sadler's man Norman inside out. The scoop cross found McKenty but he was unable to
02:06get enough purchase on the header but Jamil Matt was there inside the box as he pounced to convert
02:11from close range and Walsall then added to the row. Jamie Jealous released by Nathan Lowe, he then
02:20broke into the box, checked onto his left foot and fired past Luke McGee at his near post and Lowe
02:27then scored himself to add to his tally. That's now 18 for the season in all competitions, 15 in
02:35the league. Albert Adoma came off the bench, he broke down the right, squared four low to finish.
02:41So Walsall 15 now unbeaten in the league, like I said a club record eighth consecutive
02:48league win and before the three o'clock kickoff it's now 13 points clear at the summit.
