00:00Hello there, a very good evening to you. Hope you've had a lovely weekend, though do count
00:05yourself lucky if you have seen any sunshine. Most of us have instead been plagued by quite
00:09grey and gloomy skies. This cloudy theme is set to continue over the next few days and
00:16that of course includes the forthcoming night. There will be some outbreaks of drizzle and
00:20light rain around, particularly for Northern Ireland and western areas of Scotland. Eastern
00:24Scotland will probably hold on to the clearest skies overnight, but we could see that cloud
00:28breaking across other areas of England and Wales as well. Where that cloud does break,
00:33certainly temperatures will drop off. Some patchy frost will be around in rural areas
00:37particularly, but even if you hold on to the cloud, for most of us there will be a chill
00:41in the air first thing on Monday morning. There may also be some isolated areas of fog
00:47and mist around first thing, so it could be a bit murky to start off the new week, particularly
00:52across areas of Northern Ireland as you're heading back to work. But here in the north-west
00:56we'll see some clearer and sunnier spells developing during the day as this band of
01:00rain pushes more into northern areas of England. For most of England and Wales it is certainly
01:05going to be quite a cloudy day, and with the lack of sunshine again, it's going to feel
01:08quite chilly in places 4 or 5 degrees Celsius as your top temperatures go towards the north-west
01:14will be pushing towards 8 or 9 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday we are going to see an area of
01:20low pressure just push its way slightly closer to the north-west of the UK, and this occluded
01:25front here is going to help to start pep up some showers, and that will be pushing
01:29further inland across western areas of Scotland. A few of those will be on the sharp side,
01:34some hail, maybe the odd rumble of thunder in there as well. We'll still have this lingering
01:37band of rain across northern England into northern Wales as well, but hopefully elsewhere
01:42we will start to see a few more breaks in that cloud on Tuesday compared to Monday.
01:46A bit more brightness, a bit more sunshine trying to poke its way through at times. Temperatures
01:51though are still struggling a little bit for the time of year, generally ranging between
01:545 and 7 degrees Celsius. To understand the weather that will be coming to us during the
02:01latter stages of this next week though, we have to transition to the other side of the
02:05Atlantic. We're currently seeing a marked cold wave across areas of the United States
02:11with cold plunge coming in from the Arctic. Where there's contrast with the mild air in
02:16the south that is helping to fuel a very powerful jet stream in the Atlantic, we could see that
02:22reaching speeds of over 200 miles per hour, this fast ribbon of air high up in the atmosphere.
02:30What this is going to do though is pick up an area of low pressure in the Atlantic and
02:34start to very rapidly deepen it, particularly once it moves onto the left hand side of the
02:38jet stream. And you can see here by Thursday a lot of ice bars around this area of low
02:43pressure indicating it is a very deep feature. That will continue its journey towards the
02:49UK as we move into Friday and the weekend, bringing potential for some very strong winds,
02:54heavy rain and snowfall around at times as well. So there is the potential certainly
02:59for some disruption as we head towards the end of this week and it is worth staying up
03:03to date with the forecast for the full details. We'll provide plenty more of that on the YouTube
03:08channel and across social media as well. Otherwise, we'll see you again here later on. Bye bye.
