00:20This is the challenge of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:23to more than 600 new officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines
00:27who graduated from the Major Services Officer Candidate Course of the AFP.
00:31In the President's message, he acknowledged these in their brave acceptance of the responsibilities
00:37to defend and protect the country.
00:40At the same time, he acknowledged the families of those who graduated
00:43because of the unparalleled support,
00:45as well as the trainers and mentors who served as a guide to the graduating class.
00:49Your graduation day today signifies the culmination of your determination,
00:55sacrifice, and hard work to overcome the challenges
00:59of becoming an officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
01:03This marks the beginning of your role to ensure the defense of our nation
01:09and the safety of all Filipinos.
01:13The President also acknowledged the awardees
01:15because they worked hard in their dedication to serve as an inspiration
01:19for their accepted recognition
01:21to work harder in their duties
01:23and be more upright in serving the Philippines.
01:27Let this be your guiding principle as you step forward.
01:31In the face of evolving threats and modern warfare,
01:35innovation, technical expertise, and leadership rooted in service
01:40will be your most powerful weapons.
01:43The President also reiterated the government's continued efforts
01:47to improve the Armed Forces of the Philippines
01:50to make it a world-class force.
01:53This is through investing in the talents of its members
01:56and modernizing equipment,
01:58as well as improving the training programs of AFP personnel.
02:02We build an AFP that will stand as a beacon of strength,
02:06of alliance, resilience, and technological excellence.
02:11We always remember that every challenge is part of a greater goal.
02:17In every step, your service is not just a duty,
02:22it is an oath for the nation,
02:25an oath for every Filipino.
02:28The Officer Candidate Course is a mandatory training course
02:31for prospective AFP officers.
02:33It is a formal reminder of their professional military education.
02:38OCC is a one-year course for baccalaureate degree holders
02:41who are preparing to be mentally, physically, and emotionally fit
02:46to become officers in the Philippine Army and Philippine Air Force
02:49as Second Lieutenants
02:51and in the Philippine Navy as NCOs in the AFP Regular Force.
