00:00We are two days out from game day in the NFL postseason, a doubleheader that kicks off the opening round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday.
00:09But for DRS, a lot of teams around the National Football League, the offseason is already underway.
00:15And for six teams currently in the National Football League, looking for a new head coach with a vacant head coaching position.
00:23Which made this report yesterday afternoon incredibly intriguing.
00:28From NFL Networks, Tom Pellicero.
00:31Multiple NFL teams have inquired about whether legendary coach Bill Belichick,
00:37yep, the same guy that is North Carolina's football head coach,
00:41would reconsider his move to CFB, including the Raiders,
00:45whose new minority owner, Tom Brady, spoke recently with his old coach.
00:51DRS, when you saw that tweet around noon eastern time yesterday afternoon,
00:56you had just logged off the Moneyline, I had just started things on Football Full Circle,
01:01we were done together on the early line, so you're sitting there, you see that, what's your first thought?
01:06I'm just puzzled by everything going around Bill Belichick.
01:10I was shocked he actually didn't get a job last year, but you figured he would just sit it out,
01:13there's going to be six, seven, eight coaching jobs opening, people are going to beat down the doors,
01:17just like they did, hey, Vrabel's not a hot candidate last year, now he's a super hot candidate.
01:21You knew this was coming around.
01:22And also, is he just in a position that goes, you know what, I'm older now, let me be a dad,
01:28my son, I want to get his foot in the door, I can guarantee I'll get this job at Carolina,
01:32I'll dip out after a year or two, my son's going to get that job.
01:35Because that looks like what it is at this point right now to me, to be honest.
01:38Because why would he go to North Carolina knowing that multiple head coaching jobs could be his
01:43in the next year that he could resurrect and get back in the NFL game, which he wanted to do,
01:47and then take a job at Carolina with some mysterious $10 million buyout goes to $1 million,
01:52so I'll get this job, I'll get him going on the right track, I'll hand it off to my son,
01:56then I'll dip back to the NFL the next year.
01:58But here's what I do want to happen here.
01:59I would love to see this.
02:00I would love to see the full court press where I let you say the Raiders and Tom Brady
02:04and him lead Carolina, and we can all laugh at North Carolina going, man, we just got worked over,
02:08only to see North Carolina go, OK, that was real funny.
02:11Now your entire staff is fired, including your son,
02:14and we're back on the men looking for another head coach.
02:16This just has stink written all over it, because Belichick's going to be a five-year guy
02:21and just retire at Carolina?
02:22That's not happening.
02:23So was the ulterior motive like, you know what, let me exert my influence to get my son a job
02:27and dip out and just see him take over?
02:29Was that really what it was all about?
02:30Seems like it.
02:32So many angles to break this down from.
02:35The NFL perspective, would any of the six organizations looking for a new head man
02:40even want Bill Belichick?
02:42Is that why he had to go the college route to begin with?
02:45Because the opportunity around the National Football League,
02:48not actually all that available for a guy that needs full control,
02:53it would seem, based on his track record of a franchise.
02:57What would it mean for North Carolina?
02:59What would it mean for his son, Steve Belichick, and the staff in Chapel Hill?
03:03All of that in just a moment.
03:05But Donnie, this story lost a little bit of luster.
03:08I was really excited to break it down with you as that report came out yesterday afternoon
03:13on this Thursday after this report from the Athletics' Diana Rossini,
03:18only of the Athletic.
03:20Bill Belichick has no plans to return to the NFL, per sources.
03:25I'm told his sole focus is on coaching and recruiting for North Carolina
03:29as he continues building the Tar Heels' future.
03:32He's recruiting today in New Jersey.
03:35They did get a UConn transfer, a big-time defensive lineman,
03:39to make his way to Chapel Hill, and a commitment in the last 24 hours.
03:44So that's good news.
03:45We saw Belichick out on the road with his son and new defensive coordinator, Steve,
03:49earlier this week as well.
03:51But, Donnie, before we even talk about the plausibility of either of these reports,
03:56if any of the head coaching vacancies would even want Bill,
04:00what it might mean for his reputation, UNC, all of that,
04:04my number one question to this reporting right here, right now, is why?
04:09Who does it benefit?
04:11The NFL teams that are inquiring about Bill Belichick?
04:14Belichick and his representation to try to build some luster back
04:19for his coaching acumen and resume?
04:22And why now?
04:23We already had three head coaching vacancies throughout the regular season.
04:27They had a pretty good idea of not if, but when, or not when,
04:32but if some jobs were going to open up.
04:35And Belichick, with all of his ties to the National Football League,
04:38certainly is in those circles where he could at least inquire
04:41to see if there was a chance an organization like the Raiders
04:44would move on at some point this offseason,
04:47or the Jaguars would fire Doug Peterson.
04:50So who does this benefit?
04:52Either the Pellicero report or even the contradiction from Roussini.
04:57Frankly, I don't think it's a good look on either side,
05:00and I don't understand the timeline of this reporting.
05:04No, we're here also.
05:05With Diana Roussini, imagine if she came back and said,
05:07hey, just talk to Bill Belichick.
05:08He can't wait to get out of Carolina.
05:09He is open for business in the NFL.
05:11Of course it's going to say that doesn't want to go anywhere
05:13because nobody would go there as a recruit,
05:15even though other schools are actively doing that,
05:17saying he ain't going to be there for more than two years.
05:19Why would you go?
05:20That is an uphill hurdle.
05:21But also understand this.
05:22Whose fault is this?
05:24It's Bill Belichick's and it's Carolina's.
05:26Well, why would that be?
05:27You know what he should have done?
05:28I want a $100 million buyout over the next four years if I leave this institution.
05:32I want you to be able to bankrupt me.
05:34That shows how much I want to be the head coach at North Carolina.
05:37But you know what he did?
05:38Well, if I have cold feet here, I want to make sure that I'm in it
05:41at least for one year.
05:42So put that at $10 million.
05:43But the minute we get to the summer, it's $1 million,
05:45meaning I can leave at any time I want if I want to do that.
05:49Again, a strong buyout would have had nobody asking questions going like,
05:52he's got an ironclad basically prenup here.
05:54He can't get out of this for three years.
05:56So stop calling.
05:57Why are NFL teams calling?
05:59Because they know he eventually wants to be an NFL coach again,
06:01which is why it's a $1 million buyout next summer.
06:05That's ridiculous.
06:06He brought it on himself, and it's right to ask these questions.
06:08Hey, Bill, do you want to go back to the NFL?
06:10No, I don't.
06:11Hey, Bill, why do you have a $1 million buyout that drops by $9 million
06:14in just a couple months?
06:15Because you want to go back to the NFL?
06:17Ask that question here.
06:18That's what doesn't make sense.
06:19And so that's a key component of this because last month,
06:23now just a few weeks ago,
06:25when Bill Belichick was introduced in his opening press conference in Chapel
06:29Hill, he was asked those questions.
06:31Are you here for a short time?
06:33Are you interested in the NFL?
06:35What is your plan in place?
06:37And of course, Belichick said the right things.
06:39I'm committed to Carolina.
06:40I wanted to be here.
06:42I chose to be here.
06:43But after the news conference came the contract details.
06:46North Carolina is a public school.
06:48You can get that information readily available.
06:51And a very intriguing buyout, June 1st,
06:542025 being that all important date.
06:57And Donnie, it was the end of 2024,
06:59and it was still the 2024 college football season,
07:02and 2025 is college football season on the horizon.
07:05So I think dates were a little bit confusing at first.
07:08People said June 1st, 2025.
07:10So that's like two summers from now, right?
07:13After his first season at North Carolina?
07:16No, it's before he even were to coach a game for the Tar Heels.
07:21June 1st, 2025 is now just in a few months.
07:25If Belichick were to leave UNC prior to that date,
07:29North Carolina is owed $10 million.
07:31After June 1st, it's only a mil.
07:35And I'm not going to say an NFL team is going to wait until June 2nd to
07:39hire Bill Belichick,
07:40but it is worth noting because it did not give the idea of Bill Belichick is
07:45here for the longterm to build Carolina football into a powerhouse.
07:49Exactly.
07:50And that's why we're all having the issues and we can see what it is.
07:53And understand this,
07:54if he never brought his son where we got a leaked caveat that I'm taking this
07:58job, so my son has a head coaching job when I leave.
08:01Great move by a father.
08:02That shows a lot of love for his son.
08:03I'm going to exert my influence to make sure you're going to be employed once
08:07I'm done with football, as opposed to just picking up the phone.
08:09It's crazy.
08:10So we have all that incentive to say, why does he want this job?
08:13And he said, well, he's a good dad.
08:14He wants to place his son.
08:15And then once he leaves in a year and a half,
08:17we'll go right back to the NFL.
08:19But I do think it's funny that if he just would have not taken the job at
08:22Carolina, like, as I said, like there's,
08:24let's just say six to seven jobs open.
08:26You're going to hear a lot of names.
08:27Like who is this guy and how did he get this job where Bill Belichick would
08:30have been inserted right back into the NFL.
08:32It's interesting that he went this route,
08:34but it's great for content of while we're talking about saying like, yeah,
08:37he's going to college for one year and he'll be back in the pros the next
08:40year.
08:41So let me ask quickly here, DRS, as we come up on the break,
08:44it sounds like you actually put validity into the idea that multiple NFL
08:47teams did in fact reach out to Bill Belichick.
08:50Oh yeah.
08:51Not, not a question.
08:52I mean,
08:53we're reaching out to Mike McCarthy when, you know, he's a lame duck.
08:55We're reaching out to coaches that have no business, like, you know,
08:58multiple assistant coaches just getting calls.
09:01He's of course going to get a call.
09:03Carousel spins and spins more around the NFL.
09:06The news and notes around the national football league,
09:09some coaching carousel, some off season reports.
09:12And of course, as we get ready for the start of the NFL playoffs,
09:16just two days out from now on a Saturday with a double header,
09:21we got to get you everything you need.
09:23And for those teams,
09:24DRS playing on a normal Sunday slate Wednesday is the opening day of
09:29practice.
09:30And it was big news yesterday for a couple of quarterbacks.
09:33Again, we'll talk about that in just a moment, a reminder,
09:37obviously you've been paying attention to the news.
09:39I'm sure you have seen the devastating images from around Los Angeles,
09:43numerous wildfires continue to burn in the greater LA area.
09:48It is very sad for everybody.
09:50I am from that area.
09:52My parents' house,
09:53the house I grew up in remains under an evacuation warning.
09:57It is a trying time in the city of angels,
10:00a catastrophic wildfire destruction.
10:02We have not seen in terms of structures in the history of LA,
10:06basically.
10:07So for a game scheduled DRS on Monday night between the Rams and the
10:11Vikings inside SoFi stadium to end out wild card weekend,
10:15the NFL is making its early preparations.
10:18If necessary,
10:19the game between the Vikes and the Rams would be moved to Arizona.
10:23That's still a long way away.
10:25I really,
10:26really fear if this game needs to be moved because of what that means
10:30for the catastrophic and tragic destruction that would still be continuing
10:34around LA and the logistical nightmare that would create.
10:38I hope it does not have to be moved,
10:40but a contingency plan has been put in place by the NFL.
10:43I had to be done.
10:44And it's a smart move by the NFL,
10:46because as we say,
10:47the games must go on.
10:48They're not going to delay an NFL game,
10:50a playoff game away.
10:51Because that would mess up the structure as callous as that sounds.
10:54It's just the way it works.
10:55So moving to Arizona or Vegas,
10:57which I thought would be a viable option.
10:59They're going to look to do that and understand this because we're not
11:02calling for.
11:03Well,
11:04yeah,
11:05Inglewood's going to be on fire and the stadium is going to burn down.
11:07That's why they can't play it there.
11:08You're talking about everything around it.
11:10The resources,
11:11the fire department,
11:12the police department,
11:13public resources are all spent fighting this fire,
11:15which usually on a game day in Los Angeles would have to be diverted to
11:19another place.
11:20That's going to get 75 to 80,000 people.
11:22And also understand this as we brought up to start the show,
11:25it's not a dome.
11:26It's like,
11:27Hey,
11:28we'll just filter the air.
11:29It's an open ended stadium,
11:30which means days and days,
11:31maybe weeks after this fire is done burning and still smoldering.
11:34The smell in the air is enough to choke you where you just can't play that
11:38football game or bring fans into the stadium to do that.
11:41So right now,
11:42look,
11:43odds meant I like to be,
11:44is it 50,
11:4550?
11:46They move,
11:47but it's good to see a viable option.
11:48If there's anything hanging around where it's even a question,
11:51the game needs to be moved just for the safety of the team,
11:55the players and the fans alike at this point and also the public
11:58officials.
11:59Yeah,
12:00absolutely.
12:01So,
12:02and again,
12:03to Donnie's point,
12:04it's not that the fire is in the line of SoFi stadium about to burn
12:07down with the Rams in the chargers play.
12:09It's not actually all that close to that,
12:11where these fires are at the moment.
12:14It's because of all the logistics of tired,
12:16first responders that have been battling wildfires to keep people's homes
12:20upright to the best they can in a logistical nightmare.
12:24Traffic would create in an already very congested city in Los Angeles.
12:29We hope it does not have to be moved.
12:31There is still some time till Monday,
12:33but of course the contingency plan is in place now to the actual football.
12:38Before we do that,
12:39though,
12:40again,
12:41a reminder,
12:42to all of our fans,
12:43to all of our thoughts,
12:44to everybody affected by this tragedy,
12:46by the wildfires in the LA area,
12:48as we are on Spectrum Sportsnet LA.
12:50So our hearts are with all of you back to the football in the news for the
12:54post-season and the guys available to play in games.
12:58Dr.
12:59Donnie is always on it soon.
13:01We're going to have to give him like a fake MD that he can put up in the
13:05background there,
13:06maybe right under the DRS that looks like his medical certificate,
13:10because he knows how to diagnose hamstrings,
13:13calf injuries,
13:14and now also understands concussion protocol better than most.
13:20Donnie told you yesterday,
13:21the reason Jalen hurts had not been cleared just yet because he didn't have
13:25to practice in the final stage to emerge out of the protocol is being cleared
13:29to practice.
13:30Who was on the practice field cleared to practice yesterday out of the
13:34protocol,
13:35the Eagle starting signal caller Jalen hurts.
13:38Yep.
13:39Back in good form here,
13:40getting a couple of weeks off and slow playing.
13:42And thank goodness that the Eagles had a chance in week 18,
13:45where they'd have to rush him back and force him on the football field or
13:48force him back to that game against Washington.
13:50They took the approach where we're going to be patient and see what works.
13:53And from all intents and purposes at Eagles practice,
13:55even according to Lane Johnson, the energy was there.
13:57He looked sharp.
13:58He's ready to go.
13:59You saw the videos,
14:00which they allowed the press and they're usually for the first 10 or 15
14:02minutes of practice.
14:03So underway now,
14:04granted you are still theoretically in the concussion protocol.
14:07Why?
14:08Because they have to monitor you after you get workouts in,
14:10but it looks like no worse for the wear last night.
14:12Didn't hear any stories this morning that it affected them all that much.
14:15And he's been around the football team.
14:16It's not as if they brought him back after two weeks,
14:18like out of a dark room.
14:19Hey, is everything?
14:20Okay.
14:21Hopefully you can get back out here.
14:22He's been progressing through the stages all along.
14:24The final hurdle was getting back on the practice field.
14:26So it looks like the Philadelphia Eagles all 11 on offense going to be
14:29there on Sunday.
14:31Yeah, no doubt about it.
14:32Drs.
14:33We asked would that line move at all for the matchup between the birds
14:36and the Packers?
14:37If Jalen hurts was back on the practice field yesterday afternoon,
14:41the answer that dr.
14:42Donnie also told you,
14:43no,
14:44that was the expected line with hurts in the lineup.
14:47It is still a four and a half point number in favor of Philly at home,
14:51but quarterback questions,
14:52I guess on the other side of the matchup,
14:54Jordan Love exited the regular season finale in the opening half with a
14:58right elbow contusion.
15:00He has said he should be good to go,
15:02but yesterday use the word quote,
15:05hopeful.
15:06He'll play on Sunday.
15:08Donnie is Jordan.
15:09Love going to be out there for Green Bay.
15:11Yeah,
15:12he is going to be out there,
15:13but he used to be back in the day.
15:14Like even court,
15:15like,
15:16like Brett Favre would snap his thumb in half and be like,
15:17what's the issue?
15:18I'm definitely playing this week.
15:19It's interesting that a quarterback is now saying like,
15:21I don't know if I'm going to play knowing he's going to play.
15:23Typically you hide every single injury and be like,
15:25I can't feel my arm right now.
15:27And you go,
15:28what do you credit me?
15:29I'm going to go out there and throw for 350 yards this week.
15:30And my arm feels fantastic.
15:31The gamesmanship between these two teams is hilarious.
15:34But the best part is nobody's buying any of it right now.
15:37We know they're both going to show up on Sunday.
15:39We expect a good football game out of both of them.
15:41Yes,
15:42we certainly do.
15:43Still a four and a half point spread.
15:45The market has not moved.
15:46The total stands at 45 and a hug.
15:49Dr.
15:50Donnie,
15:51also because four becomes forecaster,
15:52Donnie,
15:53the RS,
15:54how far are you from the link from Lincoln financial field?
15:56I'm farther than I was before.
15:58I would say right now,
15:59if I got in my car,
16:00it's probably a good half hour.
16:01All right,
16:02but still pretty close to where the action is going to take place in
16:05Philadelphia.
16:06Super cold this week in the East coast,
16:09but DRS,
16:10what's the weather looking like for Sunday?
16:1236 degrees,
16:14no wind,
16:15no rain.
16:16Let's get it on people.
16:17Don't worry about your prop bets going under because there's bad weather.
16:20It's going to be as good as you can get in January in South Philadelphia.
16:23We'll talk more NFL headlines and a new market opening up.
16:28So the news and notes from a quarterback perspective for the start of the NFL
16:32post-season,
16:33but for teams already in the off season,
16:35it's putting the plans in place for their franchises future.
16:39And that might be the face of the franchise at the quarterback spot year
16:43number three,
16:44four Brock Purdy.
16:45Now in the books,
16:46he is eligible to receive a contract extension.
16:49What a discount.
16:50The 49ers have gotten pretty at the first three years of his NFL career as
16:55he was Mr.
16:56Irrelevant.
16:57The final pick of the 2022 NFL draft playing on that shorter salary.
17:02Well,
17:03now it's time to pay the Piper,
17:05but will San Francisco do?
17:07So some interesting reports,
17:09Donnie at the end of the year,
17:11obviously a disappointing season,
17:13a failure of a season by the Bay for San Francisco about the nerve damage
17:19continuously for Brock Purdy.
17:21After the elbow injury,
17:23suffered in the NFC championship game.
17:25Now,
17:26over two years ago,
17:28here was the general manager for the 49ers organization,
17:32John Lynch,
17:33about the future for Purdy and his contract moving forward.
17:36Well,
17:37listen,
17:38I think what we know about Brock is that he's our guy.
17:40We've got,
17:41you know,
17:42we have interest in Brock being around here for,
17:44for a long,
17:45long time.
17:46And he's done so much for our organization.
17:47He's won big games and you know,
17:52had a little tougher task as we all did this year with some of the things
17:54that happened throughout the course of the year.
17:56We just never constrained games where we were all together.
17:58And through that,
18:00he continued to lead.
18:01He continued to play at a high level.
18:03So we have every interest in him being around.
18:07Whether from a financial perspective,
18:09DRS for Purdy or at times,
18:11is he a game manager?
18:12Does he really elevate Kyle Shanahan's offensive scheme?
18:15Is he just a merchant with a bunch of talented guys all around him?
18:20I mean,
18:21there's been a lot of conversation about,
18:22about Brock Purdy.
18:23What did you make of what John Lynch had to say?
18:25And what do you ultimately believe San Francisco is going to do with
18:28Purdy this off season and moving forward?
18:31I believe what John Lynch is saying.
18:32And he has to say that Brock Purdy is a quality NFL starting quarterback.
18:36Nobody's going to deny it.
18:37Like the kid can play football.
18:38We understand that,
18:39but also this is a business.
18:41And if we're out here believing that Brock Purdy,
18:43when you watch Brock Purdy,
18:44and maybe it's not right,
18:45but it's just my opinion.
18:46Does that tell you like,
18:47you know what?
18:48This guy should reset the market to be the highest paid player in the
18:50history of the NFL.
18:51No,
18:52it does not.
18:53And maybe he does get a little bit of,
18:54well,
18:55he's surrounded by so much talent,
18:56a great play caller.
18:57That's not his fault.
18:58He's finding himself in that spot.
18:59Why didn't Trey Lance work out then?
19:00Why didn't,
19:01you know,
19:02you know,
19:03guys from the past couple of years where they were just running out
19:04with losing records at San Francisco and years that they were injured
19:07like the Mullins,
19:08right at quarterback.
19:09It's like,
19:10come on,
19:11that's not going to work.
19:12But for my money,
19:13you have to be a smart businessman.
19:14And if he is unhappy with the contract,
19:15they're going to present.
19:16It's simple to do.
19:17Do you remember what the Raven said?
19:18Now,
19:19granted the Ravens run franchise tags,
19:20which isn't going to be in effect this year for Brock party,
19:23since he's under contract for one more year,
19:24but the Ravens basically told him,
19:26we will write you whatever check you want.
19:28As long as it's available for the rest of the NFL,
19:31you bring us a contract that would pay you $50 million more a year than
19:35the Sean Watson.
19:36We're going to match that,
19:37but we don't think it's out there.
19:39We want to make you the highest paid quarterback out here and pay you a
19:42large sum,
19:43but we're not going to bid against ourselves.
19:45That's how long it takes to got that contract there.
19:47Once Jalen hurts,
19:48start the sign and Lamar Jackson sort of fell in line.
19:50You need to do the same thing with Brock party because I'm not calling him
19:53Daniel Jones.
19:54He's a better quarterback than Daniel Jones,
19:56but we laughed at the giants.
19:57When most fans that were in the right state of mind,
20:00let him test free agency,
20:02let him go out there and bring you a contract back.
20:05Can we save money,
20:06Daniel Jones?
20:07We want you back,
20:08but we want you back at the right price.
20:09They didn't do that.
20:10Nobody's going to offer him a dollar.
20:11They paid him 40 million.
20:13So the same thing without hurting feelings for Brock party.
20:15Hey,
20:16look,
20:17you go out there.
20:18What would you say?
20:19We were on the trading block,
20:20find a deal that we're not going to match.
20:21We'll trade.
20:22You will get picks back and you have a great time,
20:24whatever place you go,
20:25but understand this.
20:26We're not giving you $60 million a year when there's nobody even bidding
20:3025 million for your services.
20:32How about that?
20:34Yeah,
20:35it's really interesting DRS because we have seen the inflation in the
20:38quarterback market.
20:39Trevor Lawrence earned a $55 million per year annual average salary that
20:44at the time made him the highest paid quarterback in the NFL alongside
20:48Joe Burrow and others.
20:50And Jordan love,
20:51I believe included as well.
20:53The Dak Prescott reset that a $60 million deal at the tail end of the
20:58off season,
20:59right before the regular season was about to begin.
21:02Is Brock pretty going to get 40 mil 35 mil?
21:06Is he worth $50 million for San Francisco?
21:09You're going to have to pay him a lot,
21:12which means you can't pay the other guys on your roster nearly as much.
21:17There was some conversation.
21:18Would they cut Debo Samuel to ease their financial burden?
21:22Not the plan.
21:23Accordingly in San Francisco,
21:25maybe Javon Hargrave,
21:27one of the better interior defensive linemen in the NFL,
21:30a lot to figure out for San Francisco after a disastrous season with a
21:35peculiar off season,
21:36entering 2025 ahead.
21:39We get ready to go all around the national football league and our favorite
21:43game.
21:44It is by herself.
21:45One hour,
21:46two.
21:47We welcome you to our number two live right here on the early line on
21:50sports grid.
21:51It is game day.
21:52Once again in college football,
21:55the college football playoff,
21:56the first ever time in the 12 team era,
21:59a historic Thursday night,
22:01the college football playoff semifinal in Miami.
22:04It's the orange ball between two powerhouse and blue blood programs in this
22:08sport,
22:09both seeking their first national championship in nearly four decades.
22:14It's the six seed Penn state in the seven seed,
22:16Notre Dame squaring off tonight in South Florida,
22:19a preview of the orange ball later on in this second hour,
22:23the IRS.
22:24Did you,
22:25did you check the rundown today?
22:26Did you see who's joining us in our third and final,
22:28by the way?
22:29Yeah,
22:30it's going to be exciting here.
22:31We'll see what he's concocting.
22:32We'll see if we have any crypto smashes tonight.
22:34And I guarantee you this.
22:36If you're looking at players for profits to take all it's overs,
22:39change your mind here.
22:40We're not going to look at the top wide receivers,
22:42the top running backs,
22:43the top quarterbacks.
22:44You're going to get probably player information.
22:46You never heard of for a guy to have 60 plus rushing yards and multiple
22:49touchdowns when they haven't done that all season long,
22:51get ready people.
22:53But I will say that's what makes Jolie see the mastermind of the college
22:57football pigskin.
22:58Great.
22:59And despite what Donnie might say,
23:01they really are best friends.
23:03I don't get to work with them together.
23:05Often.
23:06I'm excited.
23:07I'm going to get a few good chuckles in because nobody better than DRS
23:12at ribbing anybody he is friends with,
23:15but especially Lacey guy,
23:17DRS.
23:18We are also now just two days away from the start of the NFL postseason.
23:21The opening round kicks off on Saturday with a double header in the AFC
23:26three games on Sunday,
23:28a Monday night cap as well.
23:30I don't know if you saw this yesterday,
23:32Donnie,
23:33as a man that has a lot of thoughts about many things,
23:35about how leagues are run scheduling,
23:38all of that that goes into it.
23:40Did you see that?
23:41The NFL has sneakily removed super from wild card.
23:46Again,
23:47after they instilled super wild card weekend,
23:50just a few seasons back when the NFL postseason expanded,
23:54it's just starting to buy into super wild card weekend.
23:57Cause it does make some sense.
23:59And it sounds bigger than just wild card weekend.
24:01Like super wild card weekend has the like super bowl Monica.
24:05Like what a big weekend it's going to be.
24:06I feel if we just go back to wild card weekend,
24:08it's going to feel like,
24:09you know,
24:10the wives and the girlfriends out there,
24:11like you're only missing wild card weekend.
24:12Like,
24:13no babe,
24:14it's super wild card weekend.
24:15You know what?
24:16I'll go to home Depot and I'll go to bed,
24:17bath and beyond all by myself.
24:18You stay home.
24:19Cause how big this weekend is.
24:20I think they might be doing us a disservice on the home front here.
24:23Really,
24:24really good point.
24:25DRS.
24:26I think that is very fair.
24:27Anytime you add super to anything,
24:29it does make it sound super more super DRS.
24:33Amazing.
24:34Yeah.
24:35Super Ben Stevens.
24:36I mean,
24:37it just sounds better like that,
24:38by the way,
24:39it actually like made me feel good.
24:40And I'm super Ben Stevens.
24:42If you change your Twitter handle to super Ben Stevens,
24:45like that's your new thing.
24:46Like you see Donnie right side.
24:47But again,
24:48I like to say when I came to this company here,
24:50Hey,
24:51look,
24:52everybody has like their regular name.
24:53How about me?
24:54No,
24:55that's fine.
24:56You'll never know exactly what that S stands for.
24:58Is it side or something?
25:00You know,
25:02what's funny too.
25:03When Donnie and I first started working together,
25:05even when we weren't on the same show,
25:06when there was the early line and the morning after there would be a
25:09changeover in studio.
25:11So Donnie would have to close out the show.
25:13And every time he would introduce me,
25:15I don't know if it's just because he loved my Twitter handle or he
25:18really thought I cared about having my middle name included.
25:21It was always coming up on the morning after Ben Scott.
25:25Ben Scott Stevens.
25:27I still don't know DRS.
25:29If it was just like a little high brown,
25:31like wearing quarter zips,
25:33you know,
25:34over jackets.
25:35Like maybe if I never saw him before,
25:36like Ben Scott Stevens,
25:37I wonder what he actually looks like and what he wears to work at this
25:39point.
25:40Probably would have been something different.
25:41By the way,
25:42were you wearing coats back then when you were Ben's,
25:43when I was introduced to his Ben Scott Stevens on the morning after
25:45turtlenecks.
25:46Wow.
25:47Downs.
25:48Oh,
25:49variety of fun things.
25:50Now everyone go for it.
25:52He really did.
25:53We had to be professional because of one player here at the studios.
25:55Come on now.
25:56My goodness.
25:57That's one Bella Donna shirt.
25:58That's what it will do.
25:59One,
26:00two men going all.
26:01Yeah.
26:02One too many.
26:03Indeed.
26:04All right,
26:05let's dive in to buy or sell around the national football league.
26:07We talked super wildcard weekend.
26:09Now time to talk to super bowl favorites around the national football
26:13league.
26:14The two teams that have earned the buy in the one seat in either
26:17conference,
26:18the chiefs rinse and repeat in the AFC for the first time in franchise
26:22history,
26:23the lions,
26:24the one seed in the NFC,
26:26both teams,
26:2715 and two this year,
26:28both short favorites to win their conference crowns,
26:31but you will see the lions,
26:33a shorter price to win super bowl 59.
26:36I have said it once.
26:37I will say it again.
26:38Detroit has never even played in a super bowl and organization
26:42history,
26:43let alone one,
26:44a Lombardi trophy,
26:45but buy or sell to you DRS.
26:47The question is this,
26:49the lions are a safer bet than the chiefs to make,
26:53not win,
26:54but to make the super bowl salad.
26:58I'm selling it right now.
26:59It has nothing to do with the Detroit lines and how good they are.
27:02And they are the favorites to get to the super bowl,
27:04but we're asking them,
27:05are there a safer bet to get there than the Kansas city chiefs?
27:08And Ben hit the nail on the head already.
27:09It's like,
27:10yeah,
27:11you know what?
27:12Detroit nine,
27:13our last 10 years,
27:14NFC championship games,
27:15multiple,
27:16no,
27:17none,
27:18you know,
27:19how many times we all talk about them?
27:20Like,
27:21Hey,
27:22they're going to go over and play a game in the UK.
27:23It's like,
27:24well,
27:25the Jaguars are always there.
27:26They have the advantage.
27:27They know the flight schedule.
27:28They know the practice fields.
27:29They're used to eating the food.
27:30They're used to staying at the same hotels from a team that never does it
27:32before.
27:33Like Detroit's an uncharted water saying,
27:34you know what?
27:35Where you see the little engine that could getting hammered on
27:37Thanksgiving day is their only big game of the year to now saying,
27:39Oh wait,
27:40we're the number one overall seed.
27:41We are supposed to get to the super bowl place.
27:43We have never been and likely to get to an NFC championship game with
27:47a team that we rarely ever appear in.
27:48So no,
27:49I'm going to sell that notion because Kansas city,
27:51number one has Patrick Mahomes,
27:53the best quarterback in the NFL number two,
27:55as the best coach in the NFL.
27:57And number three might have the best defensive coordinator in the NFL and
28:00Steve Spagnuolo and their home.
28:02And they have the buy.
28:03I'm not saying the lines aren't getting to the NFC championship game and
28:06or the super bowl,
28:07but I'm not going to sit up here and say their pathway is better than the
28:10chiefs and should get there.
28:12The chiefs always get there and find a way to get there and we'll get there
28:16again this season.
28:17And maybe the lions get there,
28:19but it's not the safer bet.
28:20Sell,
28:21sell,
28:22sell.
28:23I can understand why the question is phrased this way.
28:25It does seem rather top heavy in the AFC where we have three teams.
28:30We expect to contend for that conference ground that really anybody could win
28:34it.
28:35The chiefs,
28:36the bills,
28:37the Ravens,
28:38but Casey has won it for the last six years.
28:40Casey is played in the AFC championship game.
28:44All six seasons are the doorstep of a super bowl appearance.
28:48And for the previous five,
28:50not including last year.
28:51So five of the last six,
28:53the chiefs have hosted said AFC championship game inside Arrowhead,
28:58which would be the case once again,
29:00this year,
29:01if the chiefs do in fact play in the AFC title,
29:04they need just one win to do so against either the Chargers or the Texans.
29:09So I also will sell this notion.
29:11The light lions are a safer bet.
29:13The chiefs deserve the benefit of the doubt in the postseason pedigree to back
29:18up that claim.
29:20Now,
29:21I do again,
29:22get why the question was phrased that way by our producer extraordinaire,
29:26Joe Friso,
29:27because Donnie,
29:28it really does feel that in the NFC,
29:30even though there might be some teams that could be pesky,
29:33it's really a two team race where more than likely we assume we are going to
29:38see the lions and the Eagles in that NFC championship game in the motor city
29:43in Detroit,
29:44we'll have home field advantage.
29:46Now could the Vikings,
29:47the divisional mates of the lions give Detroit a test in round number two,
29:51that division around,
29:52of course,
29:53with all the storylines of Matthew Stafford,
29:55returning to the motor city,
29:56once again,
29:57Mike,
29:58the Rams with their own playoff pedigree,
29:59be able to make some noise to keep Detroit from getting to an NFC
30:02championship game for a second consecutive year,
30:05be able to say something about it.
30:06Sure.
30:07But I do believe the chiefs are the safer bet to reach a super bowl.
30:11Yes.
30:12And also when you are looking at both teams have home field advantage,
30:15it will make a difference.
30:16But having said like,
30:17yes,
30:18the bills are a good team.
30:19The Baltimore Ravens are good,
30:20but we're not looking at the bills in the Ravens showdown with the chiefs,
30:22the same way.
30:23I think most people are saying like,
30:24boy,
30:25if the lions and Eagles meet up on that championship Sunday,
30:27watch out,
30:28man,
30:29lock yourself at home and watch out people more on the early line.
30:33Next NFL playoff edition of buy or sell.
30:36One of our favorite games each and every week throughout the national
30:39football league,
30:40as we get you start for,
30:41as we get you ready for the start of the playoffs,
30:45the IRS,
30:46it's not just a team outlook,
30:47but whether fair or not,
30:49we associate team success with individual,
30:52but really just one individual position more than the rest.
30:56That would be the quarterback.
30:58And when you talk quarterback success out of any of the 14 QBs that will
31:02play in the NFL playoffs,
31:05one guy rises above the rest.
31:07That is Patrick Mahomes.
31:08Look at the record 15 and three 15 and three,
31:14those three losses,
31:15by the way,
31:16twice in the AFC championship,
31:18once in a super bowl,
31:20two of the three losses against the legendary Tom Brady,
31:24Josh Allen is five and five.
31:26He has never played in a super bowl.
31:29Lamar Jackson,
31:30a lot of questions to be answered and narratives to turn around here in this
31:34post season,
31:35two and four,
31:36Sam Darnold has never played in a playoff game.
31:39Jalen hurts is two and three,
31:40but at least owns a conference championship.
31:43A couple of years ago,
31:45those decisions made again by our producer extraordinaire,
31:48the five quarterbacks he feels are under the most pressure entering this
31:53post season,
31:54the greatest of all times,
31:55or that idea,
31:57the conversation for Mahomes is why he is always under pressure.
32:01So as we look at that crop of five,
32:03the RS buy or sell Lamar Jackson is the quarterback facing the most
32:08pressure this post season.
32:10Oh,
32:11absolutely by it.
32:12There's no doubt about it.
32:13When you look at that list of who's under pressure,
32:15if they lose,
32:16everything is going to come down on them.
32:17Why?
32:18Because they're great football players.
32:19If I equate it to my Eagles fandom over the years,
32:21Donovan actually won a lot of big football games,
32:23but the biggest football games and the moments you needed him to win and
32:26step up in moments,
32:27you saw that he wasn't able to get the job done and maybe an unfair label
32:31on McNabb,
32:32which how good he was during his time for the Eagles.
32:34The same thing can be said here about Lamar Jackson to an Nth degree
32:37because Donovan McNabb was never the MVP of the NFL.
32:39Got close a couple of times.
32:40Lamar Jackson is a multiple time MVP and just might win another this year.
32:44So you're saying if I'm going to have a three time MVP that can't even
32:48get to a Superbowl and every time you get to the playoffs,
32:51it always falls on him.
32:52Cause when's the last time?
32:53Cause let's just say the Superbowl with the Eagles,
32:55where they went up against Kansas city,
32:56right?
32:57You didn't look at that game and say,
32:58well,
32:59Jalen hurts boy in the biggest moments.
33:00He was really bad.
33:01Understand.
33:02He fumbled in that game,
33:03but he was toe to toe with my homes where when that game was over,
33:05you didn't say,
33:06boy,
33:07if we had a better quarterback or better quarterback play,
33:08that would have been handled.
33:09We've been saying that about Lamar Jackson in the playoffs.
33:11And it's not unfair to say,
33:13watch those football games.
33:14And even last year,
33:15you want to take it out and say,
33:16maybe it was more of a coaching thing than him.
33:18He threw multiple bad plays,
33:19ending up at interceptions down the stretch on footballs.
33:22You just can't throw.
33:23Now,
33:24do we blame him for Zane flowers fumbling on the goal line,
33:26which could have changed the trajectory of that football game?
33:28No,
33:29we don't.
33:30And rightfully so he shouldn't be charged for that.
33:31But when you're the quarterback,
33:32you're going to get the accolades.
33:33And maybe when you do lose some of those accolades,
33:36don't go your way.
33:37Like,
33:38well,
33:39he just lost that game.
33:40You need him that clean football and get to a Superbowl and
33:41perform well.
33:42So for me,
33:43buying that notion by far,
33:45it's Lamar Jackson.
33:46There's not even a close second to me,
33:48Ben.
33:49Yeah,
33:50I would agree.
33:51I also buy that notion to the nth degree.
33:53I think Josh Allen might be that second.
33:56I understand the point of Patrick Mahomes.
33:58Once you have always shown excellence,
34:00that is now your standard,
34:02right?
34:03And anything less than a Superbowl appearance,
34:05or perhaps a third consecutive Lombardi trophy,
34:07despite the fact,
34:08even getting to the big game in new Orleans would be historic
34:12for this chiefs organization.
34:14Any NFL team,
34:15if you come up short of that,
34:17the season is considered at least a slight failure.
34:20Sam Darnold,
34:21not pressure necessarily trying to enter the Pantheon of one of
34:25the great quarterbacks in the NFL,
34:27but trying to prove that this season was not a fluke.
34:29Like the questions are starting to arise after the week 18
34:32performance against Detroit and Jalen hurts trying to prove he
34:36is on that upper tier.
34:38He is of the elite echelon around the NFL,
34:41but to your point,
34:43DRS,
34:44it is Lamar Jackson.
34:45First year as a full-time starter in Baltimore,
34:482019,
34:49he wins the NFL MVP award.
34:51His second season in the NFL Baltimore has the best record to
34:54the one seat in the AFC.
34:56They come up short.
34:57Once again,
34:58I believe losing in the division around in their first game
35:00against Derrick Henry and the Titans.
35:02If I am not mistaken last year,
35:05one seed best record in the NFL,
35:09a sensational performance in that division around matchup against
35:12the Texans,
35:13152 yards through the air.
35:15Didn't have to do much to touchdowns,
35:17a hundred yards on the ground,
35:19two touchdowns,
35:20252 total yards.
35:22If you will for total scores,
35:24all right,
35:25the narrative starting to change because he entered one in three
35:29in playoff action with home field advantage in Baltimore against
35:34what many considered the worst of the KC teams we had ever seen
35:38reach an AFC championship.
35:40The first to have to win the conference crown on a road to 272
35:45yards,
35:46but just 20 of 37,
35:47a touchdown and interception,
35:49a costly one in the Ravens game plan was really all on the
35:53more to run.
35:54You are not given the benefit of the doubt when you are the
35:57one seed with home field advantage,
35:59even when it's the chiefs in the homes on the other side,
36:03this is now the Mars time to prove it,
36:06but Donnie potentially after this weekend in a home game with the
36:10largest spread against the Steelers,
36:12the Ravens will have to go on the road.
36:14The remainder of their post-season run.
36:16Yes.
36:17And understand this too.
36:18Like we're not adding up Lamar Jackson.
36:20Like he doesn't have to be the spotlight player,
36:22even though he will be,
36:23which means he doesn't have to throw 40 times in a football game
36:26and complete 35 of those passes for five touchdowns and no
36:29interceptions.
36:30What we're saying is when I look at the Baltimore Ravens,
36:33Just stick to what you do best.
36:35And what got you here?
36:36If we end up winning a super bowl,
36:38talking about the Ravens where Lamar Jackson doesn't throw over 25
36:40passes all the way through.
36:42Nobody's going to look at that team.
36:43Like, Oh, well, Lamar didn't lead them to victory.
36:45No, he's going to get the accolades being the quarterback because,
36:47you know, he made dynamic plays,
36:49whether it's touchdown passes or with his own legs or Derek Henry.
36:52That's all I want to see,
36:53which makes it so maddening last year.
36:55When we look at Lamar Jackson,
36:56the only future I placed before the season started was for the Ravens
36:59to win a world championship.
37:01And I was sitting high and mighty entering into their plans.
37:03I have the best team at home.
37:05No doubt in my mind,
37:06they're going to play well.
37:07And it wasn't even that Lamar Jackson playing bad.
37:09It was the coaching,
37:10the play calling and how that entire game played out for Kansas city,
37:14which had everybody upset.
37:15Because if you just stuck with what got you there,
37:18Lamar picking the spots in the passing game,
37:20running the football,
37:21playing good defenses,
37:22good things will happen for the Ravens.
37:24So that goes into it as well.
37:26And we'll talk super bowl MVP odds on the other side of the break.
37:30Josh Allen did end out the regular season as a minus four 70 favorite to
37:34win the MVP award this year in the NFL,
37:38but we will show you those super bowl MVP odds again after our commercial
37:42break,
37:43because it does emphasize the idea of pressure on a quarterback and
37:48certainly for both the Ravens and the bills to get off the fast starts
37:52because it's expected early or on the early line.
37:55The super bowl MVP odds,
37:57a new market out this week on the fan dual sports book,
38:00kind of reemphasize what we have been discussing the quarterbacks around the
38:04NFL about to embark on a post-season run with the most pressure.
38:08But again,
38:09it also kind of just ties up to where you are in terms of your super bowl
38:13odds as a team,
38:15Patrick Mahomes,
38:16of course is the super bowl MVP favorite.
38:19Should that be overly shocking?
38:21No,
38:22because the chiefs have the second best price to win a super bowl.
38:26You will see the number on the Baltimore Ravens.
38:29It's plus 550.
38:30Now actually,
38:31well,
38:32is that correct?
38:33The Ravens have a better price to win a super bowl than that of the
38:35Buffalo bills at this moment.
38:37That's a change up from where things were earlier this week as it stands
38:41right now,
38:42the bills,
38:43though,
38:44better price to win the AFC.
38:46Am I going crazy?
38:47Can we double check this from Buffalo from money spots?
38:50Yeah,
38:51it must be.
38:52Buffalo is plus two 50 to win the AFC 30 cents in front of Baltimore at
38:56a plus two 80 price,
38:57but the Ravens are plus five 50 with the third best number to win the
39:01super bowl itself.
39:03Nearly half a dollar,
39:04actually a full half dollar in front of Buffalo at a six to one number.
39:08Regardless,
39:09your prices to win super bowl MVP DRS,
39:11very closely tied to what your team's price is to win just the Lombardi
39:16trophy overall.
39:18The only guy that really doesn't stack up is Jared Goff,
39:21plus six 50 number.
39:23Despite the fact his lions are the super bowl favorites because you will
39:27see his sensational running back at 15 to one.
39:30That being Jameer gives with the next best price of anybody not named a
39:35quarterback.
39:36Yeah.
39:37The one thing I do disagree with,
39:38again,
39:39you have to work anticipating guys getting to the super bowl.
39:41So that makes a difference where it's like,
39:42Hey,
39:43I don't know.
39:44CJ Stroud.
39:45Why don't you just take a flyer because quarterbacks always win it.
39:47It's the championship.
39:48151 is a pretty good price on CJ Stroud.
39:50If we're being honest,
39:51you see Jameer gives it 15 to one.
39:52Yes.
39:53Detroit has a great chance to get to the super bowl,
39:54but David Montgomery is coming back.
39:56No,
39:57I would never take gives at that point because they'll make sure that's a
39:5950,
40:0050 backfield at that point,
40:01which allows me to slide it down.
40:02If we're not going quarterbacks with teams with legitimate chances to make
40:05the super bowl,
40:06say Quan Barkley,
40:0721 to one,
40:08Derek Henry,
40:0927 to one.
40:10Those will be my eyes would go.
40:11If you wanted that longer shot,
40:13as opposed to just taking the quarterback and understand this favorites to
40:16the super bowl,
40:17Kansas city,
40:18they get there and win it.
40:19It's going to be Patrick,
40:20my home.
40:21It's not going to be Kareem Han.
40:22It's not going to be Isaiah Pacheco.
40:23It's not going to be Travis Kelsey.
40:24It will be my homes.
40:25That's why they're priced accordingly.
40:26But if I'm looking outside the box to say,
40:28boy,
40:29and sometimes it's just supposed to be the super bowl MVP,
40:32but we know how people vote.
40:33If say Quan goes a hundred yards,
40:35a hundred yards,
40:36a hundred yards,
40:37and goes in the super bowl for a buck 50 and Jalen hurts us for two
40:3975 and three touchdowns.
40:40I'm like,
40:41you know what?
40:42Say Quan was really the MVP of this team.
40:43Let's give it to him in the super bowl.
40:44Same thing with Derrick Henry.
40:45Yes.
40:46Lamar Jackson might win the MVP in the regular season and have a
40:48decent run.
40:49But if Derrick Henry for the next three games,
40:51over a hundred yards and a big super bowl,
40:53that's a nice price at 27 to one.
40:55Cause hear me out on this same thing with everybody else,
40:57the Eagles make it end or the Ravens make it.
41:00Those price points aren't going to be 20 to one and 27 to one.
41:03They're going to be two to one and plus one 75 at that point.
41:07It's the debate we had last year.
41:10Would Christian McCaffrey actually be the super bowl MVP favorite in
41:13front of Brock Purdy because of what he meant to that offense,
41:16even more than a quarterback, but we're talking pressure here.
41:20Lamar Jackson under a ton to try to turn around the narrative of his
41:23lack of success in the playoffs could argue the same for Josh Allen
41:28for consecutive AFC East divisional crowns.
41:31Now make it five and never a birth to a super bowl.
41:34Only one AFC championship game appearance way back in 2020 ousted
41:40from the post season,
41:41the last three years in the division around three of the previous four by
41:45Kansas city,
41:46but both expected DRS to have the opportunity to face off in a division
41:51around matchup to potentially see the chiefs again in that AFC
41:55championship game,
41:56because both Buffalo and Baltimore are largest favorites of this wild
42:01card weekend.
42:02The bill's laying eight and a half against the Broncos.
42:04The Ravens lay in nine and a half against the Pittsburgh Steelers by or
42:08sell to you.
42:09The Broncos are more likely to win outright than the Steelers.
42:14I'm going to sell that for one reason,
42:16because we know how long this rivalry goes back between the Steelers and the
42:20Baltimore Ravens,
42:21where even if you saw the last game,
42:23it was clear that the Ravens are probably the better team,
42:25even though the first game,
42:26the Steelers got the better of them.
42:27The Ravens are playing much better football down the stretch than the
42:29Pittsburgh Steelers,
42:30but these two teams really know each other.
42:32These two teams know how to get after it.
42:34And you're talking about Mike Tomlin as an underdog with his team hanging
42:37around. There's a legitimate chance that happens.
42:39I would be surprised if the Ravens completely take apart the Steelers for a
42:4217 point win.
42:44I'm looking at this game in the second half,
42:45being a one possession type of game.
42:47Maybe the Ravens cover,
42:48maybe they don't,
42:49but flip it over to the other side.
42:51I do like the Broncos,
42:52but they are going on the road as underdogs with a rookie quarterback,
42:56which usually doesn't tend to help you all that much in the playoffs.
42:59And from a perspective of betting,
43:01Denver is very good at winning games.
43:03They're supposed to win.
43:04Not so good at games.
43:05We're not supposed to win.
43:06And they're not supposed to win this.
43:07So what's the point, Tom?
43:09I'll go to the Steelers.
43:11We'll continue by ourselves.
43:13Continue the debate.
43:15We continue playing by ourselves to set the stage for the NFL post-season
43:19and very soon the NFL draft.
43:21But I do want to make one final point about the last topic we were discussing.
43:25Of our six wildcard weekend games,
43:28we only have two that feature a point spread at five or higher.
43:32And in fact, both are north of a touchdown.
43:35The Ravens in the Saturday night cap of our doubleheader,
43:38just two days from now,
43:39nine and a half point favored against divisional foe and rival the Pittsburgh Steelers.
43:44It seems like a lot for a game between those two bitter foes where no love is lost
43:49from the AFC North,
43:51the flock and the Steelers and an eight and a half point spread in favor of the Bills.
43:55First game of three on Sunday against the Broncos.
43:58DRS, I would agree with you.
44:00I actually think the Steelers are more than likely to win outright in favor of the Broncos.
44:06I think the Bills are in command of that game.
44:09And again, as we discussed yesterday,
44:11I deem this season a wild success story for Sean Payton,
44:15Bo Nix and the Broncos and a ton of building blocks in place to have a lot of optimism
44:22in the offseason and beyond into 2025.
44:25But when you look at the Broncos actual resume this year
44:29and what they have done as an underdog,
44:31as of late when the market has reset in those matchups against the teams,
44:35they were not expected to beat.
44:37It has not been an overly pretty picture for Denver.
44:41A successful season.
44:42I think it comes to an end and potentially by double digits on Sunday afternoon.
44:47And on paper,
44:48I actually am not going to go to the prescribed notion of,
44:51oh, it's an AFC North game between the Steelers and the Ravens.
44:54You know,
44:55it's going to be decided by a single score as eight of the last nine have been five
44:59of those eight by a field goal.
45:01I do really think the Ravens should win this game comfortably,
45:05but there is that thought of familiarity.
45:08If the Steelers can be elite offensively,
45:11which we have not seen in the four consecutive defeats to end out this year,
45:15that Pittsburgh could stay in it again.
45:17I think the Steelers have a more likely chance to win outright than the Broncos.
45:21Do I think either win outright?
45:23No.
45:24Would I even take any of that money line sprinkle,
45:27even if you made it a 10 to one price on the Steelers?
45:30Still probably not.
45:31I think both Baltimore and Buffalo win rather comfortably to set up what would
45:35be an incredible division around game in Western New York between Josh Allen
45:40and his Bills and Lamar Jackson and his Ravens.
45:43And the answer might be a little bit different if we were just asking the
45:45question, which team do you feel is more likely to cover,
45:48but we're not actually going in there winning that football game.
45:50There are two different scenarios that has played out.
45:52And also as we spend a lot of time and rightfully so,
45:55one of these guys is a rookie in Bo Nix.
45:57He's not supposed to win.
45:58The other one's Russell Wilson has been through a Superbowl one-one,
46:01but also we talk about the pressure that starts to mount up in the playoffs on
46:05Lamar Jackson.
46:06And you know,
46:07he's going to get heated up in that pocket without his best wide receiver
46:09from a really good pass rush from the Steelers.
46:12We've seen crazier things happen and the game slows down in the playoffs.
46:15Hopefully we're in for some good football to watch and maybe the Pittsburgh
46:18Steelers can steal one.
46:19But as Ben said,
46:20are we looking for any or one of these other dogs really to win outright?
46:23No.
46:24Otherwise we'd be pressing the lever down saying,
46:25Oh,
46:26I can't believe these spreads are so high.
46:27Forget about it.
46:28Let's just take the money line on both.
46:29We're not doing that.
46:30You're asking to pick the winner of this football game.
46:31It's hard to win on the road in the playoffs when theoretically you're not
46:35the better team.
46:36So it's a tough stance anyway.
46:38Yeah,
46:39completely agree.
46:40And again,
46:41it reemphasizes the idea of pressure because more than likely we are going
46:44to see Josh Allen face off against Lamar Jackson in the division around for
46:48a spot in the AFC championship game.
46:51One quarterback will start to change his narrative.
46:54The other will have to continue with those storylines and the feedback in a
46:58negative way that we have seen plagued their post-season careers to this
47:03point.
47:04Let's talk quarterbacks of the future and the number one overall pick odds,
47:09which have changed a ton in the last week or so toward the end of the
47:15regular season in the NFL.
47:17At the end of the regular season in college football,
47:20it was should or Sanders at a minus 200 price.
47:24Colorado's quarterback,
47:25of course,
47:26to be that first overall selection.
47:28Now it's Miami's QB by way of wazoo and incarnate word.
47:32That would be cam Ward as a minus one 25 favorite to be the first overall
47:37pick.
47:38There could be a lot of reasons why,
47:40of course you see the Heisman winner,
47:41Travis Hunter there as well at a 10 to one number,
47:44but more than likely a quarterback goes first off the board,
47:47especially with the Titans,
47:49a quarterback needy team holding on to that pick by or sell Donnie's guy.
47:56Miami's cam Ward will be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
48:01I'm going to buy it at this point right now,
48:03because I do think,
48:04and you see the odds,
48:05it's not minus 500 to plus six 50.
48:07At this point,
48:08you're looking neck and neck in a coin flip here,
48:10but where I give the slight edge to cam Ward is watching both of these
48:13football players.
48:14They're good football players.
48:15They're both going to go in the first round.
48:16I expect them to have results once they get to the NFL,
48:18but cam Ward just feels like he's leveled up just a little bit more than
48:22Shador.
48:23And some might say,
48:24well,
48:25that's not really fair.
48:26Did you see the growth and maturity of Shador over the past year or two?
48:28Yes,
48:29we've seen that.
48:30Did you also see the talent at Colorado?
48:31Not be so good a year ago and get a little bit better this year.
48:33Both of these guys had a lot of talent at wide receiver and running back,
48:36maybe even a little bit more on the side here for cam Ward,
48:39if you include that offensive line.
48:41But for me,
48:42I want to just a guy that's going to stand to deliver in the pocket and
48:44also make those tough throws,
48:46but be able to escape the pocket.
48:47I just like cam Ward a little bit more,
48:49and I'm not saying this is fair,
48:51but it is a question that you have to ask what in circles,
48:55which quarterback you're going to take.
48:56Yes.
48:57You get cam Ward.
48:58He's a good football player.
48:59Yes.
49:00You get your door Sanders.
49:01He's a good football player,
49:02but if you are an organization with a general manager and an ownership
49:06group that accepts your door,
49:07Sanders,
49:08who is a rock star right now,
49:09makes a ton of money.
49:10NIL.
49:11He is going to bring a lot of focus on your team,
49:13both good and bad.
49:14And also,
49:15what do you get from the father looking over his shoulder?
49:17Like,
49:18I don't like what's going on with my son.
49:19Maybe this should not be that place.
49:21So you do have to ask those questions on if there is baggage and maybe
49:25it's unfair because I just told you there are two good quarterbacks,
49:28but does an organization side with maybe the quieter football player,
49:32maybe off the field,
49:33then the other one.
49:34So the RS,
49:36that's what I actually think has caused the change here.
49:40Not necessarily the egos or the allure of either quarterback,
49:44but just what Tennessee might be willing to deal with or what they prefer
49:49in quarterback skillset.
49:51I actually think it's pretty even in terms of step talent,
49:54skill level,
49:55and how I think both will be in the NFL at the quarterback position.
49:59I think both have the chance to be successful.
50:02Is there a generational talent,
50:04at least entering like a Caleb Williams or a Heisman trophy winner in
50:08Jaden Daniels or a CJ Stroud or even Bryce young,
50:12at least their perception,
50:13entering an NFL draft.
50:15Not necessarily the arrest.
50:18Neither of these two guys were actually the favorites to be the first
50:21overall pick at the beginning of this football year.
50:24It was Georgia's Carson Beck.
50:25We're not even sure he's going to be a day one or day to pick come the
50:30end of April.
50:31At this point,
50:32Sanders had a shorter price before the season got started at plus 380,
50:36which was the second best number cam Ward,
50:39fifth best price at 14 to one.
50:41But now the perception is,
50:43Hey,
50:44we might have a two quarterback draft,
50:45at least in the opening round for quarterbacks that we are going to see
50:49here,
50:50their name called early and often last year.
50:53We saw six in the opening round,
50:55a modern NFL draft record and not just six by the time we were done with
51:0032,
51:01six by the time we were done with 12 Donnie.
51:04So the NFL was in love with quarterbacks and there were a ton of teams
51:08last year that needed a future signal caller.
51:11As is the case this year,
51:13certainly at the top,
51:14the Titans,
51:15the Browns,
51:16the Giants need one as well.
51:18The Patriots don't,
51:19the Jags don't.
51:20And then the Raiders drafting six overall do need a quarterback of the
51:24future.
51:25We're just not sure outside of Cleveland.
51:26If any of those teams will get a chance,
51:29but I do believe Donnie Tennessee,
51:32at least as reports state like cam ward a little bit more.
51:36And I also believe it's intriguing because we know who Deion Sanders is.
51:41We know who prime is.
51:43He has told us he is going to be heavily invested in trying to pick the
51:47destination that should or Sanders goes should,
51:50or was wearing giants cleats to play in the Alamo bowl against BYU.
51:54When it seemed like the Giants controlled their own destiny to have that
51:58first overall pick only for should or not to play all that well in the Alamo
52:02ball and the giants to squander that opportunity,
52:05all of that more than skillset and talent is why I think cam ward is the
52:10favorite right now.
52:11Yeah.
52:12And also you are going to get smokescreen season.
52:14We're better than gamblers are like,
52:15or you get this little tidbits and rightfully so push the lever.
52:18I'm going to make that bet.
52:19And these odds will change because theoretically get ready for the next two
52:22to three weeks.
52:23When they tell you that Travis Hunter is too light to play in the NFL and
52:26they can't even believe they had them rated this high from college.
52:28It's common because they want them to drop to another team.
52:31One thing.
52:32I'll buy more than anything.
52:33Those odds will change again.
52:35You know, we're in full preview.
