00:00I'll tell you what doesn't happen very often either, Joe, a top 10 running back here in this day and age.
00:04But the resurgence of the running back position based off of last year, free agents were hitting home runs.
00:10Rookies were doing extremely well.
00:11So the Raiders figured we want to jump into that mix.
00:15Ashton Jinty goes number six overall to the Las Vegas Raiders as they get their running back.
00:20Now, I have two ways, Joe, that I look at this because I always have a philosophy.
00:24If I'm a first round, you know, team drafting, I want to take the best player on the board, regardless of position, outside of quarterback.
00:32Like if you have Patrick Mahomes and somehow you're number six pick, you're not going to draft a quarterback knowing that that's not going to help you for the next 10 years because Mahomes is going to be there.
00:39But Ashton Jinty was the best, most talented player at six.
00:43The Raiders got him.
00:44But typically that running back is the cherry on top for a team that has his future young franchise quarterback, wide receivers that are ready to learn.
00:51And away you go is that final piece of the puzzle, which I was looking at the Chicago Bears and you know what?
00:56They think they have their franchise quarterback.
00:58They got wide receivers.
00:59They got talent.
01:00And now is the time to win over the next two to three years.
01:02Do you like to pick for the Raiders getting Ashton Jinty?
01:05And how did you feel when you saw they selected him?
01:08It's funny.
01:09I love Ashton Jinty.
01:11I mean, the kid is, he's a phenomenal person first and foremost there.
01:16And his story is captivating.
01:19And he's got a ton of talent.
01:20He's 5'11", 2'12".
01:23And anytime you put the words Barry Sanders in the same conversation, even though Barry, you know, got his yardage three games fewer than he did.
01:33But that's a different story.
01:34The bottom line is there's talent there.
01:37And timing to me is everything.
01:40Because if this was five years ago, we wouldn't even be having this.
01:45He'd still be on the board and we'd be looking at a second or third round pick.
01:49Why? Well, B. John Robinson happened.
01:52Jameer Gibbs happened here.
01:54And, of course, we just watched a pretty good running back out of Penn State win a Super Bowl there with the Philadelphia Eagles, who was the difference maker.
02:04So you put all that together, and now all of a sudden the running back spot is being valued more as of late.
02:12B. John's a beast.
02:13Jameer Gibbs, I worry that a running back out of the Mountain West, 5'11", 2'12", a six pick, you're going to run this kid three downs every drive like he's going to be a three-down back?
02:26I mean, how long does he last, Donnie?
02:29Does he even make it to that next contract in the fifth year if you're going to burn the kid like this?
02:34That's the only thing I worry about for him.
