00:00A violent act of destruction, clearly anti-Semitic, designed to strike fear into the community
00:09that lives in this part of Sydney.
00:11I want to make it clear that this is antithetical and completely opposite to the kind of community
00:16and society that we want in Australia in 2024.
00:20This violent act will be met with the full response from New South Wales Police.
00:25Of course it will be completely and thoroughly investigated.
00:28I want to make it clear that these are shocking crimes, of course we're concerned and worried
00:33about it, but we also need to put forward a very strong message to the Jewish community
00:38of New South Wales that 99% of Australians that live in this state are behind you.
00:43They're appalled by this behaviour, they are appalled by these crimes and that they stand
00:49with the Jewish community of New South Wales.
00:52I can understand when you consider that New South Wales hosts the second highest per capita
00:58number of Holocaust survivors in the world after Israel, this would be particularly confronting
01:05and horrifying.
01:07And those communities migrated to Australia specifically and precisely to avoid this kind
01:15of hatred and division.
01:18And I want to make it clear that there is a comprehensive police response in relation
01:23to this shocking crime, that the community is with the Jewish community of New South
01:27Wales today, that it won't be tolerated and that civic and civil society is completely
01:33appalled by these acts of violence.
