00:08President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. passed Executive Order No. 80

00:13that implements the Philippine Schedule of Tariff Commitments

00:16under the Free Trade Agreement or FTA in South Korea.

00:20Under the law, the President said that the import duty rates of their products

00:26will be subject to the FTA.

00:28It is stated in the EO that all products listed in the said schedule

00:33will be subject to the specified import duty rates

00:36when it enters the country, as long as it has proof of origin.

00:40PHKR-FTA passed the ASEAN Summit in Indonesia in September 2023

00:47and was ratified by the Senate in September 2024.

00:52It aims to strengthen the economy through lower tariffs

00:57and wider trade opportunities between the Philippines and South Korea.

01:04The National Food Authority assured that they are ready to issue their rice stocks

01:10for the relief-giving emergencies this holiday season.

01:14According to the NFA Administrator Larry Lackson,

01:17after the outbreak of the unceasing activity of the volcano Canlaon

01:21and the pouring of rain in some parts of the country due to the ITCZ,

01:26they immediately assured that they have stocks of rice

01:29that can be distributed to affected residents.

01:33The NFA also ordered their personnel at the operations center

01:37to be ready to provide assistance even during the holiday season.

01:42The NFA also stated that 95 percent of their buffer stocking target is for 2024.

01:50That's why they are ready to provide assistance at any time.
